The family Gracillariidae are known as ‘leaf-miners’ comprising 1,966 described species of 106 genera in the world. In Korea, there are 3 subfamily, 14 genera of 58 described species to date. In this study, some new and newly recorded species of the family Gracillariidae were recorded for the first time in Korea. Also, all the available information including synonym list, images for adult and genitalia and distributional rages were provided.
The genus Docirava Walker, [1863] belongs to the tribe Chesiadini of the family Geometridae with only 12 described species in the world. The genus could be distinguished from other genera of Chesiadini with the characters, which had been described by walker in original description as follow : “Proboscis slender, rather long….Legs long, very slender; hind tibiae with four rather short and slender spurs”. In this study, the genus Docirava was first recorded with a new species Docirava sp. nov. with DNA barcode. Also, all the available information including images for both of genitalia and adult, wing venation and descriptional study was provided.
The genus Cephimallota Bruand, 1851 is reported for the first time in Korea, with one species Cephimallota chasanica Zagulajev, 1965. Adult and genitalia of male are described, with illustrations.
In this study, Monopis zagulajevi Gaedike, 2000 is reported for the first time from Korea. Illustrations of adults and genitalia are presented, with species descriptions. Also, Korean checklist of genus Monopis is provided.
The genus Culladia Moore [1886] (Lepidoptera, Crambinae) are found for the first time in the Korea with a species C. dentilinealis Hampson, 1919. The description, image of the adult, male, and female genitalia are provided in this paper.
As a result of the curation of NIBR Insect Collection (NIBR, 2016), we found a new species and 4 newly recordedspecies, Tropideres distinguendus sp. nov., Acorynus latirostris (Sharp), Illis anna Shibata, Phaulimia confinis Sharp, Choraguscissoides Sharp. The genera, Acorynus Schoenherr and Illis Jordan are also newly recorded to Korean fauna. The newspecies, Tropideres distinguendus is easily distinguished from other species by the tubercles and dorsal pubescence pattern.Phaulimia confinis is similar to P. rufobasis, but easily distinguished from the latter by blackish elytral color and tibialpubescence band. Choragus cissoides is similar to C. cryphaloides, but easily distinguished from the latter by the absenceof lateral carina of pronotum.
The subfamily Pimplinae comprising more than 1,700 described species within 77 genera worldwide. Sixty-nine specieswithin 20 genera have been recorded from South Korea. Among them, the genus Endromopoda is a small sized groupin the subfamily Pimplinae with 11 described species from Nearctic, Oriental and Palaearctic regions. This genus is newlyrecorded from South Korea for the first time. Genus Endromopoda can easily be distinguished from other genera of Pimplinaeby the following characters: Distinctly depressed ovipositor, with perpendicular teeth on apex; elongated propodeum. In this study, we report three unrecorded South Korean species, Endromopoda arundinator (Fabricius,1804), Endromopoda detrita (Holmgren, 1860) and Endromopoda phragmitidis (Perkins, 1957). In addition, diagnoses, photographs of newly recorded species and a key to the species of South Korean Endromopodaare provided.
South Korean species of the genus Eusterinx Förster are reviewed here. Nine species of the genus Eusterinx are found to occur in South Korea, and five species, Eusterinx (Eusterinx) sp. nov. 1, E. (Holomeristus) sp. nov. 2, E. (Ischyracis) sp. nov. 3, E. (Ischyracis) sp. nov. 4, and E. (Ischyracis) sp. nov. 5, are described as new. A key to all known species of the genus Eusterinx occurring in South Korea is provided.
Most known species in the Strophariaceae are decomposers and grow on various kind of organic matter. Approximately 18 genera and 1,316 species in the Strophariaceae have been reported worldwide. Through an ongoing survey of indigenous fungi in Korea, 29 specimens belonging to the Strophariaceae were collected from 2012 to 2016. These specimens were identified based on morphological characteristics and molecular analysis of internal transcribed spacer sequences. Fifteen taxa were confirmed, with eight species matching those previously recorded. Seven species in five genera were shown to be new records in Korea: Galerina marginata, Gymnopilus crociphyllus, Gymnopilus picreus, Hebeloma birrus, Hebeloma cavipes, Pholiota multicingulata, and Psilocybe thaizapoteca. In this study, we provide detailed morphological descriptions of these species and investigate their evolutionary relationships by constructing phylogenetic trees.
A new species of the genus Robertus Pickard-Cambridge, Robertus subtilis n. sp. is described from Mt. Odae in Gangwon Province, Korea. Theridion serpatusum Guan and Zhu, 1993 and Lathys annulata Bösenberg and Strand, 1906 are reported for the first time in Korea. Habitus photos and illustrations of these three species are provided.
Up to now, 39 species of the family Anthribidae have been recorded from Korea. As a result of this study, we add two genus and four species of the family Anthribidae to the Korean fauna with brief descriptions and illustrations of diagnostic characters. The newly recorded genus Citacalus in the subfamily Choraginae, is very similar to the genus Choragus. Citacalus pygidialis Johraku has an unique character, pygidium strongly convex longitudinally sharply carinate on the apical half in male; in female, pygidium triangularly projecting laterally near the apex. The newly recorded species Euparius modicus yaeyamanus Morimoto in the genus Euparius of the subfamily Anthribinae, can be distinguished from the other two recorded species by the elytra with almost unicolor pubescence color except a pair of black spots behind middle. The newly recorded genus Unciferina is close to Uncifer Jordan, but easily distinguished from the latter by sharply angulate rostrum to head, transversely carinate base of rostrum on the underside, and the acute hind angles of pronotum. The two new species in the genus Unciferina are easily distinguished from the congeneric species with pubescence patches on pronotum and elytra, shape of eye, the ratio of the antennal segments and the shape of the hind angles of pronotum.
Three species: Anorthoa angustipennis (Matsumura), Harutaeographa stenoptera (Staudinger), and Cerastis pallescens (Butler), are recorded for the first time from China, and Nikara castanea (Moore) is newly added to the fauna of Northeast China. The image of adult, genitalic characteristics, and the distributions are given as necessary.
