        Amphibians are the most threatened vertebrate group worldwide, largely because their biphasic life cycle depends on both aquatic and terrestrial environments and is highly sensitive to fine-scale hydrological variation. Under accelerating habitat loss and climate-driven shifts in rainfall regimes, substitute habitats are increasingly used as a practical conservation measure. Yet their effectiveness cannot be assumed from physical construction alone. When such sites attract individuals but fail to sustain breeding and recruitment, they may function as ecological traps rather than compensatory habitats. This concern is especially acute for the Boreal digging frog, Kaloula borealis, an explosive breeder whose reproductive success depends on the persistence of temporary aquatic habitat during the larval period. We integrated 191 field surveys from four substitute habitats with daily NASA POWER meteorological data and analyzed habitat performance using a weather-normalized framework that accounted for climatic variability among survey periods. The analyses revealed a clear decoupling between structural performance, defined as the capacity to retain breeding-season water, and functional performance, defined as the capacity to translate retained water into aquatic breeding opportunity. Incheon- Geomdan showed the strongest structural buffering, whereas Gwangmyeong-Siheung exhibited the highest functional breeding performance. Cheonan-Jiksan maintained intermediate but balanced performance across both dimensions, while Asan-Tangjeong was consistently poor in both, indicating potential sink-like characteristics. These findings show that restoration success in amphibian substitute habitats cannot be reduced to a single metric or to breeding records from a single year. Habitat evaluation should instead distinguish settlement, hydrological persistence, and breeding function, and interpret them under standardized climatic conditions. This framework provides a stronger basis for adaptive management and for designing substitute habitats that support long-term population viability rather than temporary occupancy.

        괭이갈매기는 국내에서 서식하는 대표적인 바닷새로, 서해와 남해뿐만 아니라 동해까지 집단 번식지가 존재하고 있다. 하지만 현재 괭이갈매기에 대한 연구의 대부분이 서해와 남해에서 번식하는 개체에 집중되고 있어, 동해 지역에 대한 연구가 상대적으로 부족한 상황이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 동해 울릉도에서 번식하는 괭이갈매기 4개체를 대상으로 2021년과 2022년 5월에 야생동물 위치추적기(WT-300)를 부착하여 이동경로와 행동권 분석을 실시하였다. 괭이갈매기는 번식기간에 울릉도 주변 또는 강릉에서 울진에 이르는 동해 연안까지 활동범위로 삼았고, 번식기 이후에는 일본의 중남부 지역으로 이동하여 서식하는 것으로 나타났다. 국내에서 번식기간 MCP 분석에서 행동권 평균면적은 9,476± 10,066㎢로 확인되었고, KDE 분석에서는 95%일 때 3,574±3,378㎢, 50%일 때 289±200㎢로 나타났다. 번식기간 이후 일본에서의 MCP 행동권 평균면적은 1,899±3,127㎢이었고, KDE 95%는 2,844±4,787㎢, KDE 50%는 385±635㎢ 의 행동권을 보여주었다. 본 연구는 동해와 일본 연안을 이동하며 서식하는 괭이갈매기의 행동권을 제공함으로써, 괭이갈매기의 보전과 관리를 위한 기초자료로 사용될 수 있을 것으로 생각된다.

        흑비둘기는 상록수림이 분포하는 해안가 및 도서 등 동아시아-태평양 섬에만 분포하는 희귀한 종으로 생물학적 보존 가치가 높아 국내에서 천연기념물 및 멸종위기야생생물Ⅱ급으로 지정되어 있다. 본 연구는 울릉도에서 서식하는 흑비둘기 3개체를 대상으로 2021년과 2022년 6월에 야생동물 위치추적기(WT-300)를 부착하여 이동경로 및 행동권을 분석하였다. MCP(최소볼록다각형법) 분석에서 행동권 평균 면적은 9.6㎢로 확인되었고, KDE(커널밀도추정법) 는 95%일 때 6.6㎢, 50%일 때 1.8㎢로 나타났다. 개체별 MCP는 각각 BW1 0.4㎢, BW2 27.4㎢, BW3 1.0㎢으로 확인되었며, KDE 95%일 때 BW1 0.2㎢, BW2 19.4㎢, BW3 0.3㎢, KDE 50%일 때 BW1 0.02㎢, BW2 5.4㎢, BW3 0.03㎢로 나타났다. BW2의 행동권이 다른 개체들 보다 넓게 분석되었으며, 이러한 차이는 한정된 지역에 먹이 경쟁 등 서식환경에 따른 차이로 추정된다.

        Two spider species of the genus Pholcus Walckenaer, 1805, Pholcus muju sp. nov. and Pholcus yeongheung sp. nov. in the family Pholcidae C. L. Koch, 1850 are newly described from Korea. These two new species belonging to phungiformes-group in the genus can be distinguished from their congeners by the shape and structure of genital organs of both males and females. They are found on rock walls in mountainous mixed forests. This work provides diagnoses, detailed descriptions, and taxonomic photographs for these new species.

        The genus Hypsopygia was established by Hübner, 1825, with type species Phalaena costalis Fabricius, 1775. Hypsopygia is characterized by the elongated uncus and valva, and pointed saccus in the male genitalia. It consists of 105 described species (Nuss et al., 2003–2024) in the world, and 11 species have been recorded in Korea (Kim & Paek, 2020; Shin et al., 2023). In this study, we reported one newly recorded species in Korea. Illustrations of adults provided, with information of host plants of all examined species.

        The genus Olethreutes, established by Hübner in 1822, is based on the type species Phalaena arcuella Clerk, 1759. Olethreutes is one of the largest group within the family Tortricidae, with more than 130 species worldwide. As of now, about 31 species of the genus Olethreutes have been reported in the Korean peninsula. The proposes of this study is to describe one new species, with three similar species form Korea.

        A taxonomic study was conducted on Spilonota Stephens, 1834 in Korea. As a result of the research based on materials from Incheon National University two new species; S. samseong Choi, Bae & Nasu, and S. laticucullusa Choi, Bae & Nasu from Korea. This study provides a brief description of the new Spilonota species in Korea, as well as comparisons with similar species and illustrations of adult and genital morphology.

        Global warming and changes in ecosystems are either causing a rapid decline in insect diversity on earth or, on the other hand, are increasing the likelihood of unexpected insect pests emerging. This study summarizes and reports the followings: Introduction to the Insects of Red Data Book of Korea and Nationally Protected species, the establishment of monitoring strategy for exotic insects by the investigation of species distribution range through field surveys and others, the dispersal of exotic insects, and with the expansion of exotic insects and development of ecosystem impact prediction model.

        The genera Spilonota Stephens, 1834 and Lepteucosma Diakonoff, 1971 are belonging to the tribe Eucosmini, subfamily Olethreutinae. In Korea, there are five species of Spilonota recorded: S. albicana (Motschulsky, 1866), S. eremitana Moriuti, 1972, S. lechriaspis Meyrick, 1932, S. ocellana ([Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775), and S. semirufana (Christoph, 1882). Only one species of Lepteucosma is recorded: L. huebneriana (Kocak, 1980). Both genera are agricultural pests that infest host plants belonging to the family Rosaceae, specifically causing damage to genus Malus (apple trees) and genus Rubus (blackberry plants), respectively. In this study, we provide a checklist of Korean Spilonota and Lepteucosma, with information of host plants and distribution for each examined species.

        The subfamily Epipaschiinae belongs to the family Pyralidae in the superfamily Pyraloidea. Moths of the epipaschiine are mostly medium-sized, and around 705 species have been described worldwide, with most of them distributed in Tropical and Temperate Regions (Nuss et al., 2023). In this study, 24 species of 10 genera of the subfamily Epipaschiinae are identified. All of the species are accompanied by distributions, host plants, and collection site information. Illustrations of adults, male and female genitalia are provided.

        The subtribe Olethreutae Diakonoff (1973) which is one of the large subtribe in the subfamily Olethreutinae in the Tortricidae. Diakonoff classified the Olethreutae into a total of 27 genera and three genus groups: Olethreutes, Hedya, and Apotomis. According to the check list of insects from Korea (KSAE & ESK, 2021), 62 species from 11 genera of Olethreutae have been recorded in Korea. This study, provided with redescriptions, distribution, host plants, along with illustrations of adults, male and female genitalia are given.
