        본(本) 연구(硏究)는 대구시(大邱市)의 주요 하천(河川)인 이천(梨川), 범어천(汎魚川), 칠성천(七星川), 신천(新川), 달서천(達西川) 및 공단천(工團川)의 오염상태(汚染狀態)를 조사(調査)하여 도시하수(都市下水)의 효과적(效果的)인 처리(處理)와 금호강(琴湖江)의 오염방지책(汚染防止策) 수립에 필요한 기초자료(基礎資料)를 제공(提供)코자 하였다. 시기별(時期別) 각(各) 하천(河川)의 pH, DO, COD, 질산염 및 인산염을 분석(分析)한 결과(結果)는 다음과 같았다. 1) 각(各) 지점별(地點別) 평균치(平均値)는 pH 7.3~8.2, DO 흔적~6.5ppm, COD 20.4~116.9ppm, T-N 23.2~31.7ppm, -N 18.3~27.7ppm, -N 0.08~1.89ppm, -N 0.19~1.51ppm, -P 2.50~17.28ppm이었다. 2) 지점별(地點別) 오염도(汚染度)가 가장 높은 곳은 공단천(工團川)이었으며 12개월(個月)동안의 평균치(平均値)는 pH 8.2, DO 흔적, COD 116.9ppm, T-N 23.2ppm, -N 18.3ppm, -N 1.89ppm, -N 1.51ppm, -P 17.28ppm이었다. 3) 시기별(時期別)로 비교(比較)하면 pH, DO, COD, T-N, -N의 함량(含量)과 pH는 겨울철이 여름철보다 높았으며 -N and -P의 함량(含量)은 여름철이 다소 높았다.

        경수(硬水)나 오수(汚水)로부터 청정(淸淨)하고 안전(安全)한 음용수(飮用水)를 얻기 위한 기초자료(基礎資料)를 제공할 목적으로 한국산 점토광물(粘土鑛物)(Kaolinite, Montmorillonite)의 이화학적(理化學的) 특성(特性)과 이들에 의한 각종 양이온들의 경쟁흡착(競爭吸着)을 조사(調査)하였다. 양이온들간의 흡착력(吸着力)의 세기는 Kaolinite나 Montmorillonite의 두 점토광물(粘土鑛物) 공(共)히 > > > 의 순(順)이었으며 Kerr의 공식에 의한 Montmorillonite에서의 양(陽)이온 선택성계수(選擇性系數)(K)는 > , > 의 순(順)이었다. 한편 으로 포화(飽和)된 Montmorillonite의 경우 양(陽)이온의 흡착량(吸着量)이 가장 많았다. 따라서 경수(硬水)나 오수(汚水) 중의 각종 양(陽)이온들을 보다 효과적으로 제거(除去)하기 위해서는 Montmorillonite에 을 포화(飽和)시켜 사용하는 것이 바람직하다고 하겠다.

        This study was performed to provide the basic information on characteristics of groundwater pollution in Gyeongsan city. Forty two groundwater samples were collected, and pH, DO, COD, NH3-N, NO3--N, T-N, PO43--P, Cl, Ca, Mg, hardness, evaporate residues and others were investigated. And, ANOVA analyses were carried out to reveal the differences in water pollution indicator values of by industry, commerce/residence and agriculture areas. The results were as follows. 1. The mean values of pH, DO, COD, NH3-N, NO3--N, T-N, PO43--P, Cl, evaporate residues, Ca and hardness were 6.9, 7.9 ㎎/ℓ, 0.4 ㎎/ℓ, 2.44 ㎎/ℓ, 2.73 ㎎/ℓ, 6.06 ㎎/ℓ, 0.82 ㎎/ℓ, 32.72 ㎎/ℓ, 381.67 ㎎/ℓ, 41.53 ㎎/ℓ, 177.17 ㎎/ℓ, respectively. 2. As groundwater became deeper, the values of Cl, Ca, Mg, Na, hardness and evaporate residues remarkably increased, but those of COD, NH3-N, NO3--N, NO2--N, T-N decreased. 3. The values of COD, Cl, Ca, Mg, Na, hardness and evaporate residues were very high in industrial area, and those of NH3-N, NO2--N, T-N were very high in commercial/residential area, and those of NO3--N were a little high in agricultural area. 4. The correlations between depth and each value of Mg, Na, Fe, hardness and evaporate residues were highly positive, and those between DO and each value of Mg, Cu, Fe, hardness and evaporate residues were highly negative. 5. According to ANOVA analyses, the differences in three area groups (industry, commerce/residence and agriculture) on the values of NH3-N, T-N, evaporate residues, hardness, Ca, Mg, K and Fe were significant at 1% level.

        This study was conducted to provide the basic information to know reasonable method for the removal and treatment of municipal solid wastes(MSWs). MSWs four different sources(apartment, residence, commerce, office/industry) in Daegu city were collected, and bulk density, physical composition, moisture, combustible, ash, elements and heating values were investigated. The values of bulk density were at range of 0.30~0.41ton/m3. The percentages of foods, papers, vinyls/plastics, textiles, rubbers/leathers, metals and glasses/ceramics of wet muncipal solid wastes from three sources except office/industry were at range of 27.3~46.4%, 21.2~38.4%, 10.3~11.9%, 3.8~5.2%, 0.5~1.7%, 6.9~8.7% and 1.9~2.6% respectively. The percentages of papers, foods, vinyls/plastics, textiles, rubbers/leathers, metals and glasses/ceramics of dry muncipal solid wastes from three sources except office/industry were at range of 21.1~40.4%, 14.2~30.1%, 15.2~17.8%, 4.0~6.0%, 0.9~2.8%, 12.2~14.1% and 3.1~3.7% respectively. The moisture contents of foods, woods, textiles and papers in wastes were at range of 65.7~76.2%, 34.6~50.0%, 22.2~44.8 and 30.6~44.4% respectively. The carbon contents of vinyls/plastics, rubbers/leathers, textiles, woods, papers and foods in wastes were at range of 75.88~79.87%, 58.24~70.74%, 45.23~51.63%, 42.29~45.58%, 40.19~48.4% and 25.86~36.25% respectively. The low heating values of foods, papers, woods, textiles, rubbers/leathers and vinyls/plastics by Dulong's law were at range of 178~1,353kcal/kg, 770~1,660kcal/kg, 995~1,629kcal/kg, 2,133~2,432kcal/kg, 4,200~7,275 kcal/kg and 6,384~8,722kcal/kg respectively, and the high heating values of them were at range of 782~2,056 kcal/kg, 2,459~3,314kcal/kg, 3,056~3,592kcal/kg, 4,381~5,087kcal/kg, 5,005~8,066kcal/kg and 10,032~10,739 kcal/kg respectively.

        In order to provide the basic information on the environmental pollution of Kyungsan province, the contents of Pb, Cd, Cr, Cu, Mn and Zn in soil, stream water, aquatic sediment and groundwater were investigated, and also the values of pH, COD, KMnO4-C, NH3-N, NO2-N, NO3-N and Cl- of stream water and groundwater were determined. The results were as follows. The values of COD, NH3-N, NO2-N and NO3-N of the stream waters were very low. The contents of Pb, Cd, Cr, Cu and Zn in the stream waters were respectively at range of 0.014~0.063 ㎎/ℓ, 0.004~0.007 ㎎/ℓ, 0~0.045 ㎎/ℓ, 0~0.008 ㎎/ℓ and 0.001~0.175 ㎎/ℓ, and these values were much lower than those of contaminated stream water in Korea. The contents of Cd, Cr, Cu and Zn in the soils were respectively at range of 0.12~0.71 ppm, 0.88~2.65 ppm, 2.86~22.33 ppm and 3.89~26.39 ppm, and these values were much lower than those of ordinary polluted areas in Korea. The contents of Cd, Cr, Cu, As, Zn and Mn in the aquatic sediments were respectively at range of 3.05~3.81 ppm, 14.6~70.6 ppm, 13.74~61.59 ppm, 76.8~465.5 ppm, 12.56~190.83 ppm and 333.3~1188.3 ppm. The values of pH, KMnO4-C, NH3-N and NO3-N of the groundwaters were respectively at range of 7.6~8.4, 0~3.95 ㎖, 0.05~0.15 ㎎/ℓ and 0.05~0.42 ㎎/ℓ. The contents of Pb, Cd and Cr in the groundwaters were respectively at range of 0.015~0.061 ㎎/ℓ, 0.006~0.009 ㎎/ℓ and 0.005~0.045 ㎎/ℓ.

        Carbamate 농약에 대한 cholinesterase(ChE)활성저해 관계를 규명 하고자 in vivo와 in vitro 실험을 하였다. ChE의 최적 pH는 8.0이었다. 병아리 혈장의 ChE 활성은 기질로 acetylcholin를 사용할 경우 24.6 μmol/min/g protein이었다. in vivo에서 BPMC을 0.32 mg/kg 경구 투여한 15분 후에 ChE 활성이 60% 까지 저해되었으며 그후 12시간 후에 97% 까지 회복이 일어났다. in vitro에서 효소 활성이 50%로 저해되는데 필요한 농도인 I50이 Phenyl N-methylcarbamate계에 XMC는 329 μg/ℓ였고, metolcarb은 214 μg/ℓ였다. BPMC는 111 μg/ℓ, propoxur는 107 μg/ℓ, isoprocarb는 104 μg/ℓ 이었다. Aromatic N-methylcarbamate계에 속하는 carbaryl의 I50은 280 μg/ℓ이었고, carbofuran 114 μg/ℓ이었다.

        pH(H2O), pH(KCl), CEC(cation exchange capacity), O.M.(organic matter) and exchangeable cations(K, Na, Ca, Mg) of paddy soil, upland soil and forest soil in Kumi city were investigated for the purpose of knowing soil acidification and the correlation between soil acidification and leaching of inorganic salts. The mean pH(H2O) values of paddy soil were 5.23(surface soil) and 5.69(subsoil), and those of upland soil were 6.37(surface soil) and 6.11(subsoil), and those of forest soil were 4.67(surface soil) and 4.74(subsoil). The mean pH(KC1) values of paddy soil were 4.59(surface soil) and 4.98(subsoil), and those of upland soil were 5.48(surface soil) and 5.04(subsoil), and those of forest soil were 3.82(surface soil) and 3.89(subsoil). The acidification of forest soil was more rapid than that of paddy soil and upland soil. The total mean amounts of exchangeable cations(K, Na, Ca, Mg) in paddy soils were 6.14me/100g(surface soil) and 5.64me/100g(subsoil), and those in upland soils were 6.86me/100g(surface soil) and 6.65 me/100g (subsoil), and those in forest soils were 4.06me/100g(surface soil) and 3.34me/100g (subsoil). The contents of inorganic salts in forest soil were much less than those of paddy soil and upland soil. The correlation coefficients(r) between pH(H2O) values and the total amounts of exchangeable cations in soils were 0.6635** (surface soil) and 0.6946** (subsoil), and those between pH(KCI) values and exchangeable cations in soils were 0.6629** (surface soil) and 0.5675**(subsoil).The correlation between soil acidification and leaching of inorganic salts in soil was positively significant at 1% level.

        In order to examine the availability and effectiveness of crab shell for the removal of heavy metals in aqueous solution, the crab shell was compared with cation exchange resin (CER), zeolite, granular activated carbon (GAC) and powdered activated carbon (PAC) on aspects of heavy metal removal capacity, rate and efficiency. In the removal of Pb, Cd and Cr, the heavy metal removal capacity of crab shell was higher than those of any other sorbents (CER, zeolite, GAC, PAC), and the order of heavy metal removal capacity was crab shell > CER > zeolite > PAC =~GAC. However, in the removal of Cu, the result of crab shell was slightly lower than that of CER. The initial heavy metal removal rate was affected by the sorts of sorbents and metals. In all heavy metals, the heavy metal removal rate of crab shell was higher than those of any other sorbents. Under the heavy metal concentration of 1.0 mmole/ℓ, the heavy metal removal efficiency of crab shell was maintained as 93∼100 %, which was much higher than those of any other sorbents.

        The pollution characteristics of groundwaters in Taegu City and correlation coefficients(r) between water pollution indicators were investigated for two years from January 1996 to December 1997. Volatile organic compounds such as TCE(tri-chloroethylene), PCE(tetrachloroethylene), 1,1,1-trichloroethane, THM(trihalo-methane), dichloromethane, pesticides such as diazinon, parathion, malathion, and toxic inoganic matters such as As, Hg, Se, Pb, Cd, Cr6+ , CN were not detected in the groundwaters. Mean values of groundwater pollution indicators were below drinking-water standards, but hardness, KMnO4-C(potassium permanganate consumption), evaporate residues, SO4-2, Fe, NO3- -N, color and turbidity exceeded a little in some samples. As groundwater became deeper, hardness and evaporate residues remarkably increased, but KMnO4-C, NO3- -N, Cl-, color, turbity and bacteria decreased. KMnO4-C, evaporate residues, Cl- and SO4-2 were very high at industrial and commercial areas, and NO3- -N and NH4+-N were very high at agricultural and forest areas. It showed high positive significances in the relationships between hardness and each of evaporate residues, SO4-2, Zn and Mn, KMnO4-C and each of color, turbidity and Zn, color and each of turbidity, Cu, Zn and Mn, turbidity and each of Fe, Cu, Zn and Mn, and evaporate residues and each of Cl-, SO4-2 and Zn.

        To study the residue of organophosphorus pesticides in the ocean environment on the Cheju island, EPN[O-ethyl-O-4-nitrophenyl phenylphosphonothioate] and monocrotophos [Dimethyl-1-methyl-2-methy] carbamoylvinylphosphate] of organophosphorus pesticides are surveyed on coastal environment of Cheju city and Wimi in May and October 1996. The qualified limit detection of EPN and monocrotophos are 0.005ng/mL and 0.006ng/mL., in the water by GC-FPD, respectively. The qualified limit detection of EPN and monocrotophos are 0.010ng/g and 0.012ng/g in the solid such as sediment and sea organism by GC-FPD, respectively. EPN and monocrotophos are not detected in seawater and sediment. Moreover EPN and monocrotophos are neither detected in seaweed cava (Ecklonia cava), Agar (Gelidium amansii), turban sell(Batillus cornutus) and sea urchin(Anthocidaris Crassispina). EPN, monocrotophos used in the farm on the Cheju island are not residued in the coastal environment in the Cheju island.

        In order to investigate the effects of pH and organic matter content on cadmium adsorption and exchangeable cations desorption in soils, the adsorption isotherms of cadmium and the desorption isotherms of calcium and magnesium on four New Jersey soils at four pH values were plotted, and the cadmium partition coefficients (Kd) were also calculated. The slopes of cadmium adsorption isotherms dramatically increased with increasing solution pH. Judging from Langmuir adsorption equations, the maximum adsorption quantities (b) of cadmium at high pH values were much greater than those at low pH values for the same soil. The partition coefficients increased greatly with increasing solution pH. The slopes of regression equations between partition coefficients and pH values were steep in the order of the organic matter content of the soils. The correlation coefficients (r^2) between partition coefficient and organic matter content for 1 × 10 exp (-4) M increased from 0.3027 at pH 4.0 to 0.9964 at pH 8.5 and from 0.2093 at pH 4.0 to 0.9657 at pH 8.5 for 2×10 exp(-4) M Cd (NO3)2. The desorption quantities of calcium and magnesium decreased with increasing solution pH and increased with increasing cadmium adsorption.

        In order to provide the basic information for the water quality modeling, the water pollution indicators of Sin stream and Keumho river flowing through Taegu city were measured, and the periodical variations of these indicators were studied under the condition of stagnating for 19 days. For this experiment, three sampling sites(Sungpook bridge, Mutae bridge and Gangchang bridge) were selected. Sungpook bridge is located most down the Sin stream, Mutae bridge and Gangchang bridge are located on the lower Keumho river. The results were as follows. 1. The values of water pollution indicators measured at Mutae bridge were pH 8.7, TSS 51㎎/ℓ, TS 383㎎/ℓ, Cl^- 60.68㎎/ℓ, turbidity 32FTU, DO 8.58㎎/ℓ, oxygen deficit 2.02㎎/ℓ, COD 16.32㎎/ℓ, organic carbon 13.60㎎/ℓ. 2. At Gangchang bridge located down more than Mutae bridge, the values of these indicators were pH 8.0, TSS 26㎎/ℓ, TS 737㎎/ℓ, Cl^- 90.59㎎/ℓ, turbidity 37FTU,DO 3.49㎎/ℓ, oxygen deficit 7.11㎎/ℓ, COD 28.02㎎/ℓ, organic carbon 14.28㎎/ℓ. 3. At Sungpook bridge, the values of these indicators were pH 8.3, TSS 145㎎/ℓ, TS 344㎎/ℓ, Cl^- 32.51㎎/ℓ, turbidity 60FTU, DO 6.53㎎/ℓ, oxygen deficit 4.07㎎/ℓ, COD 43.79㎎/ℓ, organic carbon 11.03㎎/ℓ. 4. At Mutae bridge and Sungpook bridge of which initial DOs were high, DOs have decreased under the condition of stagnating for 7 days and increased after that time. On the contrary, at Gangchang bridge of which oxygen deficit was very high(7.11mg/l), DO have increased under the condition of stagnating for 13 days and decreased after that time. 5. All the samples showed the quick decrease of CODs and organic carbons under the condition of stagnating for 19 days. Nevertheless, at Sungpook bridge of which initial COD was very high (43.79㎎/ℓ), the value of COD measured at the last day of experiment was still high(21.35㎎/ℓ), because of a large quantity of reducing inorganic matters. 6. All the samples didn`t show the distinct decrease of turbidities because of a large quantity of nonbiodegradable inorganic solids.
