This study investigated changes in psychological stress levels of 60 firefighters after participation in an eight-week Equine-Assisted Learning (EAL) program consisting of 16 sessions. The Korean versions of the Posttraumatic Diagnosis Scale (PDS-K), the Center for Epidemiological Studies Depression Scale (K-CESD), and the Difficulties in Emotional Regulation Scale (K-DERS) were used for measurements. Participants were divided into two groups according to level of posttraumatic stress symptoms (PTSS): the PTSS risk group and the PTSS non-risk group. Results showed that PDS-K, K-CESD, and K-DERS scores were significantly reduced after the program in the PTSS risk group. Significant reduction was also found in all sub-scales of PDS-K: re-experiencing, avoidance/emotional numbing, and hyperarousal. Moreover, in the PTSS risk group, there were greater improvements with significant group x time interactions. These findings suggest that EAL is effective in relieving PTSD and PTSD-related symptoms of firefighters with subsyndromal or more severe levels of PTSD.

심장사상충은 개의 폐동맥과 우심실에 기생하면서 혈액순환 장애와 심기능부전을 일으 키는인수공통기생충으로 최근 반려동물과 함께하는 인구수가 증가함에 따라 심장사상충 감염에 대한 인식도 증가하고 있다. 그래서 이 연구는 도시 지역인 광주지역에서 사육되 는 7개 품종 97마리에 대한 심장사상충의 감염률을 항원검사법을 이용하여 조사하였다. 전체 감염률은 총 97마리 중 2마리가 감염되어 2.1%이었다. 사육환경에 따른 감염률은 단독주택 사육환경이 7.1%(1/14마리), 아파트 사육환경이 1.2%(1/83마리)로 단독주택 사육환경에서 높았으며, 성별에 따른 감염률은 수컷이 3.6%(2/55마리), 암컷이 0.0%(0/42마리)로 수컷에서 높았다. 또한 연령에 따른 감염률은 5세 이상에서 4.9%(2/41마리)이었고 4세 이하에서 감염견은 검출되지 않았다. 이 연구를 통해 심장사 상충 감염률은 단독주택 사육환경, 수컷 그리고 노령견에서 높다는 것을 확인하였다.

As of August 2021, the national qualification system for veterinary nurses started being implemented in Korea. The first national qualification test produced certified veterinary nurses in February 2022. Veterinary nurses assist veterinarians in treating and caring for companion animals. This study investigated improvement suggestions for the current qualification system by pinpointing what was missing in this institution and analyzing exemplary cases in other countries regarding naming for veterinary nurses, national qualification systems and expertise levels, job responsibilities, and the work coverage in veterinary nurses. Under a constantly improving national qualification system, veterinary nurses can be leading professionals for pet animals’ health and well-being and contribute to better veterinary service as long as veterinarians collaborate with veterinary nurses who take on more responsibility in collaborative efforts.

본 연구의 목적은 동물매개상담이 아동의 자아존중감과 정서행동에 미치는 효과성을 규명하는데 목적이 있다. 연구대상은 경기도 B시 내 소재의 정신건강복지센터를 통해 정 서행동장애로 발전할 가능성이 높은 아동 중에 초등학교 4학년 남학생 4명을 최종선정하 여 단일집단 연구로 진행하였다. 연구진행은 2019년 9월부터 10월까지 주1회 총10회기 를 매 회당 60분씩 진행하였다. 연구결과 첫쩨, 동물매개상담에 참여한 아동은 긍정적인 자아존중감이 향상되었고 부정적인 자아존중감은 감소하여 유의미한 효과가 검증되었다. 둘째, 동물매개상담에 참여한 아동은 강점인 사회지향성이 향상되었고, 난점인 과잉행동, 정서증상, 품행문제, 또래문제의 점수가 감소하여 아동의 정서행동에 긍정적인 변화가 있 었음이 검증되었다. 이러한 효과는 치료도우미견을 매개로 하는 가장 큰 특징으로 생명이 있고, 따뜻한 체온이 있어서 상호교감할 수 있다는 것이다. 결과적으로 동물매개상담이 아동의 자아존중감향상과 정서행동변화에 유의미한 효과가 있는 것으로 평가되었다.

본 연구는 반려견 양육활동에 따른 외로움감소 및 삶의 만족도에 미치는 영향을 알아 보기 위하여 수도권에 있는 20대에서 60대에 이르기 까지 반려동물 양육활동을 하고 있 는 290명을 대상으로 설문을 실시하였고, 인구사회학적 특성에 따라 반려인의 외로움 감 소 및 삶의 행복감과 반려견에 대한 애착 및 만족도에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위하여 회귀분석을 실시한 결과는 다음과 같다. 성별, 연령, 학력, 결혼유무, 종교인수 및, 동거인 수에 따라 외로움 감소는 유의미한 차이를 보이지 않았다. 하지만 행복감과 만족도는 성별과 결혼 유무에 따라 유의미한 차 이를 나타냈고, 연령, 학력, 종교유무 및 동거인 수에는 차이가 나타나지 않았다. 또한 반 려견에 대한 애착과 양육활동의 긍정적인 마인드는 성별에만 유의미한 차이를 보였다. 하 지만 연령, 학력, 결혼여부, 종교유무 및 동거인 수에는 유의미한 차이를 보이지 않았다. 반려견을 양육하는 반려인들에게 미치는 긍정적인 측면은 다양한 반려인들이 공유할 수 있도록 하고, 반려견 양육시 고려해야 할 사례는 예비 반려인을 위해 정보가 제공되어 반 려견 양육활동에 도움이 되길 기대해 본다.

The purpose of this review was to investigate the effects of animal-assisted therapy on schizophrenia and to hope that animal-assisted therapy would be a useful psychosocial intervention treatment for schizophrenia patients. Antipsychotics are effective in relieving positive symptoms. The effect will be maximized when the psychosocial intervention therapy, animal-mediated therapy, and drug effects are integrated.
