The international standard of ISO/IEC 19774 H-Anim (Humanoid Animation) defines the hierarchical structure and modeling data of a human for the generation of human animation. A common character data format is necessary in order to share and exchange characters between different applications, including gaming applications. H-Anim can be used for this purpose, and is progressing towards further standardization of new functionalities. This paper describes the modeling and animation method of a game character based on H-Anim using a general graphics tool. It also describes an algorithm to convert from H-Anim WRL, the output file generated by the general graphics tool, to H-Anim X3D based on the H-Anim specification. In addition, an experiment is described that shows compatibility of the designed H-Anim character with a general X3D browser. General behavior animations applied directly to the H-Anim character are also included.

Riptortus clavatus is one of the most serious pests affecting the cultivation of sweet persimmon, which is one of the most important export fruits in Korea. A pheromone-baited trap has been used in attempts to control this pest. Although the trap showed relatively good trap efficacy, it was often observed that R. clavatus walks around and rests on the surface of the trap rather than entering the trap. In the present study, the development of a more efficient pheromone-baited trap for R. clavatus was pursued by investigating 3 different traps: the fish trap, the pyramidal trap, and the symmetry trap. The fish trap captured the lowest number of R. clavatus, and the pyramidal trap showed moderate capture efficacy. Significantly greater numbers of R. clavatus adults were captured in the symmetry trap. Significantly increased trapping efficacy of the symmetry trap would be useful for mass trapping of R. clavatus.

The photochemical characteristics were analyzed in the context of sowing time and different levels of fertilized nitrogen during the maize (Zea mays L.) growth. When maize was early sawn, the fluorescence parameters related with electrontransport, in photosystem II (PSII) and PSI, were effectively enhanced with the higher level of fertilized nitrogen. Highest values were observed in maize leaves grown in double Nfertilized plot. The photochemical parameters were declined in the progress of growth stage. In early growth stage, the fluorescence parameters were highest, and then reduced to about half of the parameters related with electron transport on PSII and PSI at middle and late growth stages. In 1/2 N plot, the photochemical energy dissipation was measured to 13% in term of active reaction center per absorbed photon resulting in decrease in performance index and driving force of electron. This decrease induced to lower the photochemical effectiveness. In 2 N plots, the electron transport flux from QA to QB per cross section and the number of active PSII RCs per cross section were considerably enhanced. It was clearly indicated that the connectivity between photosynthetic PSII and PSI, i.e. electron transport, was far effective.
