This research focuses on teaching Arabic to Jewish students in Jerusalem, a city of significant cultural and religious importance for both Arabs and Jews, especially under the backdrop of the prolonged conflict between these communities. The study asserts that the political complexity inherent in this context gives rise to unique challenges in teaching Arabic in Jewish schools in Jerusalem, which is influenced by conflict and racism. These factors contribute to the formation of a psychological barrier within the Arabic educational process. The objective of the study is to provide a comprehensive overview of the status of Arabic teaching to Jews in Jerusalem, emphasizing the unique aspects of this case and addressing the challenges encountered in the process. The outcomes of this research showed that the demographic composition of Jerusalem, with concentrations of both Arabs and extremist Jews, contributes to the distinctive nature of this case compared to other Israeli-occupied cities. This demographic factor influences the goals of teaching Arabic to Jews in Jerusalem and, concurrently, intensifies the challenges faced in this educational process, setting it apart from similar endeavors in different locations.

The purpose of this study was to predict educational transformation in the post pandemic era and address a new agenda for participants in both education and academia of Korean EFL. First of all, this article calls attention to rapid societal changes due to technology for the last few decades, particularly in facets of language use, knowledge building, and learning paradigm. Second, this study attempted to articulate unprecedented challenges of English education in Korea for adapting to educational reform in the digital society: 1) defining digital literacy from the second language (L2) perspective, 2) relocating English curriculum within digital learning ecology, and 3) achieving normalization of Korean school English curriculum. For successful transition, this paper finally suggests that a united voice is needed from participants and that new governance should be established in English education to connect educators, researchers, and policy makers to each other empowered by major academic associations such as KATE.

This study focused on challenges faced by early childhood English teachers in Korea against the backdrop of the local rise of English education for young learners. A mixed-method was used to collect data, including open-ended survey questionnaires and interviews. Six teachers from 250 early childhood English teachers were selected for this study based on the length of teaching experience. A number of challenges emerged from the analysis of the survey, including classroom management, mixed-level class, motivation, teaching methodology, parents involvement, restrained English education in the context of Korea, the teacher’s level of English, lack of assessment and materials which fit early childhood language learners, and balancing between interest and learning. Nine distinct themes were found based on calculated frequency. They were cross-tabulated by two groups of teachers depending on whether teachers had less or more than three years of teaching experience. Results showed challenges and difficulties faced by teachers with lengthy teaching experience. Findings of this study suggest a way to build teacher education programs to support the challenges identified by teachers.
