        This study surveyed the fishing efficiency for Japanese common squid based on improvements made to LED fishing lamps by utilizing the training ship of Gangwon Provincial College. The training ship, Haesong-ho (24 tons), was equipped with seventy-two 150W electric power LED fishing lamps (10.8kW), and their fishing efficiency and fuel consumption level were surveyed for a total of ten times during the period between June 15, 2009 and July 27, 2009. In addition, the training ship was equipped with seventy-one 300W electric power LED fishing lamps (21.3kW) and their fishing efficiency and fuel consumption level were surveyed for a total of five times during the period between January 17, 2010 and August 4, 2010. In order to compare the fishing efficiency of LED fishing lamps, the catch of another fishing vessel equipped with Metal Halide (MH) fishing lamps of 120kW for the same period and at the same fishing grounds. The fuel consumption levels during the fishing operation of Haesong-ho was about 1,047.7 liters which was approximately 19.9% of the total fuel consumption level of 5,262.6 liters, and the fuel consumption level per operation hour was on average 9.2 liters. The number of Japanese common squid caught by the LED fishing lamp-equipped fishing vessel ranged from 12 to 1,640 squid for each fishing trial and the average quantity was 652. The number of Japanese common squid caught by the MH fishing lamp-equipped 10 fishing vessels ranged from 40 to 4,800 squid and the average quantity was 2,055. The fishing of Japanese common squid was done by the use of hand lines and an automatic jigging machine. The number of Japanese common squid caught per hand line and a single roller of the automatic jigging machine was in the proportion of 50.8% to 49.2% with respect to the LED fishing lamp-equipped fishing vessel. However, the number of Japanese common squid caught per hand line and a single roller of the automatic jigging machine was in the proportion of 86.4% to 13.6% with respect to the MH fishing lamp-equipped fishing vessel where most of the catch was made by hand lines. On the other hand, in comparing the number of Japanese common squid caught per automatic jigging machine, the number of squid caught by the LED fishing lamp-equipped fishing vessel was about the same or greater than the number of squid caught by the MH fishing lamp-equipped fishing vessel.

        This study made a comparative analysis of behavioral reaction of squid to red (624nm), green (524nm), blue (460nm) & white LED light, its arrival time for the shadow section by making the shadow section in the central section of a water tank just like the bottom part of a squid jigging vessel, and on-site catching efficiency of LED fishing lamp with control fishing vessel. The color LED light showing the highest squidgathering rate as against the shadow section was found to be blue LED light with 39.3% rate under the dark (0.05lx) condition. Under the brighter condition than 0.05lx, white LED light was found to have the highest gathering rate of 41.5%. In addition, it was found that squid gathering rate was high at the shadow section which showed 6.3-fold brightness difference between the shadow section and bright section. As for the arrival time for the shadow section, blue LED light was found to be the fastest in attracting squids in 192.7 seconds under the dark condition while the red LED light was the fastest in luring squids in 164.6 seconds under the bright condition. The ratio of the squid-jigging operation and sailing in fuel consumption of the fishing vessel loaded with LED fishing lamp is about 7 to 1, showing most of the fuel is consumed more in sailing than in squid-jigging operation. As for a catch of squid, the control vessel loaded with MH (Metal Halide) fishing lamp had more catch of 600-7,080 squids than the vessel loaded with LED fishing lamp having a catch of 260-1,700 squids. In addition, even in the comparison of a catch per automatic jigging machine, the catch of the vessel loaded with MH fishing lamp excelled that of the vessel loaded with LED fishing lamp in 6 operations of squid jigging out of 9 operations. The ratio of hand-jigging and automatic jigging machine (one line) in the LED fishing lamp vessel was 1:1.1 excepting the case of having a catch only using an automatic jigging machine, showing almost the same with each other in catches, while in case of a MH fishing lamp vessel, its ratio against hand-jigging was 1 to 5.8, showing hand-jigging excelled in catches.

        20년간(1980-1999) 동해의 해구(위경도 30'×30')별 오징어(Todarodes pacificus) 총 어획량과 단위노력당 어획량(catch/gear/day, CPUE)을 분석하여, 특정 해역에서 오징어 어획량이 높은 원인을 물리(수온), 생물학적 환경 인자(동물플랑크톤 생체량)를 이용하여 분석하였다. 해구별 총 어획량과 CPUE는 1980년대보다 1990년대에 증가하였다. 20년간 평균어획량이 높았던 해구는 동해 남부 5개 해구(No. 87, 76, 82, 83, 88)이었고, CPUE가 높았던 해구는 울릉도와 울진 부근의 해구(No. 65, 71, 72, 78)로 나타났다. 동해 전체 해구에서 이들 특정 해구의 총 어획량과 CPUE가 차지하는 비율은 각각 35.1%와 62.1%였다. 총 어획량과 CPUE가 높은 해역은 쓰시마 난류의 북방한계 지표수온인 10℃의 등온선의 상부 수층에 위치하였으며, 10℃ 등온선의 분포 위치에 따라 해구별 총 어획량과 CPUE가 다르게 나타났다. 해구별 동물플랑크톤의 생체량 분포와 오징어 어획량 간에는 높은 상관성이 나타나지 않은 반면, 전체 해구의 동물플랑크톤의 연간 총 생체량과 오징어 총 어획량의 시계열 변화 경향은 유사하게 나타났다.

        To study the behavioral reaction of common squid Todarodes pacificus, to different colors of LED light, individual distribution in the dark condition without LED light stimuli, individual distribution when four colors of light stimuli were at the sections of end and middle of water tank and the changes of gathering rates as the elapse of illuminating time were examined. When it was dark, the distribution of the fish in each section of the tank was U-shape regardless of the investigating time intervals, which means that Todarodes pacificus gathered at the both ends of the tank. The individual distribution when light stimuli were at the one end of the tank showed the tendency of gathering at the illuminated section and decreasing at the opposite section. There were 448 of them at the end of the tank when the light was blue, 352 when white, 302 when green and 132 when red. Thus the fish liked blue light the most, followed by white light. The variations of gathering rate at the both ends of tank as illuminating time elapsed showed the tendency of increasing at the light section (A section), however, it showed the tendency of decreasing at the darkest section (F section). The individual distribution showed the tendency of letter Λ of gathering at the center and decreasing at the both ends mostly when the light stimuli were at the middle section of tank. The gathering rates at the lighting section were 80.4% when red, 76.4% when white, 69.6% when green and 56.7% when blue. The fishes showed the affinity for the red light mostly, followed by the white light source. The red light and blue light showed the opposite when the light stimuli were at the one end of water tank. The variations of gathering rates as the elapse of time at the lighted section showed the tendency of gradual increasing in the four light sources. The color of light source showing the highest gathering rate within 25-30 minutes of light stimuli was the white, followed by the red.

        Squid jigging fishery is very important in that there are about 1,000 jigging vessels more than 10 tonnage and about 5,000 ones less than 10 tonnage in Korea. But the cost of oil which is used to light fishing lamps, goes significantly up to almost one hundred million won for 50 tonnage vessels and forty million won in case of vessels less than 10 tonnage. This cost has almost taken 40% of total fishing costs. That is, the fishing business condition of squid jigging fishery is recently in the very difficult situation. As oil price increases, the business condition of the fishery gets worse and worse. Therefore it is very urgent to develop an economical fishing lamp, to solve this problem of fishery's business difficulty. This research aims at developing a fishing lamp for squid jigging fishery using the light emitting diode which has very excellent efficiency and durability. We made a water tank with 20 meters width which is a shape of raceway to research behavioral characteristics of Japanese flying squid to LED light, and made an experiment to investigate optimum wave of LED light to lure squid. The method is to establish LED lamps on both ends of water tank and to observe squid's behavior. Colors and wave lengths of LED lamps, used in experiment, are red(634nm), yellow(596nm), green(523nm), blue(454nm) and white(454nm+560nm). In experiment for attractive capability of LED lamp to squids, Japanese flying squid are highly attracted to blue lamp and white lamp. However, they are dispersed to red and yellow lamps. In addition, Japanese flying squid have moved and stayed in both dark ends of water tank. When compared intermittent lamp with continuous lamp, Japanese flying squid are highly attracted to intermittent lamp when intermittent interval is 0.25 second.

        This paper, examines the relationship between water temperatures and fishing conditions of common squid by the squid angling fishery from June to September in 1993-1995. The condition of the common squid fishing largely depended on the fluctuation of water temperature in the coastal area of Gampo. Monthly mean water temperatures during June m September in 1993 and 1994 were relatively higher than those in 1995 in Gampo area. But the values between July and August in 1995 were about 5℃ lower than those in 1993 and 1995. Coefficients of variation (CV) of water temperature showed the lowest value during July ~ September in 1993, however, the highest value was observed in July and August in 1994. Catch per unit effort (CPUE ; kg/angling) showed a peak with 73.7kg in 1993 when the CV was low. On the other hand, the lowest CPUE of 39.6kg was observed in 1994 when the CV was high. It was concluded that the high stability of water temperatures and the weak strength of cold water have caused the good fishing conditions of common squid.

        In order to establish one of the forecasting model for the fishing conditions of squid angling fisheries in the Eastern Korea Sea, the catch data for the years of 1955~1991 and the water temperature data for the years of 1979~1990 were analysed, and then some parameters, that is, the water temperature normal year anomaly in the spawning and the rapidly growing season, the adult resource amount and etc were examined statistically correlation with the catch fluctuation of the main fishing seasons. From the result, authors suggested a formula as a forecasting model, Y=25785+1099X sub(1)+1074X sub(2)+6.033X sub(3)+3.95X sub(4)+1.330X sub(5)(M/T)(R super(2)=0.867, P<0.01) in the case that Y is the yearly catch, X sub(1) and X sub(2) are the water temperature normal year anomalies in October and December of the previous year and that in February and April, and X sub(3), X sub(4) and X sub(5) are the catches in October, in September, in November of previous year respectively. Because these parameters could be checked in earlier time of a half year before the main fishing season, this model was assumed to be very useful for the prediction of fishing conditions of squid angling fisheries.

        Catch data for the common squid (Todarodes pacificus), classified by squid-jigging fisheries per grid (size: 0.5° latitude × 0.5° longitude), and the water temperature values KODC (Korea Ocean Data Center) were collected for the 1980–2009 period to study the changes in squid distribution and migration with climate regimes (1980s, 1990s, and 2000s). The primary fishing period in the 1990s and 2000s was approximately 2–3 months earlier than that in the 1980s. Especially in the East Sea, the fishing grounds in the 1980s stayed longer at high latitudes than those in the other decades. Moreover, in the 1980s, centers of the fishing ground were located near the Yamato bank (central East Sea), whereas in the 1990s and 2000s, they were situated near the southeastern coast of the Korean peninsula.

        식품의 방사선 조사는 식품 저장을 위한 성공적인 현대기술의 하나이지만 매우 신중하게 이루어져야 한다. 조사된 식품의 확인은 국제무역에서 소비자의 안전한 선택과 보호를 위해 가장 중요하다. 따라서 본 연구는 건조된 오징어와 문어에 전자선을 조사하여 선량별로 유도 생성되는 hydrocarbon류의 함량 및 분해패턴을 확인하였다. 비조사 시료와 선량별로 전자선 조사된 시료에서 지방을 추출한 뒤 solid phase extraction(SPE)방법을 이용하여 GC/MS로 확인하였다. 1, 3, 5, 7 및 10 kGy의 선량으로 전자선 조사된 건조 오징어와 문어에서 유도된 hydrocarbon류는 동일 선량에서 시료들의 지방산 조성에 따른 다른 생성률을 나타내었으며, 조사선량에 따라 증가하였다. 시료들에 다량 함유되어 있는 palmitic acid와 stearic acid로부터 생성된 1-tetradecene(C14:1), pentadecane(C15:0), 그리고 1-hexadecene(C16:1), heptadecane(C17:0)이 전자선 조사에 의해 유도된 주요 hydrocarbon류로 확인되었으며, 건오징어에서 hydrocarbon류 생성량이 건문어의 hydrocarbon류 생성량 보다 더 많음을 확인하였다. 이는 시료의 지방산 함유량에 따라 hydrocarbon류 생성량이 비례함을 알 수 있었다. 전자선 조사된 건오징어와 건문어에서 분석된 hydrocarbon류 중 1-tetradecene(C14:1), 1-hexadecene(C16:1) 그리고 heptadecane(C17:0)은 전자선 조사여부를 판별할 수 있는 지표로 활용될 수 있을 거라 사료된다.

        본 연구에서는 마른 오징어의 품질 향상을 위해서 일반적으로 많이 사용되고 있는 천일 건조와 온풍건조 방법을 이용하여 건조조건에 따른 마른 오징어의 건조특성 및 이화학적 품질 특성을 분석하였다. 건조방법에 따른 건조완료 마른오징어의 건조시간, 수분함량 및 수분활성도는 온풍건조의 경우 온도가 증가함에 따라 건조시간은 줄어들었고 천일건조의 경우에는 총 120시간만에 건조가 완료되었으며 수분활성도는 미생물의 생육과 증식이 불가능한 0.468~0.486을
