Cotesia Cameron is a cosmopolitan genus of the subfamily Microgastrinae. This genus comprises more than hundreds of species (Whitfield et al., 2009). The members of the genus Cotesia parasites on larvae of Macrolepidoptera: Noctuidae, Geometridae and Saturniidae (Achterberg & Polaszek, 1996; Whitfield et al., 2009). Previously, 33 Korean species of the genus have been investigated by several researchers (Kim, 1963; 1970; Ku et al., 2001; Papp, 1974; 1990; 2003). In this study, Cotesia urabae is reported for the first time from Korea. Diagnosis, distribution, and host information are provided.

The tribe Centistini is a cosmopolitan group, comprising 94 species (Yu et al., 2016; Aguirre et al., 2017). Among them 44 species have been known from the East Palaearctic region. Centistini are known to be solitary koinobiont endoparasitoids of final instar larvae (rarely) and Coleopteran adults, particularly the families Anthicidae, Carabidae, Chrysomelidae, Coccinellidae, Curculionidae, and Staphylinidae (Loan, 1964; 1972; Shaw, 1985; Chen and Achterberg, 1997). Previously, 16 species of 1 genera of tribe Centistini, have been recorded from Korea. In the present study, a total 19 species of 2 genera of the subfamily Euphorinae is recognized from Korea. Among them, three species, Allurus liturature (Haliday), Centistes minutus Chen & Achterberg and C. sylvicola Belokobylskij are reported for the first time from Korea.

Hymenoptera is one of four largest orders of insects, with over 150,000 described species, 132 families, 27 superfamilies, and 2 suborders. There are currently about 3,000 hymenopteran species in 65 families and 20 superfamilies known in South Korea, of which the majority of the families have been studied while some of them are still poorly studied. The present overview on South Korean Hymenoptera aims to provide brief taxonomic history of the studies, a complete bibliography, a list of South Korean hymenopteran species, and information on South Korean hymenopterists for each taxon.

Previously, 16 Korean species of the genus have been investigated by several researchers (Papp, 1994; Belokobylskij, 2000a; 200b; Ku et al., 2001; Lee et al., 2016). In this study, two species of Centistes are reported for the first time from Korea: Centistes minutus Chen & Achterberg, C. sylvicola Belokobylskij. Diagnosis and photographs are provided for each species.

Meteorus Haliday is a cosmopolitan genus of the subfamily Euphorinae. This genus comprises more than 330 describedspecies (Muesebeck, 1923; Zitani and Shaw 2002; Zitani, 2003; Shaw and Nishida 2005; Stigenberg, 2008; Aguirre etal., 2015). Most species of Meteorus are koinobiont endoparasitoids of Coleoptera and Lepidoptera larvae (Huddleston,1980; Shaw and Huddleston, 1991). In this study, four species of Meteorus are reported for the first time from Korea:Meteorus brevicauda Thomson, M. colon (Haliday), M. kunashiricus Belokobylskij, and M. vexator (Haliday). Diagnosis, distribution, and host information are provided for each species.

Aphidiinae in Braconidae includes more than 400 species within approximately 60 genera worldwide. Species of Aphidiinae are mostly known as solitary koinobiont endoparasitoids specifically associated with aphid hosts, and some of them are used for biological control. In the present study, two aphiniine species are newly recognized from South Korea based on morphological and molecular study: Aphidius rhopalosiphi de Stefani-Perez 1902 and A. uzbekistanicus Luzhetzki 1960. Although It was very difficult to discriminate two species morphologically, we cleary identified them by using COI (cytochrome c oxidase subunit I) DNA Barcode sequences. Here we present their morphological descriptions, illustrations and barcoding results.

The genus Toxares (Braconidae: Aphidiinae) is reported for the first time in Korea. Members of Toxares are known as solitary koinobiont endoparasitoids especially specific for aphidine aphids. In this study, Toxares deltiger (Haliday, 1833) is found as new to Korea, which has a wide host range for 31 aphid species within Aphidinae. Thus, this species would be useful as natural enemy for biological control in the future. Diagnosis and host information are included.

The genus Sphathius is belong to the subfamily Doryctinae in the family Braconidae and are described with >300 species in the world (Shenefelt and Marsh, 1976). This genus is distinguished from other winged Doryctinae by 1) forewings with three submarginal cells; 2) first subdiscal cell of forewing closed; and 3) first metasomal segment petiolate, widening apically, lacking basal wing-like projections, and inserted on propodeum near coxal bases (Marsh, 1997). For the purpose of finding the biological agent for Asian longhorned beetle (ALB; Anoplophora glabripennis (Motschulsky)) and Citrus longhorned beetle (CLB; A. chinensis (Förster)), we had installed the ALB- and CLB-infested sentinel logs to attract parasitoids at experimental field of the Korea National Arboretum during summer season in 2014. Several L1 and L2 CLB larvae were found attacked by braconid larvae that were reared to adult stage. Their larvae are identified to Spathius gwangneungensis sp. nov. belong to the Spathius exarator species group. This new species has special characteristics as following; Body reddish brown or dark reddish brown, body length 2.5~3.7mm and forewing length 2.2~3.0mm in female and body length 2.1~2.6mm and forewing length 1.5~2.0mm in male, hind femur distinctly transversely aciculate dorsally, forewing more or less infuscate with a longitudinal hyaline band medially, vein m-cu of hind wing interstitial, second tergite entirely sculptured without striation, and third to fifth tergites basally sculptured. Ovipositor sheath 0.6 times as long as metasoma.

Two species of the genus Asiacentistes (Hymenoptera: Braconidae) are reported in this study. The genus Asiacentistes is a small braconid group distributed in the East Palaearctic and Oriental regions, which has only two species in the world. One of them, Asiacentistes sinica Chen and Belokobylskij is new to Korea. Diagnosis and distribution in East Asia data are included.
