        We report the discovery of four quasars with M1450 ≳ −25.0 mag at z ∼ 5 and supermassive black hole mass measurement for one of the quasars. They were selected as promising high-redshift quasar candidates via deep learning and Bayesian information criterion, which are expected to be effective in discriminating quasars from the late-type stars and high-redshift galaxies. The candidates were observed by the Double Spectrograph on the Palomar 200-inch Hale Telescope. They show clear Lyα breaks at about 7000–8000 ˚A, indicating they are quasars at 4.7 < z < 5.6. For HSC J233107-001014, we measure the mass of its supermassive black hole (SMBH) using its Civ λ1549 emission line. The SMBH mass and Eddington ratio of the quasar are found to be ∼108 M⊙ and ∼0.6, respectively. This suggests that this quasar possibly harbors a fast growing SMBH near the Eddington limit despite its faintness (LBol < 1046 erg s−1). Our 100% quasar identification rate supports high efficiency of our deep learning and Bayesian information criterion selection method, which can be applied to future surveys to increase high-redshift quasar sample.

        Admirandus multicavus Belogurov and Belogurova, 1979, a new record of free-living marine nematode species belonging to family Oncholaimidae is reported based on the specimens collected from the intertidal sediments of Korea. Admirandus multicavus is characterized by the following unique characteristics: cephalic setae (1-2 μm long), spicules (71-126 μm long) and gubernaculum (15-31 μm long), midventral preanal supplementary organ, three glandular duct openings of the Demanian system, and stoma length measuring twice the width. A comparative analysis of the biogeographical and ecological characteristics of Admirandus species is presented. DIC (Differential interference contrast) photomicrographs of the species are also provided herein. This report represents the first taxonomic analysis of the genus Admirandus Belogurov and Belogurova, 1979 discovered from the Korean seawaters.

        The Nannophya species in Korea was thought to consist of only Nannophya pygmaea. Previous studies on the species, including life history and development, conservation and restoration, habitat characteristics, genetic studies, distribution, behavior, and taxonomy have been conducted. However, a new Nannophya species, Nannophya koreana, was recently discovered in Korea. Moreover, this new species was found to inhabit both Korea and Japan. Thus, the previous studies should be reevaluated in relation to the new species, Nannophya koreana, and the latter should be treated as an endangered species worldwide given the current population instability.

        세계적으로 관상작물의 중요한 나방류 해충의 하나인 Duponchelia fovealis Zeller가 2015년과 2016년에 경기도에서 처음으로 발견되었다. 유충이 꽃기린(Euphorbia milii)의 줄기 속을 파고 들어가거나 게발선인장(Schlumbergera truncata)의 잎을 가해하는 피해가 확인되었다. 유충과 피 해 확인 직후 합성농약을 살포하였고, 현재까지 추가적인 발견은 없었다.

        Leucospidae Walker are a relatively small family in Chalcidoidea, and they consist of four genera and about 140 species in worldwide. In neighboring countries, 12 species are known from China and four species are known from Japan, but only one species is known from South Korea by Paik (1974). In this study, Leucospis yasumatsui Habu is reported for the frist time from South Korea. A key to South Korean species of the genus Leucospis Fabricius, diagnosis, photos of characteristics and distribution from South Korea are provided.

        In 2006, a bronze drum was founded at Hanoi City Vietnam. There is a inscription engraved with Gold Yan (􆄒􄑘) One Zhong (􆄎) Six Jun (􆅟) Five Jin (􃓥) Eight Liang (􂂪) named Fu Di Wei (􂬍􄩭􃙫􂊂􁵁) Eleven. The inscription is the longest inscriptions have been found in the three sides of the lettering Tonggu side. According to the judgment of diction type, as the Dongson bronze drum during the period of South Yue in early Western Han Dynasty. That is the artifact of Nan Yue. Yan (􄑘) is small cooker with appearance of small in the middle and big at both ends. Bronze Yan (􄑘) is also a ritual, folk with Pottery Yan (􆖷􄑘). The bronze drum named Jin Yan (􆄒􄑘) because the southern people coming from Qin Dynasty according to the Jin Yan’ (􆄒􄑘) appearance of small in the middle and big at both ends. Bronze drum engraved the word Jin Yan (􆄒􄑘) show the historical details of southern people coming from Qin Dynasty accept and named bronze drums. It also present the first character name, Gold Yan (􆄒􄑘), in front of the people.

        대부분의 십이지장 천공은 증상을 유발하므로 급성기에 발견된다. 그러므로 시기를 알 수 없이 우연히 발견된 만성 십이지장 천공은 드물고 치료의 기준도 명확하지 않다. 본 증례 경우에는 보존적 치료 후에 병변이 호전되었다. 이와 같이 우연히 천공이 발견된 증례는 드물고 향후 관심이 필 요할 것으로 사료되어 문헌 고찰과 함께 보고한다.

        It has been suggested that only the most luminous AGNs (L ≳ 1045 erg/s) are triggered by galaxy mergers, while less luminous AGNs (L ~ 1043 erg/s) are driven by other internal processes. The lack of merging features in low luminosity AGN host galaxies has been a primary argument against the idea of merger triggering of low luminosity AGNs. But a merger, especially a rather minor one, might still have played an important role in low luminosity AGNs, as minor merging features at low luminosities are more difficult to identify than major merging features. Using SNUCAM on the 1.5 m telescope at Maidanak observatory, we obtained deep optical images of NGC 7743, a barred spiral galaxy classified as a Seyfert 2 AGN with a low bolometric luminosity of 5 X 1042 erg/s. Surprisingly, we discovered a merging feature around the galaxy, which indicates past merging activity in the galaxy. This example indicates that the merging fraction of low luminosity AGNs may be much higher than previously thought, hinting at the importance of galaxy mergers even in low luminosity AGNs.

        In this work we present the results of light curve analysis for two cataclysmic variables detected recently in the SDSS project: SDSS J090350.73+330036.1 and J150240.98+333423.9. Photometric observations of the rst were obtained during a superoutburst in May 2010. Our observations clearly indicate the presence of superhumps in the light curves, suggesting SDSS J090350.73+330036.1 is an SU UMa dwarf nova. We determined the period of the superhumps. We also carried out fitting using a spiral-arm model in order to determine parameters of the accretion disk, hot line, and other components of this system. Photometric observations of the second, J150240.98+333423.9, were obtained during the post-maximum decline, during April-June 2012. Photometric variability of this system has been studied in an inactive state. We obtained its parameters via a combined model fitted to the observed light curves by X2 mini- mization.

        We investigate the relation between star formation activity and PAH 3.3 μm emission. Our targets are mid-infrared-excess galaxies selected from the AKARI all-sky survey point source catalog. We performed AKARI near-infrared spectroscopy for them. As a result, we obtained 2.5 − 5 μm spectra of 79 galaxies, and selected 35 star-forming galaxies out of them. Comparing the PAH 3.3 μm luminosities with the infrared luminosities, we find a linear correlation between them. However, by adding the results from literatures for luminous infrared galaxies and ultra-luminous infrared galaxies that are more luminous than our sample, the ratio of the PAH to the infrared luminosity is found to decrease towards the luminous end.
