        The rule of law principle has been established in modern society as a core value in domestic political governance. It evolves from social contract theory and is meant to rein in the almighty and powers from its beginning and later applies to all. In general, international law has become an essential pillar of the present international order. The recent rise of unilateral actions has posed threat to the international rule of law tradition. Equality in international relations, Pacta Sunt Servanda, and good faith implementation of treaty obligations are the essentials of the international rule of law, which provides predictability and stability to the stake holders in the international community. It also represents the fundamental common values of thousands of years of human civilization. Upholding the principle of international rule of law goes to the fundamentals and natures of human beings. Thus, maintaining international rule of law is a guarantee for a better world for all.

        Changes of gonadal morphology and mRNA expression patterns of vitellogenin were investigated in Siberian sturgeon Acipenser baerii (Chondrostei) during its early gonadal maturation period. Early differentiations and morphological transitions of both ovaries and testes appeared to occur actively until the age of 3 years, however from then on, the maturation patterns to full maturity were largely gender-dependent, in which males showed a faster progression of maturation than did females while females experienced a steady-state progress with a lagged interval before entering the final maturation. Expression of vitellogenin mRNAs are closely correlated with transitional patterns of gonadal appearances. In both females and males, hepatic mRNA levels of vitellogenin exponentially increased in the earliest interval (up to 1-year-old). However, in subsequent periods, vitellogenin expression in females continued to increase with age, whereas in males, the expression stabilized at a younger age. Nevertheless, at the age older than or equal to 7-year-old, fully matured individuals showed a quite low level of vitellogenin expression in both females and males. Collectively, results from this study could be useful as a fundamental guideline to address the gonad maturation of this sturgeon species, which is helpful for making practical decisions about farming practices and management for caviar production on local sturgeon farms.

        표고(Lentinula edodes), 노루궁뎅이(Hericium erinaceus), 느타리(Pleurotus ostreatus)의 버섯수확후배지(spent mushroom substrate, SMS)를 퇴비화에 활용하였다. 퇴비화 온도변화는 50oC 이상에서 7일에서 10일 동안 지속 되어 30일에 부숙이 완료되었다. 퇴비화 된 LeCSMS, HeCSMS는 130%, 80% 무종자에 대한 종자 발아지수를 보여 부숙도에 대한 종자 발아지수를 충족하였다. 퇴비화에 따른 물리 화학적 변화를 조사한 바 pH 범위가 4-5 에서 6-7로 증가 되었고 EC는 1-1.4 dS/m로 소폭 감소 되었으며 유기질 함량은 LeCSMS에서 36.9%로 SMS에 비하여 60% 이상 가장 큰 폭으로 감소 되었다. LeCSMS 를 기준으로 N (1.2%), P(2.3%), K(0.77%)함량이 조사되었으며 중금속은 모든 CSMS에서 기준치 이하였으며 Ca, Mg는 30%에서 60%이상 증가하였다. C/N비는 LeCSMS, HeCSMS에서 15% 낮았으나 PoCSMS에서 32%로 높게 나타났다. LeCSMS 처리에 따른 고추 유묘 생육효과는 시판 유기퇴비 처리구 등 대조 구에 비하여 초장이 60% 이상 높게 성장했으며 옆폭, 옆장, 옆수에서 다른 대조 구 에 비하여 모두 우수한 생육 효과를 보였다.

        The present study investigated effects of antifungal and carboxylesterase inoculant on rumen fermentation with different rumen pH. Corn silage was treated without inoculant (CON) and with a mixed Lactobacillus brevis 5M2 and L. buchneri 6M1 (MIX). Rumen fluid was collected from two cannulated Hanwoo heifers before morning feeding (high rumen pH at 6.70) and 3 h after feeding (low rumen pH at 6.20). Dried corn silage was incubated in the rumen buffer (rumen fluid + anaerobic culture medium at 1:2 ratio) for 48 h at 39oC. Eight replications for each treatment were used along with two blanks. Both in a high and a low rumen pH, MIX silages presented higher (p<0.05) the immediately degradable fraction, the potentially degradable fraction, total degradable fraction, and total volatile fatty acid (VFA) than those of CON silages. Incubated corn silages in a low rumen pH presented lower (p<0.05) total degradable fraction, ammonia-N, total VFA (p=0.061), and other VFA profiles except acetate and propionate, than those in a high rumen pH. The present study concluded that application of antifungal and carboxylesterase inoculant on corn silage could improve degradation kinetics and fermentation indices in the rumen with high and low pH conditions.
