        This study was to develop the automatic fin tube cutting machine, equipped with semi-automatic supplying board, automatic transfer equipment, fin tube holder, and cutting equipment assembly for the effective and safe fin tube cutting. The development of the automatic fin tube cutting machine resulted in improving 150% of productivity, 300% of cutting length precision, and 230% of a vertical angle precision on the cutting plane. In addition, we were able to secure safety of the workers and to automate production management, and further to reduce environmental pollution by recycling cutting chips.

        In this paper, the hybrid tube expander unit for fin and tube type heat exchanger are developed by means of enlarging and inserting the smooth tube with a small diameter to a finned tube having larger diameter. In other word, the tube expander tool that is easy to attach and remove from tube is developed. The hybrid tube expander unit developed in this study can move easily and enlarge the tube without fixing at tube sheet. Also, this unit has a function removing scales inside tube by replacing a tube expander ball.

        Heat transfer enhancement of fin-tube heat exchangers with vortex generators is investigated using naphthalene sublimation technique. Experiments are performed for the fin-flat tube and the fin-circular tube heat exchangers with and without vortex generator. Vortex generators are found to enhance heat transfer rate on the fin surface dramatically. Their effect is relatively high in the fin-flat tube heat exchanger compared to fin-circular tube heat exchanger. Performance test is done for the prototype of air-conditioning heat exchanger and gas boiler heat exchanger with and without vortex generators .Fin-flat tube heat exchanger with vortex generator promote local heat transfer coefficient by 75% and increase friction factor, but friction of fin-flat tube heat exchanger with vortex generator is lower than that of fin-circular tube heat exchanger without vortex generator by 45%

        The heat transfer performance of R - 11 vapor condensing on integral fin tubes has been studied using fin tubes having the fin density from 748 to 1654 fins per meter. Electric heater supplied heat energy to the boiler to generate R - 11 vapor over the range of 25-60W. Condensation rates of each tubes were tested under the condition of cooling water flow rate from 400l/h to 2500l/h. For the seven fin tubes tested, the best performance has been obtained with a tube having a fin density of 1417fpm and a fin height of 1.3mm. This tube has yielded a maximum value of the heat transfer coefficient of 16500W/m2K, at a vapor to wall temperature difference of 3K. Experimental results of integral fin tubes have been compared with available predictive models such as Beatty - Katz's analysis, Webb's analysis, Sukhatme's analysis and Rudy's empirical relation. The experimental results were shown to be in good agreement with that of the Sukhatme's analysis.

        This work studies for boiling and condensation heat transfer performance of trapezoidally shaped integral-fin tubes having fin densities from 748fpm to 1654fpm. For comparison, tests are made using a plain tube having the same inside and outside diameter as that of the root of fins of finned tubes. Hahne's theoretical model and Webb's theoretical model are used to predict the R-11 boiling heat transfer coefficient and condensing heat transfer coefficient respectively for plain tube and all integral-fin tubes. Experiments are carried out using R-11 as working fluid. This work is limited to film-wise condensation and pool boiling on the outside surface of plain tube and 4 low integral-fin tubes. In case of condensation, the refrigerant condenses at saturation state of 32℃ on the outside tube surface cooled by coolant and in case of boiling. the refrigerant evaporates at saturation state of 1bar on the outside tube surface. The amount of non-con-densable gases in the test loop is reduced to a negligible value by repeated purging. The actual boiling and condensing processes occur on the outside tube surfaces. Hence the nature of this surface geometry affects the heat transfer performances of condenser and evaporator in refrigerating system. The condensation heat transfer coefficient of integral-fin tube is enhanced by both extended tube surface area and surface tension. The ratio of the condensation heat transfer coefficients of finned to plain tubes is greater than that of surface area of finned to plain tubes, while ratio of the boiling heat transfer coefficient of finned to plain tubes shows reverse result. As a result, low integral-fin tube can be used in condenser more effectively than used in evaporator.

        Sexual dimorphism is the most conspicuous difference between the sexes. This study examines possible sexual dimorphism and the relative growth patterns of morphometric characteristics in the marine medaka, Oryzias dancena for their potential to help differentiate between males and females of this species. The von Bertalanffy growth parameters estimated by a non-linear regression method were L∞=30.2 mm, K=3.22/year, and τ0=-0.05. All 18 characteristics measured showed a difference between males and females from 70 days after hatching. Each of these characteristics were significantly different between sexes (ANCOVA, P<0.05), and the ratio of standard length between sexes showed that males were larger than females for all five morphometric measurements. Fin length measurements were taken for 21 distances of anal fin and 7 distances of dorsal fin between landmarks. There were all differences for all dorsal fin rays between the males and the females and there is significant difference in 70 days after their hatch when the sexual dimorphism is presented. The significant difference (P<0.05) in fin ray for male and female was more greatly seen as they grow. Male marine medaka showed more rapid growth than females, with longer length, dorsal fins and anal fins. Differences in these characteristics will be useful during experiments when it is necessary to differentiate between sexes of marine medaka.

        Fish generates thrust with a compliant fin which is known to increase the efficiency. In this paper, the performance of a robotic dolphin, the velocity and the stability, was improved using an optimal compliant caudal fin under certain oscillating frequency. Optimal compliance of the caudal fin exists that maximizes the thrust at a certain oscillating frequency. Four different compliant fins were used to find the optimal compliance of the caudal fin at a certain frequency using the half-pi phase delay condition. The swimming results show that the optimal compliant fin increases the velocity of the robotic fish. The compliance of the caudal fin was also shown to improve the stability of the robotic fish. A reactive motion at the head of the robotic dolphin causes fluctuation of the caudal fin. This phenomenon increases with the oscillating frequency. However, compliant fin reduced this fluctuation and increased the stability.

        거친 바다를 운항하는 선박의 경우 횡 동요로 인해 선박 내의 장비운영 문제 및 탑승객들에게 큰 불편함을 초래한다. 따라서 횡동요 감쇠를 위한 목적으로 빌지 킬, 핀 안정기, 자이로스코프, ART(Anti-Rolling Tank), 타, 플랩 등 다양한 횡 동요 감쇠장치들이 사용되고 있다. 콴다효과는 콴다제트가 곡면의 표면을 따라 흐르며 주위 유동의 순환을 증가시켜 양력을 효과적으로 발생시키는 방법으로 핀의 양력성능을 향상시킬 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 모형시험 및 수치계산을 통해 콴다효과를 적용한 고정식 핀 안정기의 사용가능성을 검토하였다. 그 결과 받음각이 0˚에서, 제트모멘텀을 Cj = 0.25 만큼 공급할 때, 기준 핀의 최대 작동각(26˚)에서 발생되는 양력과 동일하게 발생되는 것으로 나타났다. 즉 받음각을 변화시키는 기존의 핀 안정기와 달리 받음각을 고정하고, 콴다효과를 통한 제트유동제어만으로 선박의 횡 동요를 능동적으로 제어 할 수 있을 것으로 보인다.

        A predictive controller can solve a control problem related to a disturbance-dominant system such as roll stabilization of a ship in waves. In this paper, a predictive controller is developed for a fin stabilizer. Future wave-induced moment is modeled simply using two typical regular wave components for which six parameters are identified by the recursive Fourier transform and the least squares method using the past time series of the roll motion. After predicting the future wave-induced moment, optimal control theory is applied to discover the most effective command fin angle that will stabilize the roll motion. In the results, wave prediction performance is investigated, and the effectiveness of the predictive controller is compared to a conventional PD controller.

        세일링요트의 추진시 횡류를 방지하기 위하여 선체 하부에 킬을 부착하게 되는데 이는 세일의 양력에 의한 횡흐름을 멈추게 하는 역할과 힐 모멘트를 없애고 복원력을 생기게 한다. 이는 안전성에 영향을 미치기 때문에 적절한 킬의 선택은 중요하다고 할 수 있다. 또한 킬 하부에 부가물의 부착은 발라스트 중량중심을 낮춤으로서 선체 복원력에 중요한 영향을 미치므로 킬에 대한 최적형상 도출은 매우 중요하다. 이에, 본 연구에서는 저항성능 향상을 위한 동일 침수표면적의 핀킬 하부 부가물에 따른 저항특성을 비교 실험하였다. 실험방법으로는 회류 수조를 이용하여 3가지 핀킬 하부 부가물 모형킬을 모형선에 부착하여 형상별 저항특성을 비교 분석하였다. 분석 결과에 따른 저항감소 최적 형상을 도출 하였다.
