        Despite growing interest in Korean foods, South-east Asian consumers’ perception and acceptance of Korean foods have not been well elucidated. This study was conducted to understand South-east Asian Muslim consumers’ perception and acceptance of Korean foods and the association with their food neophobia level. Ninety-three Muslim consumers (mean ages 25.2, men 35.5%, women 64.5%) from Malaysia (72%), Indonesia (16.1%), and Singapore (11.9%) rated their degree of food neophobia as well as recognition and acceptance of representative Korean menu items. Background data such as duration of stay and Korean food consumption habits were collected. Overall, participants perceived Korean foods positively (4.04 on a 5-point hedonic scale). Most well-recognized Korean foods were gimbap and bulgogi, whereas less-known spicy foods such as ojingoe deopbap were most liked among items that were actually consumed. A neophobic group rated Korean foods less favorably than neutral and neophilic groups (p<0.05). Future studies are required to identify whether or not South-east Asian Muslim consumers’ food neophobia is formed under the influence of religious regulations or reflect individual consumers’ personal traits.

        탈지 가자박으로 부터 free, soluble 및 insoluble bound phenolic acids를 추출하여 식용대두유 기질에서 항산화효과률 0.02%(w/w)의 BHA, BHT의 항산화 효과와 비교하고자 각 기질과 대조구를 에서 35일간 저장하면서 매 7일 간격으로 과산화물가, TBA가를 측갱하였다. BHA, BHT와 free, soluble 및 insoluble hound phenolic acids를 첨가한 시험구와 대조구의 과산화물가는 21일의 경우 60, 30, 14, 11, 10, 100이었다. 같은 조건하에서 추출물의 TBA가는 0.150, 0.108, 0.105, 0.073, 0.078, 0.185이었다. 이것으로 보아 phenolic acids는 식용대두유 기질에서 우수한 항산화력을 나타내었다. 분리확인된 phenolic acids는 p-coumaric acid, ferulic acid, phloroglucinol, pyrogallol, vanillic acid, caffeic acid으로 확인되었다.

        In this study, we evaluated the antioxidant activity and anti-inflammatory effects of Abeliophyllum distichum (A. distichum) leaves that were prepared via air-drying. Fresh and air-dried A. distichum leaves were examined via 1,1-diphenyl-2-picryl hydrazyl (DPPH) radical, and 2,2'-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) diammonium salt (ABTS) radical scavenging assay and measurements of the reducing power. The suppression effects on inflammation of the leaves were analyzed by a western blot and RT-PCR on LPS-induced RAW 264.7 cells. As a result, the antioxidant activity of the fresh leaves was found to be more effective than that of the air-dried leaves. Also, the fresh leaves were more effective in suppressing the protein and mRNA levels of iNOS and COX-2 than the air-dried leaves, thereby indicating the better anti-inflammatory effects. In addition, the contents of phenolic compounds and acteoside were analyzed by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The results showed that the acteoside content decreased with the use of the air-drying method, while there was no change in the content of phenolic compounds. Therefore, this study indicated that fresh A. distichum leaves potential antioxidant and suppression activities of various factors that are involved in the production of NO, which were found to be better than those of air-dried A. distichum leaves. These biological activities were also found to be independent of the content of phonolic compounds and were assumed to be directly or indirectly related to the content of acteoside.

        The study intends to find out contents and impacts of rural development projects implemented by government in Ucheon myon-center village (Hoingseong-county) between 1989-1995. The projects in concern are Rural Industrial Estate Project(1989-90) and Rural Collective Village Project(1992-93), The restructuring of village plan introduced new construction and renewal of buildings that are required for a myon-center in general has to be. The study reveals some morphological patterns the village has and needs to be adjusted. As a conclusion, it proposes a conception of self-containment for a myon-center development. It is necessary that a project plan strategy should be based upon harmonious exploitation between old and new, flexible planning, and sense of technological alternatives.
