Genetically modified food gave rise to several controversies since it came into being. The clash of international GMF legislation is rooted in the divergence of the EU and the US legislation, which leads to the divergence of the WTO and Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety and indirectly influences the legislative choice of developing countries. Like other developing countries, China also faces lots of challenges including lag in genetically modified organism technology, disadvantage caused by invisible private standard, technical control of GMO companies in developed countries and low level of involvement of the public. In recent years, China adopts its own policy on GMO by developing GM technology cautiously. The legislative situation in China fall far behind domestic research and commercial production necessity. China has revised several existing legislations. Although there is far from perfect, it makes great progress. In the future, China is expected to be more active, positive and open towards GMO.
Control charts are generally used for process control, but the role of traditional control charts have been limited in case of a non-contaminated process. Traditional x-s control chart has not been activated well for such a problem because of trying to control processes as center line and control limits changed by the contaminated value. This paper suggests modified x-s control chart based on robust estimation. In this paper, we consider the trimmed mean of the sample means and the trimmed mean of the sample standard deviations. By comparing with ARL value, the responding results are decided. The comparison resultant results of traditional control chart and modified control chart are contrasted.
Importance-Performance Analysis(IPA) is a well-known methodology to find the area for improvement. However, the IPA uses different strategies depending on an attribute falls in either 'Concentrate', 'Keep up', 'Possible overkill', or Low priority' quadrant. Problems can occur when attributes locate near the demarcation lines. To solve this problem of IPA, I suggest a modified importance-satisfaction analysis which integrates the Slack(1994)'s diagonal approach and Kano's ASC(Jang et al., 2012) into Yang(2003)'s Importance-Satisfaction model. For this, I investigated 21 smartphone's quality attributes, which adopted from Song and Park(2012)'s study, and conducted a survey of 280 university students for the results of Kano' model and the importance and satisfaction of the quality attributes. The results show that the proposed model enables the business managers to prioritize the quality attributes for improvement through the interpretation on the continuous diagonal line using the Kano's questionnaire only, without acquiring any additional survey for importance of attributes. Accordingly, it is expected that the newly proposed method will diminish the limitation of the existing IPA. In addition, to test the validity of the ASC, this study conducts a comparative analysis between the Kano's ASC and Tontini(2007)'s method to determine the relative importance of quality attributes.
This study was designed to examine a 3-week modified constraint-induced movement therapy (CIMT) to the less-affected arm of patients with Parkinson's disease (PD) would improve function of the more-affected arm in PD. The subjects were 6 institutional older adults with PD and clients of the social welfare facilities. The subjects (2 men, 4 women) ranged in age from 66 to 90 years (mean age 77.2 yrs). Three clinical tests were used to determine the improvement of functional activity between before and after modified CIMT. The tests included Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale (UPDRS). Wolf Motor Function Test (WMFT), and Action Research Arm Test (ARAT). There were significantly differences after the modified CIMT for time performance in WMFT and pinch in ARAT (p<.05), No significant difference was noted after the modified CIMT for UPDRS and functional ability scale in WMFT. Therefore, the modified CIMT might improve time performance and is available to therapeutic program helping them improve functional ability for upper extremity in Parkinson's disease.
A survey on consumer’s awareness and perception toward genetically-modified (GM) foods was conducted on 2110 random samples of Korean consumers. More than 65% of the respondents were exposed to some information related to GM foods. The respondents answered that the greatest benefit of the development of GM foods is remedy of potential food shortages in the future. More than 90% of Korean consumers wanted GM foods to be labeled as such. More than 50% of the respondents would not buy until they know more about GM foods. Only 35.8% of Korean consumers were found to know that food items originating from plants contained genes. More consumers responded that they would not buy herbicide-resistant GM soybean but buy vitamin-enriched GM soybean. Many Korean consumers' decision of acceptance or rejection of GM foods depend not on the basis of biotechnology, but on the basis of the degree of benefit to the consumers. Only 6.4% of Korean consumers responded that GM foods were the greatest threat to the safety of Korean foods. The perception of Korean consumers on GM foods has not changed significantly during the past 5 years.
본 연구는 온도에 따라 특성이 변하는 아스팔트 콘크리트의 파괴인성을 규명하기 위하여 기존의 유효균열 모델을 수정하는 연구를 다루고 있다. 본래의 ECM모델은 콘크리트와 같은 고체에 적용되도록 개발되어 재료의 포아슨 비를 고려하지 않는다. 하지만 아스팔트 콘크리트는 온도변화에 민감하여 온도에 따라 포아슨 비가 변화하므로 다양한 온도하에서 정확한 파괴 특성을 알기 위해서는 포아슨 비가 고려되어져야 한다. 3개의 개질아스팔트 결합재를 포함한 4가지 결합재를 사용하여 밀입도 아스팔트 혼합물을 제조하여 초기균열 보에 대한 3점 휨 시험을 $-5^{\circ}C$부터 $-35^{\circ}C$까지에서 수행하였다. 탄성계수, 휨강도 및 파괴인성을 시험을 통하여 구하였다. 시험결과 포아슨비가 고려되는 수정 ECM 공식을 사용하므로서 보다 정확한 값들을 얻을 수 있었다. 폴리머 개질 아스팔트 혼합물이 일반아스팔트 혼합물에 비하여 더 낮은 저온하에서 더 높은 강성과 파괴인성을 유지함을 알 수 있었다.
