        Doping graphene to epoxy resins can improve the protective ability of the coating, but the lack of active anticorrosion function greatly limits its application in the field of anticorrosion. Herein, N/S-rich few-layer-graphene (N/S-FLG) was prepared and adopted to endow epoxy coating with dual passive/active corrosion protection. The obtained amphiphilic N/S-FLG is highly dispersed in the epoxy coating, giving rise to the enhanced hosting effect for graphene defects, avoiding the interface corrosion and blocking the penetration of corrosive species. Furthermore, the doping of N and S endows graphene sheets favourable catalytic ability for corrosive oxygen, actively eliminating its contribution to metal corrosion. Under this dual effect, the passive and active anticorrosion properties of epoxy coating are simultaneously enhanced. The coating with 1 wt% N/S-FLG reduces the corrosion rate of metal to 6.5 × 10– 5 mm/a, exhibiting almost no corrosion. The proposed concept of introducing nanocatalytic N/S-FLG is facile and eco-friendly, and will undoubtedly promote the practical application of anticorrosion coatings.

        Plant-derived compounds have been reported to possess anti-inflammatory abilities contained inhibited β-hexosaminidase, ROS and NO release. Essential oils are natural volatile complex compounds that are characterized by a strong scent and produced by aromatic plants as various plant-derived compounds. The essential oil extracted from Zanthoxylum coreanum Nakai (Z. coreanum) has various functional properties; however, little information is available regarding its anti-allergic inflammatory. A total of 17 compounds were detected in Z. coreanum oil, and the main component was estragole (50.86%). The tested Z. coreanum oil and estragole statistically inhibited the release of β-hexosaminidase induced by antigen stimulation in RBL-2H3 cells. This Z. coreanum oil and estragole may stimulate the secretion of active oxygen (ROS) or nitric oxide (NO) which are considered to involved in anti-inflammatory events. Moreover, it is suggested that Z. coreanum oil and estragole may negatively control the production of SNARE proteins (VAMP7) at the tran-scriptional and translational levels in common. These results demonstrate that Z. coreanum oil and its major component, estragole, possess potent anti-inflammatory abilities that are coupled with antioxidant properties.

        This paper presents a literature review on the active technologies to regulate the levels of carbon dioxide and oxygen in Kimchi packaging. In this study, laser-etched pouches and O2 scavengers were used for Kimchi packaging, and the efficiency of each packaging technique to regulate the CO2 and O2 levels inside Kimchi packages was investigated. When Kimchi was packaged with a laser-etched pouch, the CO2 concentration in the sample with a high gas transmission rate was less than that in other pouches (p<0.05), and a low CO2 level had little effect on the expansion of the package volume. Kimchi treated with an O2 absorber exhibited a significantly lower (p<0.05) O2 concentration inside the packages relative to the control. A low O2 concentration inside the Kimchi package effectively inhibited the growth of total aerobic bacteria and lactic acid bacteria, as well as yeasts and molds on Kimchi. These results suggest that O2 absorbers have a positive effect on the microbial quality of Kimchi. Therefore, packaging in a laser-etched pouch and the use of an O2 scavenger could provide a novel packaging material for regulating the CO2 and O2 levels during Kimchi packaging.

        본 연구에서는 LSCF/GDC (20 : 80 vol%) 복합 분리막 표면에 LSC/GDC (50 : 50 vol%) 활성층을 코팅한 후 활성층의 열처리 온도, 두께, 침투법을 이용한 STF 도입이 산소투과 특성에 미치는 영향을 고찰하였다. 활성층 도입은 복합 분리막의 산소 투과 유속을 급격히 증진시켰으며 이는 활성층 성분인 LSC/GDC (50 : 50 vol%)가 전자 전도성 및 표면 산소 분해 반응을 증진시켰기 때문이었다. 활성층의 열처리 온도가 900˚C에서 1000˚C로 증가한 경우, 산소 투과 유속은 증가하였고 이는 분리막과 활성층 사이 그리고 활성층의 결정입간 접촉이 증진하여 산소이온과 전자 흐름을 증진시켰기 때문으로 설명되었다. 코팅층의 두께가 약 10μm에서 약 20μm로 증가한 경우, 산소 투과 유속은 오히려 감소하였는데 이는 코팅층의 두께가 증가할수록 기공을 통한 공기 중의 산소 유입이 어려워지기 때문으로 설명되었다. 또한, 코팅층에 침투법을 이용하여 STF를 도입한 경우가 STF를 도입하지 않은 경우 보다 높은 산소 투과 유속을 보였는데 이는 도입된 STF가 산소 분해하는 표면 반응 속도를 촉진시키기 때문이다. 본 연구로부터 LSC/GDC (50 : 50 vol%) 활성층 코팅 및 특성 제어는 LSCF/GDC (20 : 80 vol%) 복합 분리막의 산소투과 증진에 매우 중요함을 확인하였다.

        This research was planned and executed to evaluate how the composition of Yack-sun (oriental diet therapy) tea can effect the health conditions of people who are suffering from diet-related diseases such as being overweight, obese and hyperlipidemic, by taking Yack-sun tea in a form of nutritional supplement with daily meals. We produced Kangjieum with Lycense Mill., Polygonum multflorum Thunb, Cassia tora L., Crataegus pinnatifida Bge and Salvia miltiorrhiza Bge. We evaluated the effects of this tea on serum lipids, on homocysteine concentration, and on active oxygen contents, oxidative stress by clinical practices. We have determined that this tea has a significant effect on decreasing body fat content, decreasing total cholesterol, decreasing LDL-cholesterol, and decreses triglyceride and homocysteine concentrations. In addition, blood active oxygen content and oxidative stress were significantly decreased. We think that scientific and objective evaluation was performed on the components of Kangjieum prescription. We concluded that we could apply the components, not only in a form of tea, but also in other forms of various foods. The information we received from this conclusion will be basic information on how we can apply oriental medicinal resources into other food and will be a steppingstone for medicinal herbs to place a foot in the field of functional food research, which already draws sizable attention world-wide.

        This study was carried out to investigate the effect of Pine needle extract on lipid oxidation and free radical reaction in iron sources reacted with active oxygen species. The results were summarized as follow; The pine needle extracts didn`t show a distinct effect on reduction of lipid oxidation if the iron ion didn`t exist in oil emulsion. The pine needle extracts played role as a strong chelating agents to bind iron ion if Ferrous iron(Fe\ulcorner) exist in oil emulsion. Ferric iron(Fe) was lower effect than Ferrous iron(Fe) on free radical reaction in oil emulsion. And also, the Fe\ulcorner reacted with pine needle extract did not show distinct effect on free radical reaction, compared to Fe\ulcorner reacted with pine needle extract. And also, Pine needle extracts reacted with H\ulcornerO\ulcorner were tended to show a low oxygen scavenging ability in case of H\ulcornerO\ulcorner only was existed, compared to those of H\ulcornerO\ulcorner + Fe\ulcorner complex. Pine needle extracts were the most powerful Fe\ulcorner binding agents, compared to other strong synthetic antioxidants such as EDTA and DTPA.
