In order to streamline the procedure of data transmission in port and logistics industries, MOMAF introduced EDI systems as the method of data transmission of 19 documents 5 years ago. While operating EDI system, MOMAF has found the inconvenience and the inefficiency of using EDI systems in the field of requesting fast response. This thesis focuses on finding the possible fields of on-line processing system. The result of the paper presents that if data transmission area such as 'application for pilot'is changed to on-line processing method, the processing cost and time will be reduced compared with EDI processing method.

In port management, the scale of facilities and port layouts are major factors characterizing the port, which influence port economics and productivities continuously through the port operation. Grouping ports in certain region by their characteristics could be used as the principal informations to establish national policy for port development or investment and also to analyze the competitiveness between ports. Currently Korean ports are divided into two groups such as the local port and the designated port containing foreign trade port and coastal port under the Korean port law. These divisions seem to be used for port administration as the matter of convenience but some qualitative grouping is needed for research of port problems. In this paper, 20 major Korean ports were clustered by the similar characteristics using Fuzzy C-Means and found to be classified 8 qualitative groups.

A discrete system has interpreted by using the network model, and PERT network is one of these methods. For the purpose of analysing the real system, it is necessary to measure the parameter of the real system. And system identification problem is to assume the parameter of a real system when we get to know the system model, the input data and output data. System identification method has been only developed to a system of which a structure has expressed a differential equation or a polynomial expression. But it has been scarcely developed yet in that case of network model. The aim of this paper is to examine a changes when new system is introduced to the present system. The changes are as follows : how the present system will be changed, when the changes will be happened. In this paper, genetic algorithm is used to assume the parameter.

Major factors that are considered to determine lease charges of container terminals are, among others, construction cost of berth, discount rate, financing cost, and size of annual equivalent recovery. This paper aims to calculate construction costs at PECT and GCT and their annual equivalent recovery on the basis of historical data, and to identify whether or not the relationship of the above result and current lease charges at the two terminals are justifiable.

Today freeway is experiencing a severe congestion with incoming or outgoing traffic through freeway ramps during the peak periods. Thus, the purpose of this study is to identify the traffic characteristics, analyze the relationships between the traffic characteristics and finally construct the delay predictive models on the rap junctions of freeway with 70mph speed limit. From the traffic analyses, and model construction and verification for delay prediction on the ramp junctions of freeway, the following results were obtained : ⅰ) Traffic flow showed a big difference depending on the time periods. Especially, more traffic flows were concentrated on the freeway junctions in the morning peak period. ⅱ) The occupancy also showed a big difference depending on the time periods, and the downstream occupancy(Od) was especially shown to have a higher explanatory power for the delay predictive model construction on the ramp junctions of freeway. ⅲ) The delay-occupancy curve showed a remarkable shift based on the occupancies observed : Od/〈9% and Od/≥9%. Especially, volume and occupancy were shown to be highly explanatory for delay prediction on the ramp junctions of freeway under Od/≥9%, but lowly for delay prediction on the ramp junctions of freeway under Od/〈9%. Rather, the driver characteristics or transportation conditions around the freeway were thought to be a little higher explanatory for the delay prediction under Od/〈9%. ⅳ) Integrated delay predictive models showed a higher explanatory power in the morning peak period, but a lower explanatory power in the non-peak periods.

In this paper, an adaptive mechanism based on immune algorithm is designed and it is applied to the driving control of the autonomous guided vehicle(AGV). When the immune algorithm is applied to the PID controller, there exists the case that the plant is damaged by the abrupt change of PID parameters since the parameters are adjusted almost randomly. To solve this problem, a neural network used to model the plant and the parameter tuning of the model is performed by the immune algorithm. After the PID parameters are determined through this off-line manner, these parameters are then applied to the plant for the on-line control using immune adaptive algorithm. Moreover, even though the neural network model may not be accurate enough initially, the weighting parameters are adjusted more accurately through the on-line fine tuning. The experiment for the control of steering and speed of AGV is performed. The results show that the proposed controller provides better performances than other conventional controllers.

In this study, as the preliminary step for developing an unmanned vehicle to deliver a container-box, we designed and implemented Automatic Guided Vehicle(AGV) Simulator for the purpose of Port Facilities Automation. It is preferable to research the intelligent AGV for delivery all day long. For complementing AGV simulator driving, we used multiple-sensor systems with vision, ultrasonic, IR and adapted the high-speed wireless LAN that satisfies the IEEE 802.11 Standard for bi-directional communication between main processor in AGV and Host computer. Here, we mounted on bottom frame in AGV Pentium-III processor, which combine and compute the information from each sensor system and control the AGV driving, and used the 80C196KC micro-controller to control the actuating and steering motors.

This study is to develop the technology and the ways of the practical use of the integrated digital map of and Electronical Navigational Chart(ENC) and Digital Terrain Map(DTM) for the effective and scientific based conservation, development and management. In this study, as preliminary studies to make eventual integrated maps, the concept of coastal areas are defined and the characteristics of digital maps developed by Korean Geography Institute and National Marine Investigation Institute are carefully analyzed. A test coastal map was developed based on the integrated digital map, a high resolution satellite image and Global Positioning System. Results from the edge matching analysis of coastal lines shows 8 meters difference in maximum. The problems, causes and solutions for the edge matched differences are described. Furthermore, the practical value of utilization, future use and various field of application are described based on the integrated digital map data base of coastal area.

In this paper a complicated structural behavior in collision and its effects of energy translation to the collision bulkhead was examined through a methodology of the numerical simulation to obtain a ideal bow construction and a location of collision bulkhead against head on collision. In the present the bow structure is normally designed in consideration of its specific structural arrangements and internal and external loads in these area such as hydrostatic and dynamic pressure, wave impact and bottom slamming in accordance with the Classification rules, and the specific location of collision bulkhead by SOLAS requirement. By these studies the behavior of the bow collapse due to collision was synthetically evaluated for the different size of tankers and its operational speed limits, and by the results of these simulation it provides the optimal design concept for the bow construction to prevent the subsequent plastic deformation onto or near to the collision bulkhead boundary and to determine the rational location of collision bulkhead.

The expansion of old road is needed in constructing the entrance at the ○○I/C road in ○○city. To strength the national competition, many agents who concerned do their best for finishing that construction early as soon as possible. In generally, soil embankment on soft foundation is caused to reduce the stability by making the settlement of ground surface due to the over load. Thus, we try to make it stable by building EPS embankment construction which in our working place is one kind of the method of light embankment construction after excavating the original ground.

The amount of municipal water has been increased rapidly up to now and it is necessary to treat and dispose the wastewater effectively. The recent trend of the effluent disposal system, after treatment, show a nearshore discharge which has an outfall with length somewhere between the shoreline discharge and an extended deepwater outfall. There is no universal solution to municipal water treatment and disposal and each case must be examined on its merits and on economic, technical and environmental bases. In this study we focused mostly on the scientific and engineering aspects of ocean disposal through the outfall. For this purpose, we made an investigation to the near-field characteristics of discharged water and made some comparison with the existing experimental results. We also applied it to the Pusan Jungang Effluent Outfall System, which is planned to build in the Gamchun harbour and will be completed in 2011. The model output showed the trajectoral variation of dilution and mixing behavior for three cases of outfall system. Dilution differences have been simulated and found the highest dilution condition under the different displacement of outfall system. On the basis of these outputs it will be proposed the optimum outfall system type and location.
