Focusing on Hwaseokjeong in Paju, the work seeks to clarify the social production of Nujeong (樓亭: Korean traditional pavilions) space, which took place over the 1960s and 70s, and its cultural-political implications. To make the effort as such meaningful, a theoretical framework based not merely on the thesis of ‘social production of space’ advocated by Henri Lefebvre but especially on some discussions related to ‘state production of space’ is prepared, according to which Hwaseokjeong is analyzed and explained. As a consequence, two principal arguments are put forward: one is that Hwaseokjeong was a social space which had been built and constructed in accordance with the unique mode of production dominating Korean society at that time called ‘the state mode of production (le mode de production étatique )’; the other is that what lies beneath the denotation of a ‘social space of tradition restoration’ that Hwaseokjeong appears to carry is in fact the connotation of ‘infiltration of anti-communist ideology’. All of these claims are once again supported both by examining Roland Barthes's semiology and mythologies and by considering Hwaseokjeong's Pyeonaek (扁額: a plaque or framed text) as ‘the practice of naming power through J esa (題詞: inscribing dedications)’. While providing a succinct summary, the paper finally evaluates what ‘social production of space’ implies to social practices of architecture and related criticisms by taking into account the relationship between visibility and readability of space including buildings.

이 작업의 주된 목적은 문화예술 기반의 도시재생과 계급 문제에 대한 현시대적 함의를 부산과 창춘의 사례분석을 통해 도출하려는데 있다. 실지로 문화예술 기반의 도시재생이란 역사사회적 맥락에서 문화예술의 상상력 및 실천력과 철학의 비판력을 절합하는 대화만큼 중요한 것은 없다. 그 대화를 통해 서로는 한층 더 풍요로워질 수 있고, 그 풍요로움을 통해 ‘도시 공동체로서 창조적 장소 만들기’라는 현시 대의 사회적 의제는 젠트리피케이션의 폐해를 극복하는 추동력으로 변모할 수 있다. 그뿐만 아니라 그 과정을 차근차근 밟아갈 때 현시대 문화실천가는 비로소 도시에 대한 자신의 권리를 더욱더 강력하게 주장할 수 있는 연대를 도모할 수 있게 된다. 그리고 이 모두는 시민 자신의 힘으로 더 정의로운 도시를 가꿔나갈 수 있는 토대로 작동하게 된다. ‘또따또가’와 ‘무단거리’의 두 사례를 포함해 지금껏 이 작업에서 해 왔던 논의 모두는 바로 이 같은 주장을 뒷받침하도록 설계된다.

The main purpose of this work is to provide an unprecedented view on hanzi which a particular group of citizens called graffitists use for their everyday cultural practices. To fulfil the purpose as such, it, most of all, seeks to think of graffiti in general or praxis of graffiti writing as a form of art based upon the de Certaurean conceptualisation of ‘textual poaching’. Taking a more philosophical approach to graffiti from a Spinozian-Deleuzian perspective, it, then, reconsiders both graffiti and graffiti writing to be ‘crimes of styles’ resisting the taken-for-granted law and order that not merely controls urban streets but rules the everyday lives of citizens. In the final analysis, it underlines the cultural value of hanzi against a series of violent assaults carried out by the State on us, the citizens.

현시대에 이르러 이른바 4차 산업혁명의 담론이 범람하고 있다. 이처럼 엄중한 상황에서 인문학의 사회적 책무는 4차 산업혁명이란 것은 도대체 무엇인지, 그것은 또 어떠한 역사사 회적 과정과 맥락에서 등장하게 됐는지를 규명하는 작업을 최우선 과제로 삼는 일일 것이다. 이런 문제의식을 토대로, 이 작업은 현시대, 4차 산업혁명의 시대를 속도혁명 또는 질주정적 혁명의 시대로 상정, 규명하고, 속도-헤게모니에 맞설 수 있는 리듬-대항헤게모니의 가능성, 달리 말해 그 둘 간의 변증법적 관계 설정의 가능성을 한자의 문화콘텐츠화에서 모색한다. 다양한 이론적 작업을 통해 한자의 문화콘텐츠화를 뒷받침하고 한자 자체의 사회적 가치를 증진하는 것이야말로 미래의 시민과 시민사회 형성에 기여하리라는 주장도 아울러 펼친다.

어떤 주장을 두고 그것을 비판적으로 종합하는 일은 인문학의 사회적 책무다. 그 책무를 다하려는 이 작업은 따라서 ‘중국어 원지음 표기와 한국어 정체성 보존’이라는 구체적 문제에 접근하는데 어떤 방법이 더 타당할지를, 또 이를 토대로 어떤 제언이 가능할지를 이론적으로 탐색한다. 주된 방법론적 틀은 수렴과 분기의 변증법적 관계설정으로 삼는다. 궁극적으로는 문화적 고정성과 유동성의 모순을 한쪽으로 환원·포섭하려는 이론 생산 및 논의 주체의 욕망을 들여다보려 애씀과 동시에 그것이 생성시킬 벡터의 정당성은 다름 아닌 대중문화의 향유 주체인 대중과 일상적 언어생활의 영위 주체인 언중의 억눌린 욕망이 해방되는 장을 상 정할 때 비로소 획득될 수 있다는 주장을 내어 놓으면서 또 다른 비판적 종합을 기다린다.
