The Mesostigmata are a great diversity of invertebrate parasite-phoretic of insects, and free-living predators in terristerial ecosystem. The Ascidae are an important group of predator that inhabit various microhabitats such as leaf litter, rotten wood, anthills and bird’s nests. Their role in those habitats is imprtant and they can be used as biological indicator and as well as biological control agent. We collected mites from sciarid fly in mushroom. The genus Arctoseius and Arctoseius cetratus were recorded for first time in Korea. We also described the habitats and identification keys to the species. Arctoseius cetratus has short J2, Z1, Z2, and S1, S2 setae, not reaching the bases of following setae. Posterior half of dorsal shield with longitudinal garland of puncta between J and Z setae, peritremes extending anteriorly to mid-level of coxaⅡ.

The Seoul forest of urban forest park is provide places for relaxation and feeling naturally use inside the city. This study was conducted for investigating diversity of soil microarthropods for Bioblitz. Samples were collected from rose of Sharon in soil. This species was identified as N. harrowi (Collyer), described originally from New Zealand and Austrilia. This is the new record of N. harrowi in Korea. The morphological features of these two species are closely related to each other (N. makuwa (Ehara) and N. harrowi (Collyer)). So, we compared features of this species. Dorsal setae of N. harrowi are generally longer than in N. makuwa. Two posterior seta (Z4, Z5) of N. harrowi are much shorter than in the N. makuwa. In addition, there are some differences in the shape of the spermatheca, the forked atrium is larger in N. makuwa than in the N. harrowi.

Radopholus similis belong to the plant parasitic nematode family, Pratylenchidae and was recognized that injure the plant. R. similis was generally identified from bananas and plantain in the tropics. However, the occurrence of infection of R. similis on new host plant was confirmed recently. The aim of this study was to report the determination of new host plant for R. similis on Staurogyne sp. The species identification was evaluated the morphological and molecular characteristics of nine R. similis. Molecular assay was designed from the internal transcribed spacer region (ITS) of ribosomal DNA to distinguish species. Nematodes from Staurogyne sp. showed almost similar morphological and morphometric characteristics in general R. similis, but some variation in tail shape was confirmed. Also, male was not detectable. Molecular assay showed a high level (97%) of similarity in the TW81-AB28 and 18S-28S sequences (ITS region) with corresponding NCBI sequence. The quarantine should be more intensely to detect the prohibited nematode.

We provide the first report on Stigmaeopsis miscanthi Saito, which was identified from Chinese silver grass Miscanthus sinensis on Ulleung Island in Korea. This species is one of the S. celarius complex, which involves several cryptic species. S. miscanthi has longer second dorsal propodosomal setae (P2), which is an important characteristic for species identification in the genus Stigmaeopsis. We determined nucleotide sequences of the internal transcribed spacer 2 (ITS2) and cytochrome c oxidase subunit I (COI) of S. miscanthi. The COI sequence differed by 0.6% between Korean and Japanese strains. The comparison between S. miscanthi and S. celarius showed that ITS2 and COI differed by 7.2% and 7.9%, respectively. In addition, species-specific primer sets of both species were designed to show the species classification within the genus.

Anoplophora isa moderate-sized genus with 36 species of woodboring cerambycid beetles that occur throughout Asia, with the highest diversity in the tropical and subtropical region. Two species, A. chinensis (Forster) and A. glabripennis (Motchulsky) are known in the Korean peninsula. The latter is an infamous invasive species, commonly called the Asian longhorned beetle, in the U.S. causing economic damage on hard woods. For the present study, we carried out field surveys from 2010 to 2013 and literature review on the host plants of Korean Anoplophora species. A. chinensis is associated with 14 host plant species in 4 families and A. glabripennis 17 species of 11 families. Most importantly, the Manchurian striped maple, Acer tegmentosum Maxim. (Aceraceae), is newly recognized as a host of the Asian longhorned beetle. In the present study, a revised host plant checklist of Korean Anoplophora species is provided, with correction of scientific and Korean names of the host plants.

The superfamily Proctotrupoidea is cosmopolitan and diverse group comprising 11 extant families: Austroniidae, Diapriidae, Heloridae, Maamingidae, Monomachidae, Pelecinidae, Peradeniidae, Proctorenyxidae, Proctotrupidae, Roproniidae, Vanhorniidae. But, Recently a separate superfamily Diaprioidea was recognized to include Diapriidae, Monomachidae and Maamingidae (Sharkey, 2007; Sharkey et al., 2012). Among them, three families are found in South Korea: Heloridae (Choi et al., 2012), Diapriidae (Notton, 1994), Proctotrupidae (Choi et al, 2012; Lee et al., 1988; Lee et al., 2008). Proctorenyxidae Lelej & Kozlov, a very small family of Proctotrupoidea, contains only 2 genera with 2 species in the world: Hsiufuropronia chaoi Yang, 1997 from China; Proctorenyxa incredibilis (Kozlov) from Russian Far East. These are morphologically distinguished from other families of Proctotrupoidea families by the following combination of characteristics: antennal scape very short; vein Rs of fore wing not bifurcated apically; fore wing with pterostigma; gaster with narrow petiole; tergite 8 with two spiracles. And, the biology of this family is completely unknown. Here we report one unrecorded species, Proctorenyxa incredibilis (Kozlov, 1994), for the first time in Korea and provide photographs for the diagnostic characters.

New record of family of arhynchobdellida leeches (Orobdellidae) from Gageodo Island is presented. We have surveyed for land leeches in Korea from July to September in 2011 and found 1 species. This is Orobdella tsushimensis Nakano, 2011, reported for the first time in Korean Peninsula. This species gets the following characteristics: IV unianulate; 1/2+5 annuli between gonopores; bottle-shaped gastroporal duct; and epididymides in XVII–XIX. According to their morphological features, the diagnosis of O. tsushimensis is slightly emended. Phylogenetic analyses using mitochondrial COI, tRNACys, tRNAMet, 12SrDNA, tRNAVal and 16SrDNA markers show that the Orobdella specimen from Gageodo Isl. and O. tsushimensis from Tsushima Island, Japan, form a monophyletic clade and also confirm the identification of the Orobdella specimens from Gageodo Isl.

New record of family of arhynchobdellid leeches (Hirudiniformes: Haemadipsidae) from Korea is presented. We have surveyed for land leeches in Korea from July to September in 2011 and found 1 species. This is Haemadipsa rjukjuana Oka, 1910, reported for the first time in Korean Peninsula. This species is terrestrial blood-feeding leech which attacks medium or large sized mammals primarily, including human and originally distributed in East and South East Asia, including Indochinese Peninsula, Malay Peninsula, Ryukyu Islands and Taiwan. In Japan, the number and areas of habitats of land leech have been rapidly expanded since 1970s and many leeches attack forest workers, hikers and resident during May to September. As a result of climate change, same situation can be reproduced in Korean Peninsula. We firstly report the occurrence of blood-feeding land leech, the behavior on human being and distributions in Korea. Also, we obtained the sequence of the mitochondrial gene (COI) and additional biology is discussed for this species according to collection data.
