An efficient method for in vitro propagation and growth of the wild garlic(Allium ochotense Prokh.) was established. Bulbs of wild garlic were collected from Ullung Island, Korea, and the growth pattern of plantlets on various culture media was observed. High growth of shoot was obtained on LP, NN and N6 medium. The growth media supplemented with 3%(w/v) sucrose was found optimal for shoot growth. After 10 weeks multiple shoots were observed in the plantlets growing on the medium containing 1.0 mg/l of zeatine and 0.1 mg/l NAA. Roots were induced directly at the base of the shoot in all treatments. The medium with 2.0 mg/l of IBA proved to be the best rooting medium. The studies of this kind may be used to develop strategies for large-scale propagation of elite wild garlic.

This study was carried out to classify the regional folk plants in northern area of Gyeonggi-do. According to the survey results from 238 survey sheets of 223 residents at 65 places of 11 counties and cities from March to October, 2010, the folk plants in north of Gyeonggi-do consisted of a total 238 taxa; 84 families, 194 genera, 207 species, 3 subspecies, 26 varieties, and 2 form. The use by its usage was: 146 taxa; edible, 93 taxa; medicinal, 7 taxa; dye, 3 taxa; aroma, 4 taxa; spice, 4 taxa; ornamental, 12 taxa; fiber, 6 taxa; oil, 51 taxa; others, respectively, so the edible use is the highest. The most useful part was the leaf, followed by root and fruit. The consistency comparison between the scientific name and the local name was the lowest in 40's.

This study described the characteristics of the upstream migration of salmon (Chum salmon, Oncorhynchus keta) along Yeon-gok Stream in the eastern coastal region of Korea from October 24 to November 9, 2018 using radio tag and data storage tag loggers for the detection of the locations of tagged salmon and measurement of water temperature. Tracking experiments were conducted and classified into four types (case 1 to case 4) depending on the release time and the number of salmon tracked. Experiments from case 1 to case 3 were classified depending on the number of salmon tracked into cases in which a single tagged salmon was tracked (case 1), a pair of tagged salmon was tracked (case 2), and salmon were tracked by different sex ratios (case 3). Experiments from cases 1 to 3 were conducted between 10 AM and 1 PM, and case 4 was conducted after 3:30 PM. Salmon moved and spawned in the downstream region of the Yeon-gok, where water temperature is higher than in other rivers and salmon return in Canada, Russia, Japan, and the U.S.A. Most of the radio-tagged salmon swam in deep and shaded areas during the day but actively moved upstream close to sunset, regardless of the release time. Females showed relatively more active movements than males during upstream migration.

Abeliophyllum distichum is a monotypic taxon of Oleaceae and endemic to Korea. A comprehensive study on embryogeny and fruit and seed coat ontogeny in Abeliophyllum was carried out via microtome and light microscopy. The fertilization occurs during mid– to late April and embryo matures by early July. The embryo development follows the general fashion from globular embryo – transition embryo – heart shaped embryo – torpedo embryo – walking-stick embryo to mature embryo. The pericarp clearly differentiates into three histological zones: exocarp, mesocarp, and endocarp. The young seed comprises 10-12 cells thick seed coat and the mature seed coat comprises an exotesta, 6-8 mesotesta and an endotesta. Any crystals, phenolic-like compounds, idioblasts, and the sclereids are not found in pericarp as well as seed coat. An overall development confirms Solanade type of embryogenesis in Abeliophyllum. The endocarp becomes more prominent in mature fruit
