In order to communicate brand concepts and values to the young generations, many brands are highly active on social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. Brand-Generated Content has already become the most common marketing strategy for fashion brands and plays a significant role in influencing consumers’ purchase intention. With increased competition on social media platforms, companies need to understand which posting features can bring in more consumer engagements such as number of likes and comments on social media platforms. In this paper, we develop (1) a model to predict the number of likes and (2) a methodology to detect anomaly of posts that have unusually high percentage of negative user comments based on Instagram design variables, including semantic text meanings, facial expressions, color scheme and background of photos, and post timing, among others. We collected a data set of brand-generated Instagram posts from ten fashion brands. The data covers the image, text, and user comments posted between 2019 and 2020. Image features were extracted using Convolutional Neural Network, and text topics were generated through Latent Dirichlet Allocation. Our results will help managers design Instagram posts to increase consumer engagement and to reduce negative consumer reactions.

Measuring service quality and related key dimensions has been an important problem in Marketing. In this research, we would introduce a smart methodological framework to efficiently identify refined, key sentiment dimensions for measuring the service quality using both traditional survey and unstructured online reviews (natural survey). The proposed framework consists of three parts: (1) steps for preprocessing the unstructured reviews to generate attribute-level sentiments for independent variables (2) Bayesian regression to efficiently identify key groups of correlated attributes and (3) post-hoc analysis for identifying dimensions from the selected groups of correlated attributes and predicting dimension-level effects. Note, the first part of the framework (i.e., preprocessing) is not required for analyzing traditional surveys. Our framework provides two sets of complementing results such as attribute-level effects under the identified dimensions and aggregate dimension-level effects. In the first application study to traditional SERVQUAL data, we successfully validated the proposed framework by comparing the results between our framework and three commonly used existing methods of regression, lasso regression, and factor analysis. In the second empirical application study with the online reviews from a major game review website, STEAM platform, we found that our framework provided a significantly reduced number of key dimensions which were surprisingly efficient for predicting and explaining the service quality ratings, compared with the same set of compared methods in the first study plus the topic model. In particular, with reviews of 2,825 games, three key dimensions of Mechanical playability, Fun in fantasy and Money for value were identified, and we also found that the Mechanical playability could be an important driver of game popularity.

Recently, Japan’s government has announced Tokyo Electric Power Company’s plan to discharge contaminated water stored from the tanks of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant site into the sea. The contaminated water is treated by advanced liquid processing system (ALPS) to remove 62 radionuclide containing cesium, strontium, iodine and etc. using co-precipitation (or precipitation) and adsorption for other nuclides (except for tritium and carbon-14). The total amount of the contaminated water generated by ALPS facility is 1,311,736 m3 (as of August 18, 2022). The amount of contaminated water is estimated same as Tokyo dome volume. Under the sea discharge plan, the contaminated water will be diluted in seawater more than 100 times, and tritium concentration lowered 1/7 of the drinking water standard set by the World Health Organization (10,000 Bq/liters). The diluted water will then move through an undersea tunnel and be discharged about 1 kilometer off the coast.

After the Fukushima accident in 2011, a huge amount of radioactively contaminated water is being generated by cooling the melted fuel of units 1, 2 and 3. Most of contaminated water is seawater and underwater containing not only salt elements but also nuclear fission products with radioactivity. To treat the contaminated water, Cs/Sr removal facilities such as KURION and SARRY are being operated by TEPCO. Additionally, three ALPS facilities are on operation to meet the regularity standards for discharge to the sea. However, massive secondary wastes such as Zeolite, sludge and adsorbent is being generated by these facilities for liquid water treatment. The secondary wastes containing various radionuclide with Cs and Sr is difficult to store due to highly radioactive concentration and corrosive properties. In Japan, a variety of technologies such as GeoMelt vitrification, In-Can vitrification and CCIM vitrification is considered as a promising solution. In this study, they were reviewed, and the advantage and disadvantage of each technology were evaluated as the candidate technologies for thermal treatment of sludge radwaste.

In KHNP CRI, the 100 kW PTM (plasma torch melting) system was designed for the treatment and disposal technology of various radioactive wastes including the metal, concrete, liquid waste and insulator. The facility consists of melting chamber, thermal decomposition chamber, waste feeding system and off-gas treatment system. In this study, to evaluate the applicability of the PTM system, demonstration test was conducted using the radiation hazmat suit as combustible waste. The plasma melting chamber is pre-heated by 2nd combustion device and plasma torch for 5 hours. The temperature inside the plasma melting chamber is approximately 1,600°C. The combustible waste was put into the melting chamber by the pusher feeding device with the throughput of maximum 50 kg/hour. During the test, the power of plasma torch is 60–96 kW on the transferred mod. It was evaluated in terms of long-term integrity of PTM system on operation according to the waste throughput ratio.

Plasma melting technology has been considered as promising technology for treatment of radioactive wastes. According to the IAEA TECDOC-1527 report (2006), the technology has an advantage that it can treat regardless of waste types which is both combustible and non-combustible wastes. In particular, it is expected that a large amount of concrete, a representative non-combustible wastes, will be generated during the operation and dismantling of nuclear power plants. In order to treat the concrete waste in plasma torch melting system, various factors could be considered like the slag of electric conductivity, viscosity and melting temperature. Above all, as a critical factor, the viscosity of the melt is very important to easily discharge the melt. The viscosity of slag (SiO2-CaO-Al2O3 system) can be lowered by adding a basic oxide such as CaO, Na2O, MgO and MnO. The basic oxides are donors of oxygen ions. These oxides are called notwork breakers, because they destroy the network of SiO2 by reacting with it. In this study, the slag composition of the concrete waste was developed to apply the plasma torch melting. Also, demonstration test was performed with the developed slag composition and 100 kW plasma torch melting system.

In this work, narrow-band green-emitting CsPbBr3 particles are embedded in commercialized glass composites by a facile dry process. By optimizing the method through sintering in glass frit (GF) composites including CsBr and PbBr2, used as precursors, the encapsulation of CsPbBr3 particles made them waterproof with green fluorescence. To improve the fluorescent properties by reducing aggregation of CsPbBr3, fumed silica (FS) is additionally used to help particles avoid bulking up in the glass matrix. The CsPbBr3 perovskite/glass composites are characterized using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) maps, which support the existence of CsPbBr3 particles in the glass matrix. The photoluminescence (PL) properties demonstrate that the emission spectrum peak, full width at half maximum (FWHM), and photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) values are 519 nm, 17 nm, and 17.7 %. We also confirm the water-resistant properties. To enhance water/moisture stability, the composite sample is put directly into water, with its PLQY monitored periodically under UV light.

Online search advertising (aka, sponsored or paid search advertising) is a technology that any matched advertisement is displayed on Web pages as online users’ query results from search engines and Web portals (e.g., Google, Bing, Baidu, Naver, and Yahoo!). In specific, after online users type search keywords on the search box (at this stage, online users become searchers), search engines match users’ query texts to phrases included in search advertisement. Then, if an advertiser’s investment on her/his search advertisement is high enough, the advertisement is likely to be displayed on a search engine results (called “impression”) (Hanson and Kalyanam 2007; Jansen et al. 2009; Jansen and Clark 2017; Moore, Stammerjohan, and Coulter 2005). Once a searcher clicks a displayed advertisement and arrives on the advertiser’s landing page, s/he becomes a visitor by clicking the impression. As benefits of utilizing search keywords, online search advertising can reduce search costs and increase information accessibility by potential customers. In addition, because online search advertising provides relevant search results based on the users’ own queries, it is considered less intrusive than banner advertisement and widely used by many marketers (Ghose and Yang 2009; Johnson, Bruner, and Kumar 2006; Quinton and Khan 2009; Rangaswamy, Giles, and Seres 2009; Yang and Ghose 2010).
