This study attempted to examine how the airline safety reporting system affects the go-around that may occur when flight crew members operate an aircraft. In addition, we sought to determine how the captain's awareness of command responsibility intervenes and influences the relationship between safety reporting and go-around. The results of the study showed that among the official safety reporting subfactors, Response & Feedback had a statistically significant effect on go-around(ΔR2 = .009, p < .05). In the relationship between formal safety reporting and go-around, the moderating effect of command responsibility(β = .595, p < .05) showed statistically significant results. In addition, the interaction effect between Response & Feedback and Command & Responsibility was confirmed through a simple slope test, and as a result, it had a statistically significant effect when Command & Responsibility was low.

The aim of this study was to develop a pattern of flight attendant uniform shirts to provide better comfort for their work postures. Flight attendants’ work postures were evaluated to determine the problems of clothing and mobility during their work. The pattern of the flight attendants’ uniform shirt was altered by applying dynamic wearing ease(DWE). DWE was calculated from four standardized dynamic postures and a static posture. An experimental garment was made with the altered postures. The researcher redesigned the pattern of the uniform shirts, which minimizes physical limitations in movements. The fit and mobility of the shirts were evaluated. Results of this study are as follows. First, the five representative work postures were selected by “clothing stress” and “repetitiveness.” These postures included raised arms, twisting midriff and shoulder postures. Five representative postures were selected by using the ergonomic posture assessment device index(OWAS). Second, the experimental garment was developed by applying DWE across the back and at armhole depth, back length, and side length. Third, the fit and mobility of the experimental garments and the original uniform shirts were compared at the flight working environment set and 5 dynamic body postures of raising arms. The experimental garments made with an altered pattern provided better fit and mobility than the original sample shirts.

The purpose of this study is to investigate systematic and comprehensive explanation about safety behavior by applying integrated model of Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) and Social Cognitive Theory (SCT). By showing the interrelationship of effects of factors affecting safety behavior in a single model, comprehensive understanding regarding safety behavior will be possible. Research design, data, and methodology: This study try to integrate the two theory, TPB and SCT, to introduce background factors, such as safety culture, affecting cognitive factors of subjective norm, safety attitude, perceived behavioral control, safety consciousness, which are again affecting behavior intention of the TPB. We composed 73 questionnaire to analyse the relationship among factors affecting safety behavior. The questionnaire were distributed to stewards and stewardesses of KAL, ASIANA, and LCCs. 422 were collected and used for analysis. Factor analysis, regression analysis, and control effect analysis were conducted using SPSS windows version 2.0. Results: The safety culture, safety atmosphere, and safety education/training were turned out to affect subjective norm, safety attitude, perceived behavioral control, safety consciousness. And the cognitive factors also showed to affect safety intention significantly. The results that safety intention affects safety behavior was found. Also there are control effect of cost consciousness and punishment while safety intention affects safety behavior. Conclusions: Safety is the virtue that should be given first priority to in our daily life. To secure safety, everyone in an organization should have high level of safety intention and conduct safety behavior. The study results provide systematic and comprehensive understandings on the relationship among factors affecting cabin crews’ safety behavior. The results will help design safety related regulations, education/training, and support employees to engage in safety behavior related activities.
