        In this study, the authors introduce a newly developed flatfish grading system. Owing to the features of flatfish with and wide body, the general types of grading system are not easy to apply for it. Furthermore, the flatfish to be graded is alive such that the existing measurement and grading systems cannot be used for it as well. This study gives a solution for measuring and grading the flatfish with high speed and good accuracy. For this object, the authors developed flatfish measurement and grading system. This system consist of the feeding, conveying, measurement part and sorting part. Especially, the measurement part is made by vision based measuring technique which satisfies the given specification. The result from the experiment shows that the developed system is applicable for measuring and grading the flatfish sizes in variety.

        The purpose of this study is to analyze the differences by comparing consumption tendency of the Flatfish and Salmon using focus group interview (FGI). The FGI was conducted on university students in their 20s, with a total of 38 respondents surveyed in seven focus groups. Flatfish was recognized as a food in the form of popular sliced raw fish and had customer image that fit for middle-aged men in their 40s and 50s while eating with alcohol. 20s were perceived to be out of date with their age group as flatfish was considered old fish that did not match their age. In addition, they felt low accessibility to flatfish. Salmon was perceived by 20s as a food with a higher appeal than flatfish. Salmon has been creating a brand identity in their 20s and 30s for fashionable and trendy food that appealed to younger generations. They considered characteristics of salmon high in intangible value, such as something sophisticated, trendy, and beautiful. 20s consumed various forms of salmon including salmon sushi, salmon bowl, and salmon fillet, and they perceived it as a psychologically close food that can be easily accessible. In this study, the color of species (orange color of salmon), accessibility, restaurant image, and social media exposure were found to influence the consumption patterns of two species.

        본 연구는 넙치 치어 (평균 체장 13.3±1.6 cm, 평균 체중 25.6±3.7 g)를 수중 6가크롬에 10일간 0, 0.5,1.0, 2.0 mg L-1 의 농도로 노출시켜 독성영향 판단하기 위해 수행되었다. 넙치 hemoglobin과 hematocrit와 같은 혈액학적 성상은 수중 크롬노출에 의해 유의적으로 감소하였다. 혈장 무기성분인 calcium과 magnesium은 크롬노출에 의해 유의적인 변화는 나타나지 않았다. 혈장 무기성분인 glucose와 cholesterol과 같은 1.0 mg L-1 이상의 크롬노출에 의해 유의적으로 증가하였지만, total protein은 유의적인 변화는 나타나지 않았다. 혈장 효소성분인 AST, ALT, ALP는 크롬노출에 의해 유의적인 증가가 나타났다. 본 실험의 결과는 수중 크롬노출은 넙치의 혈액 및 혈장성분에 유의적인 변화를 유발하며, 이러한 지표 의 변화는 수중 크롬노출의 독성영향을 판단하는 주요한 지표가 될 것이다.

        Juvenile Paralichthys olivaceus (mean length 19.8±2.6 cm, mean weight 97.8±15.8 g) were exposed for 96 hours to different nitrate concentrations of 0, 62.5, 125, 250, 500, 1,000, and 1,500 mg L-1 in biofloc and 0, 62.5, 125, 250, 500, and 1,000 mg L-1 in seawater. Median lethal concentration values (LC50, the concentration at which 50% of mortality occurred after 96 hours of exposure) of nitrate to P. olivaceus in biofloc and seawater were 1,226 and 597 mg NO3 L-1 (P<0.05), respectively, revealing a higher toxicity of nitrate to P. olivaceus in seawater than in biofloc. In hematological parameters, hematocrit level in P. olivaceus exposed to nitrate was significantly increased only at a concentration of 1,000 mg L-1 in biofloc and at concentrations higher than 250 mg L-1 in seawater, but no significant changes in hemoglobin were found in biofloc and seawater. In plasma parameters, aspartate aminotransferase (AST) and alanine aminotransminase (ALT) were significantly increased by nitrate exposure in biofloc and seawater, but no significant changes in alkaline phosphatase (ALP) were found in biofloc and seawater. Results of this study indicate that nitrate exposure to P. olivaceus have a lethal toxic effect and alter hematological and plasma constituents of flatfish P. olivaceus. Given relatively lower toxicity of nitrate in biofloc than in seawater, the use of biofloc in aquaculture may reduce potential toxic effect caused by nitrate in feces and feed residue.

        This work studies the variability of flatfish sales revenue. The theoretical analysis draws functions for equilibrium price and quantity using expectation hypotheses. The functions include unpredictable phenomenon with dummy variable and GARCH. The equilibrium function, using adaptive expectation hypothesis, contains the independent variables of supply and demand, while the equilibrium function, embodying rational expectation hypothesis, includes only the independent variables of supply side, because the demand side disappears by the information extraction process theoretically, if economic subjects build the expectation rational. The empirical analysis shows: the variability of flatfish production has a spillover effect on the variability of revenue with the adaptive expectation hypothesis. In the case when the model has a rational expectation hypothesis, the variability of flatfish production has a spillover effect on the revenue (the mean equation of GARCH model). This study indicates that there is the variability in flatfish production and sales revenue, and the spillover effect between them. The result can help to build of the rational system for the fishery income stability.

        In this research we extracted water-soluble collagen peptide from flatfish skin and compared it with commercially available collagen peptide extracted from Tilapia scale currently placed on the market in the aspect of physiochemical property. The physical property and nutritional components of FSCP appeared almost similarly to those of TSCP, and also in calorie, FSCP marking 3.82 Kcal showed no differences from TSCP marking 3.84 Kcal. As for forming amino acids, in aspartic acid, serine, histidine, tyrosine, methionine, FSCP had higher content than TSCP, but in OH-proline, proline and alanine FSCP had lower content than TSCP. Especially the content of essential amino acids of FSCP marked 22.74% with a higher content compared with 13.64% of TSCP. In the distribution of molecular weight FSCP with 1,000 Da showed omparatively low compared with TSCP, and in emulsion property and stability FSCP and TSCP showed similar excellent trend.

        Nationally, flatfish vaccination has been performed manually, and is a laborious and time-consuming procedure with low accuracy. The handling requirement also makes it prone to contamination. With a view to eliminating these drawbacks, we designed an automatic vaccine system in which the injection is delivered by a Cartesian coordinate robot guided by a vision system. The automatic vaccine injection system is driven by an injection site location algorithm that uses a template-matching technique. The proposed algorithm was designed to derive the time and possible angles of injection by comparing a search area with a template. The algorithm is able to vaccinate various sizes of flatfish, even when they are loaded at different angles. We validated the performance of the proposed algorithm by analyzing the injection error under randomly generated loading angles. The proposed algorithm allowed an injection rate of 2000 per hour on average. Vaccination of flatfish with a body length of up to 500mm was possible, even when the orientation of the fish was random. The injection errors in various sizes of flatfish were very small, ranging from 0 to 0.6mm.

The case in this article will suggest some factors needed to consider in applying RFID/USN system to the agricultural business.

        본 논문에서는 식품 중 퀴놀론계(QNs) 합성항균제(marbofloxacin, norfloxacin, danofloxacin, ciprofloxacin, enrofloxacin, difloxacin, sarafloxacin, oxolinic acid 그리고 flumequine) 9종을 분석하기 위하여, 액-액 추출 과정을 거쳐서 형광검출기가 장착된 액체크로마토그래피를 이용하여 QNs를 효율적으로 동시분석하는 방법을 확립하였다. 컬럼은 Zorbax Eclipse XDB-C8(150 mm×4.6 mm, 5 μm), 이동상 용매는 200 mM ammonium acetate buffer (pH 4.5)와 ACN로 기울기 용리를 사용하였으며, 유속은 1.5 ml/min, 그리고, 주입량은 10 μl로 설정하여 분석하였다. 확립 된 분석조건으로, 표준검정 곡선은 10-500 μg/kg의 농도범위에서 상관계수가 0.9989 이상의 양호한 직선성을 나타내었으며, 회수율은 50, 100 그리고 500 μg/kg의 농도에서 89.6-106.5 %로, 향상된 추출효율을 나타내었다. 검출한계는 1-16 μg/kg이었고, 정량한계는 3-47 μg/kg이었으며, 일내(intra-day)와 일간(inter-day) 정밀도(CV%)는 0.2-15.0 %, 0.5-11.7 %이었다. 따라서, 확립된 분석방법은 광어 및 계란 중의 QNs을 효과적으로 분석하는데 이용될 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.

        In manufacturing of flatfish skin collagen peptide (FSCP) and flatfish protein hydrolysate (FPH) by reuse of dead flatfish from fish farm in Jeju island, the industrial process was optimized with the laboratory scale research and the on-field process. Segmented unit processes from raw material incoming to shipment were established to produce commercial product of FSCP and FPH. Total plate counts of FSCP were twenty five times of FPH, but food poisoning bacteria were not detected in two samples. FSCP and FPH were safe from heavy metal such as Pb(II), Cd(II) and Hg(II). The residual contents of antibiotics and disinfection matter in FSCP and FPH were not detected. The optimized process for mass production made the one-third of the running time and two times of the yield. From economic analysis, the production cost was estimated to 22,000 and 12,000 won/kg for FSCP and FPH, respectively. Therefore the product from the reuse of dead flatfish was expected to have a considerable competitive price and high added-value functional food material compared with other commercially available fish products.
