This study is to develop the technology and the ways of the practical use of the integrated digital map of and Electronical Navigational Chart(ENC) and Digital Terrain Map(DTM) for the effective and scientific based conservation, development and management. In this study, as preliminary studies to make eventual integrated maps, the concept of coastal areas are defined and the characteristics of digital maps developed by Korean Geography Institute and National Marine Investigation Institute are carefully analyzed. A test coastal map was developed based on the integrated digital map, a high resolution satellite image and Global Positioning System. Results from the edge matching analysis of coastal lines shows 8 meters difference in maximum. The problems, causes and solutions for the edge matched differences are described. Furthermore, the practical value of utilization, future use and various field of application are described based on the integrated digital map data base of coastal area.

In order to cope with the changes of container terminal situation in these days, many simulation studies for container terminal have been accomplished. But previous simulation studies using simulation language have limitations in model representation and difficulties in modeling of large scaled container terminal system. To make these problems better, this paper addresses an object-oriented simulation of container terminal system using a DEVS formalism. The DEVS(Discrete Event System Specification) formalism, developed by Zeigler, supports specification of discrete event system in a hierarchical and modular manner. The formalism provides a mathematical basis for studying discrete event systems with better understood and sounder semantics. In a step of system modeling, a DEVS formalism aims at the exact system modeling that has a basis of semantics and utilizing the object-oriented manner can flexibly cope with the changes of system environment. In this study a model is developed and verified through the simulation of some alternatives.

This study is to find subjects for the Automated Container Terminal(ACT) development and container terminal system in Pusan port and its automation level by systems approach. And this paper aims at evaluating on the priority of R&D investment until the beginning of the second stage of New Pusan Project(2006). In this process we have considered 8 evaluation indexes (cost, labor, area, time, volume, reliability, safety, convenience) to analyze 6 subsystems. The priority of R&D until target year by sub-systems is as follow ; 1. Cargo Handling System, 2. Transfer System, 3. Port Entry System, 4. Storage System (Distribution & Manufacturing System included), 5. Inland Transport System, 6. Port Management & Information System.
