이 연구의 목적은 한국의 사회적 경제 조직의 특성을 찾아보는 데에 있다. 그중에서도 사회적기업, 마을기 업, 협동조합을 중심으로 살펴본다. 우선, 미국과 유럽의 사회적 경제에 대한 개념을 비교하여 특성을 도출 하고, 이를 비교의 대상으로 삼는다. 서양의 사회적 경제와는 다르게, 한국의 사회적 경제는 정부에 의해서 정책적으로 도입 및 추진되었다. 구체적으로 사회적기업은 고용노동부에 의해, 마을기업은 행정안전부에 의해, 협동조합은 기획재정부에 의해 관리되고 있다. 그렇기 때문에 한국의 사회적 경제 조직은 정부의 영 향으로부터 자유로울 수 없다. 물론, 사회적 경제의 토양이 부족한 한국에서 빠른 시간 안에 사회적 경제가 가져올 성과를 낼 수 있다는 장점이 있다. 하지만 이렇게 성장한 사회적 경제가 진정한 의미의 사회적 경제 에 해당하는지에 대해서 진지한 성찰과 고민이 필요하다

The purpose of this study is to investigate the characteristics of social economy organizations in South Korea. In doing so, we focus especially on social enterprises, community enterprises, and cooperatives. First, we compare the concepts of the American and European social economies, characterize them and compare them. Unlike the social economy in the West, the social economy in Korea was introduced and promoted politically by the government: Specifically, social enterprises are managed by the Ministry of Employment and Labor, community enterprises by the Ministry of Security and Public Administration, and cooperatives by the Ministry of Economy and Finance. Therefore, the social economy organizations in Korea cannot be free from the influence of the government. Of course, there is an advantage—in a country like Korea, where the soil needed for the social economy is lacking, such government-driven social economy can bring about quick results. However, serious reflection and considerations are needed as to whether the social economy developed this way can truly be said of as true social economy.
