        This study examined the adsorption effect of aromatic pesticides by hollow fiber NF membrane on rejection and removal properties. Batch type adsorption test and hollow fiber NF membrane filtration were conducted with 5 different kinds of aromatic pesticides. 3 to 15 days were required to reach the equilibrium concentration and 0.3181∼0.8094 ㎍/㎠ were adsorbed to hollow fiber NF membrane. Since 5 hours of separation test were too short to keep steady state for permeate due to the repetition of sorption and desorption, longer times were required to evaluate the rejection performance of NF membrane. Sorption and desorption were confirmed by the separation test equipped with membrane and without membrane. Adsorption contribution of aromatic pesticides to hollow fiber membranes were shown to be ranged from 16.1% to 36.3% and indicated the difference considering sorption effect.

        In this research, chemical vapor deposition equipment built in the semiconductor·CVD (Chemical Vapor Deposition)process was introduced. Through polysulfone hollow fiber membranes under similar conditions to those of the actualprocess, conditions such as flow and pressure were used to observe the influence in order to separate and collect the SF6and CF4 substances. Results showed that as the retentate flow rate of the discharge unit increased and the residence timeto penetrate the membrane decreased, the emission concentration increased. As the pressure of the discharge unit increasedand the exhaust flow decreased, when the retentate flow rate was 10L/min, CF4 was shown to have a density of 4,963ppm, and it was 4,028ppm for SF6 the gas mixture had a concentration effect of three to four ratio. In addition, throughthe separation factor of fluorinated gases that arise in the actual process, the collection and concentration of SF6 and CF4were possible each gas’s recovery rate was higher than 99%.

        A membrane bioreactor (MBR) was designed using polyvinylidene fluoride(PVDF)-type hollow fiber membrane modules with a treatment capacity of 10 ton/day. A pilot plant was installed in a sewage treatment plant and was operated with an intermittent aeration method which avoids any concentration gradient of suspended solids (SS) in the MBR. For continuous operation, the pilot plant was first tested with influent (mixed liquor suspended solid:MLSS of 1000-2000 mg/L) of aeration tanks in the sewage treatment plant. The MBR was pre-treated with washing water, 10% ethanol solution, 5% NaOCl solution and finally washing water, one after another. To demonstrate the effect of the MBR on sewage treatment, compared with conventional activated sludge processes, we investigated the relationships among permeate amount (LMH), change in operation conditions, influent MLSS level and sludge production. It was found that the optimum aeration rate and suction pressure were 0.3 m 3 /min and 30~31 cmHg, respectively. Under stable conditions in aeration, suction pressure, influent flow rate and drainage, the SS removal efficiency was more than 99.99% even when the MLSS loading rate changes. Compared with conventional activated sludge processes, the MBR was more effective in cost reduction by 27% based on permeate amount and by 51.5% on sludge production.

        This study was carried out to investigate the filtration characteristics of membrane modules according to hollow fiber dispersion for direct solid-liquid separation of activated sludge. 2 bundle, 4 bundle, and 10 bundle module used in this experiment according to hollow fiber dispersion was manufactured at laboratory and permeate flux and transmembrane pressure(TMP) of each module were observed under a suction pressure of 0.5㎏f/㎠. As the hollow fibers were dispersed, permeate flux was increased and TMP was decreased. Permeate flux and TMP of each module was 15.0 ℓ/㎡·h and 31.8 ㎝Hg for 2 bundle, 16.0 ℓ/㎡·h and 17.4 ㎝Hg for 4 bundle, and 20.4 ℓ/㎡·h and 13.8 ㎝Hg for 10 bundle. In conclusion, the membrane fouling is expected to be decrease by maintaining lower TMP with hollow fiber dispersion.
