The Fungal Contamination in Glasses for Vision Correction

목 적: 시력교정용 안경의 진균 오염실태를 조사하고자 하였다. 방 법: 총 145명(초등학생 36명, 중학생 37명, 고등학생 30명, 대학생 10명, 노인 32명)의 안경으로부터 진균을 채취하여 분리 배양한 후 동정하였다. 결 과: 시력교정용 안경으로부터 검출된 진균은 총 5종으로 Penicillium sp., Cladosporium sp., Aspergillus sp., Mucor sp., Cryptococcus neoformans이었다. 안과질환과 관련한 진균류는 Aspergillus sp., Cladosporium sp., Penicillium sp.로 3종이었으며 그 외 질병의 원인균은 Mucor sp., C. neoformans로 2종이었다. 결 론: 시력교정용 안경에서 고위험군 감염성 진균류들이 존재하는 것을 확인하였으며 이를 통한 질병의 유발이 예측되므로 안경의 위생관리를 위한 대안이 필요하다고 사료된다.
Purpose: We investigated on both the actual condition of fungal contamination from glasses of vision correction. Methods: Investigation of fungi was carried out with a group of 145 glasses wearers, composed of 36 elementary school students, 37 middle school students, 38 high school students, 10 college students, and 32 aged men. Results: 5 species of fungi are detected from glasses of vision correction: Penicillium sp., Cladosporium sp., Aspergillus sp., Mucor sp., Cryptococcus neoformans. Among 3 species of fungi, there are some potential causative agents for ophthalmic diseases. Causative agent of other disease was the two kinds as Mucor sp., and C. neoformans. Conclusions: It was verified that hazardous, opportunistic and infectious fungi exist in glasses for vision correction. Ophthalmic diseases are predicted. Therefore, supplementary research on the development of a cleaning solution and equipments to cleanse the infection and of an effective method to remove microorganisms is required.
