Since a free-learning semester has been introduced to middle school curriculum, interest in career experience programs has increased. To respond to this new demand, we developed a continuous agriculture-related career experience program linked with STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) education, and we examined the program’s effects on the job awareness of middle school students. The program was conducted from April 8, 2015 to June 24, 2015, and consisted of 12 classes. The direct experience subprogram was based on 13 different horticultural activities that reflect producing (nine programs), cooking (two programs), and sales (two programs) of horticultural produces. For the indirect experience subprogram, we preliminarily selected 10 representative agricultural jobs, and based on the keywords analyzed from 7 direct experience programs, we chose to introduce seven jobs to the students by videos and the three others by written material. We then investigated the effect of introductory videos on job interest, understanding, and preference by the students. We found that the student’s interest, understanding, and preference regarding each job were significantly improved when direct experience and video watching were combined. Career awareness was improved for gardener (47.0%), nursery grower (42.0%), rural extension official (31.1%), eco-friendly farm material developer (30.9%), agricultural research official (23.4%), plant doctor (19.8%), and agricultural wholesale distribution experts (9.3%). Conclusively, it is expected that career experience programs have the greatest effect on students when both interest in the job and participation on direct experiences are encouraged.
This study was conducted to apply a horticultural therapy program to childhood cancer patients, to analyze their psychosocial changes and thus to examine its possibility as a way to manage the recovery of childhood cancer patients. This study was conducted on patients who were diagnosed with childhood cancer, and they were divided into the experimental group (8 patients who visited H association offices located in 3 cities and participated in the horticultural program) and the control group (5 patients who did not participate in the program). The homogeneity between the two groups before conducting the program was compared, and there was no statistically significant difference, which proved that the two groups were homogeneous. After conducting the program, the score of social immaturity, one of the sub-categories of problem behaviors, of the experimental group was statistically significantly lower than that of the control group (p=.019). Changes before and after the program within the groups were compared, and the somatization score (p=.039) of the experimental group (p=.039) after the program was 1.13, down from 2.13 before the program. The social immaturity score (p=.017) of the experimental group after the program was 1.00, down from 2.63 before the program, and the attention problem score (p=.026) of the group after the program was 1.25, down from 2.50 before the program. The total problem behavior score (p=.034) of the experimental group after the program was 9.63, down from 18.50 before the program, showing a statistically significant decrease. The cumulative subjective mood score (p=.000) of the experimental group throughout the entire sessions after the program was 7.82, up from 6.99 before the program, showing a statistically significant increase. Therefore, it can be concluded that the horticultural therapy program developed based on the ‘relaxationsocial support-cognitive behavior’ strategy was effective to reduce the negative psychosocial state of childhood cancer patients.
This study was conducted to investigate the change of workers physiology and sensitivity according to the plant decoration activity using electroencephalographic (EEG), electrocardiogram, and semantic differential (SD) methods on 31 male and female workers in their twenties. Plant decoration activity and writing documents on a computer (WDOC) were carried out for 10 minutes each. The relative slow alpha power spectrum (RSA) has been highly exhibited at most measurement points at plant decoration activity compared to WDOC, and ratio of alpha to high beta spectrum (RAHB) was higher in the parietal lobe responsible for visual function in charge of visual function and showed stable and relaxed effect with little stress or tension. In addition, the relatively fast alpha power spectrum (RFA), which is responsible for visual function, after WDOC was higher than after plant decoration activity in the left parietal lobe (P <.05). Although not statistically significant, the relative high beta power spectrum (RHB) and the ratio of mid beta to theta (RMT), which are stress concentration indexes with tension, were highly regarded as a whole when performing WDOC. There was little difference in heart rate between after both activities. However, high frequency (HF) component indicating parasympathetic nervous system activity was more highly active after WDOC than Planting decoration activity, and the low frequency (LF) component indicating sympathetic nervous system activity tended to be lower after WDOC than after planting activity meaning that plant activity have a sense of stability than WDOC and these results were similar to brain wave analysis. In addition, the sense of comfort, naturalness, calm were significantly higher when the plant decoration activity was performed than when the WDOC was performed in the SD emotional vocabulary survey. These results could be interpreted that plant decoration activity induced more physiologically and psychologically stability and relaxation than WDOC, and enhanced attention ability in appropriate awakening state.
The objective of this study was to investigate the current situations of farms in South Korea which provide care farming activities in order to develop and settle care farms. A questionnaire that includes 60 questions about resources, clients, management, background of establishment, budget, manpower, organization, etc. was developed by the researchers. The survey was conducted by email and phone interview in the period of July to August, 2016. Five farms were participated in this study. As the results, each farm had a different size of land, about 744 – 39,670 m2. The farms were classified by different types of farming activities such as cultivating horticultural crops or cultivating horticultural crops and raising animals. The background of farmers was health, special education, social welfare or professional farmer. The income sources were from care farming programs, educational program, and crop production. The participants in the care farm were children with or without disability, adolescents, adolescents with behavior problem, adults, adults with mental disability or developmental disability, mental illness, dementia, addict, etc. The major activities in care farms were plant cultivating, harvesting, garden maintenance, cooking by using harvest, crop processing, waling in the farm, caring for animals, dealing with farm work equipment, and farming activity with local residents, etc. The participation duration was 25% for one-day experience, less than two weeks in a week, and more than six months, respectively. To settle and develop care farming of South Korea, the concept, clients, operation, professional manpower, policy, support, etc. should be established.
This study was taken place to find out the psychological change with comparing before and after the experience of installation of indoor garden with 55 of subjects out of 62 subjects. More than 50% of subject answered that the garden management would be difficult before they experience the installation but the pressure was decreased while the interest of plants and landscape increased, however, the burden of management decreased and the interest in the kinds of plants and landscape design tended to increase after the experience of the installation. The psychological effect of indoor garden of workers was significantly increased with the question of “Indoor garden improves effect of air cleaning.” after the experience of installation and the loyalty was statistically increased with the question of “Intend to invest more fund to purchase indoor plant” (p <.05). As a result of the comparison of two psychological indicators, the recovery index of the state according to experience of indoor gardening was significantly higher after experiencing the indoor garden than before the indoor gardening experience. As the result of sensibility evaluation of pleasant, natural and calm with semantic differential method, workers feel more of them with the indoor garden. In addition, the loyalty was statistically significantly higher in the question “I would be willing to invest more in plant purchase” after experiencing the composition indoor garden (p <.05). This result is similar to the result that the resident’s recovery index, pleasantness, calm feeling, and emotional index are higher the indoor garden in public resting area with indoor garden than without indoor garden. With this study, the perception of indoor garden changed as a result of the worker’s experience of indoor gardening in the workplace and the view of the indoor garden created by the workers. As the psychological healing effect of indoor garden increased, increase in the cost investment for the emotional health promotion of the workers is expected to have a positive effect on the increase of the indoor garden.
This study was conducted to analyze the muscle activity in the right forearm and shoulderwhile doing the sowing activity by muscle type and work section, and to find the possibility of the utilization of sowing as a muscle exercise and rehabilitative activity based on the results of the analysis. The results showed that the activity of 7 muscles including the upper trapezius near the neck, the upper trapezius near the shoulder, the middle deltoid, the biceps brachii, the triceps brachii, the brachioradialis, and the flexor carpi ulnaris were significantly higher than the stable state. In addition, the muscle activity in the sections of mixing the soil, filling the tray with the soil, sowing, writing the label, and watering was significantly higher than the stable state. In particular, the muscle activity of the biceps brachii and the triceps brachii was statistically significantly high in the section of filling the tray with the soil, which indicates that the task of filling the tray with the soil can be utilized as an exercise to activate the biceps brachii and the triceps brachii. In addition, the muscle activity of the brachioradialis was significantly high in all the work sections, which indicates that the sowing process can be utilized to exercise the brachioradialis in particular. These results can be used as the basic data about the activated muscle types and degrees throughout the sowing process. These results can be also used to induce the activation of specific muscles, and the overall exercise and rehabilitation of the forearms.
본 연구는 실내활동중심 원예치료 프로그램이 말기암 환자 보호자의 기분과 에너지에 미치는 영향을 알아보고자 수행되었다. 대상은 H의 료원 중증말기(호스피스병동입원) 성인암 환자를 간병하는 보호자로 주 2회, 회당 평균 30분, 집단치료로 수행되었다. 1기는 2016. 4월.~5 월.까지 7명, 2기는 2016. 5월.~6월.까지 7명, 3기는 2016. 6월.~7월.까지 6명, 총 20명의 단일 실험군이었다. 조사항목은 기분상태와 각성 (에너지)상태를 측정하기 위하여 James A. Russell 등(1990)에 의해 개발된 감정지도(Affect Grid)를 사용하였다. 수행된 원예치료 프로그램은 1회기는 자신의 부적절한 사고 및 감정을 잔디인형에 표현하고, 2회기에 부적절한 사고 및 감정을 허브식물 이식과정에서 뿌리로 통합하도록 하였다. 3회기 꽃바구니를 만드는 과정에서 사용된 다양한 꽃과 소재의 역할에서 자신의 강점을 탐색하 고, 4회기에 다육식물의 환경적응 및 강인함과 연결하여 접시정원을 완성하였다. 5회기에는 식재했던 허브식물의 잎을 수확하여 허브티 백을 만들고, 3회기에 남겨진 꽃으로 만든 압화를 이용하여 압화 액자를 만들고 환자와의 추억을 액자 속에 담도록 유도하였다. 7회기에는 코사지를 완성하는 과정에서 다양한 색감과 질감을 가진 꽃을 활용해 감각을 자극하며 코사지를 통하여 연상되는 긍정적인 경험을 회상할 수 있도록 격려하였고, 8회기에는 식용꽃 케이크를 만들고 허브차를 만들면서 파티(잔치)를 통해 연상되는 긍정적 경험을 회상할 수 있도 록 유도하였다. 이에 매회기별 원예치료 참여 전과 후의 기분 및 에너지 상태를 측정한 결과, 기분의 경우 원예치료 전 평균 4.10에서 후 6.42로 기분이 유의 하게 긍정적으로 변화하였고, 에너지의 경우 원예치료 전 평균 3.76에서 후 6.22로 에너지가 향상되는 것으로 나타났다. 활동 후 구두 또는 서면을 통한 느낌나누기에서 ‘피곤함이 사라졌다. 기분전환이 되었다. 감사하다, 힘이 된다.’ 등 프로그램을 긍정적으로 평가하였다. 특히 꽃바구니를 만들면서 화훼장식에서 적용되는 다양한 꽃의 역할들을 통해 현재 보호자로서의 자신의 역할에 대해 인식하고 스스로를 격려 할 수 있었으며, 완성된 꽃바구니를 환자 또는 다른 가족에게 선물 하면서 서로에 대한 감사를 표현할 수 있는 시간이었다.
본 연구는 ‘이완-인지행동-사회적 지지’전략에 기반하여 격주 수행된 실내활동중심 원예치료 프로그램이 보건소 이용 암환자의 코티졸과 세로토닌 변화에 미치는 영향을 알아보고자 수행되었다. 대상은 암으로 진단 받고 K보건소 행복교실을 이용하는 환자들 중 2015년 8월부터 2015년 12월까지 1기 15명, 2016년 3월부터 6월까지 2기 8명, 총 23명 실험군으로 단일집단연구로 이루어졌다, 회기당 90분, 격주 1회, 종 8회(2달) 동안 원예치료 프로그램을 수행하였다. 조사 항목 및 방법은 생리지표로 Cortisol, Serotonin을 측정하였다. 이완전략은 모든 회기의 시작단계에 적용되어 심리적, 신체적 긴장감을 완화하도록 유도하였다. 사회적 지지전략은 회기의 진행에 따라 순차적으로 적용되고, 시작 및 종료단계에서 적극적으로 이루어졌고, 활동 종료 후 가족 및 지지체계로부터 긍정적, 지속적 지지를 경험하 도록 하였다. 인지행동 전략은 부적절한 사고 및 상황 파악하기, 자신의 강점 인식하기, 긍정적 초점으로 문제해결하기, 긍정적 자기 재평 가하기의 4단계로 순차적으로 적용되고, 전개단계에서 적극적으로 이루어졌다. 자신의 부적절한 사고 및 감정을 압화이름표와 잔디인형 에 표현하고, 부적절한 사고 및 감정을 허브식물 이식과정에서 뿌리로 통합하도록 하였다. 꽃바구니를 만드는 과정에서 사용된 다양한 꽃 과 소재의 역할에서 자신의 강점을 탐색하고, 이를 다육식물의 환경적응 및 강인함과 연결하여 접시정원을 완성하였다. 또한 식재했던 허 브식물의 잎을 수확하여 허브티백을 만들고, 남겨진 꽃으로 만든 압화를 이용하여 압화 티매트를 만들면서 쓸모없어 다듬은 뿌리, 눌러둔 꽃이 새롭게 창조되는 경험을 통하여 자신의 문제를 긍정적 초점으로 해결하도록 도왔다. 새싹채소를 파종하고 수확하여 성취감과 새로운 생명력, 잠재적 가능성을 느끼고, 쓸모없다고 여겨진 꽃이 코사지로 만들어 그동안 참여한 자신에게 선물한다. 전체 회기동안 이루어진 활 동과 결과물을 이용하여 가든파티를 함으로써 자신을 긍정적으로 재평가할 수 있도록 구성하였다. 이에 실험군의 Cortisol은 원예치료 프로그램 사전에 비해 유의하게 낮아졌으며(p=0.014), Serotonin은 원예치료 프로그램 사전에 비해 유 의하게 증가(p=0.000)하였다.
연구는 ‘파종하기’을 작업구간별 20대 여성의 뇌파 변화를 분석한 단일사례 연구이다. 파종하기는 ‘흙섞기’를 1단계로 시작하여 ‘흙채우기’.‘씨앗뿌리기’,‘라벨작성’, ‘물주기’의 5단계로 분류하였다, 뇌파의 측정을 위하여, BIOS-S24(Biobrain, 2016)에서 개발한 24채널 system으로 이중 21채널을 사용하였고, Eaton사의 Electro-cap을 이용하여 측정하였다. 뇌 파는 파종하기 전 1분, 파종하기 중, 파종완료 후 1분 측정되었다. 실험결과, 정신적 안정을 나타내는 상대적 세타파는 파종 과정 시작 전에 비해 과정 완료 후 다소 증가한 경향을 보였다. 정신적 안정을 나타내는 상대적 알파파도 파종 과정 시작 전에 비해 과정 완료 후 다소 증가 한 경향을 보였다. 각성과 불안을 나타내는 상대적 베타파는 파종 과정 시작 전에 비해 과정 완료 후 후두엽 부분에서 현저히 증가하였다. 이는 시각기능을 담당하는 후두엽이 파종 과정동안 활성화(각성) 되었기 때문으로 여겨진다. 또한 스트레스 상태를 의미하는 상대적 감마 파는 파종 과정 시작 전에 비해 과정 완료 후 다소 감소한 경향을 보였다.
본 연구는 생애주기별 맞춤형 치유농업서비스를 적용하기 위하여 아동을 대상으로 하는 치유농업서비스 프로그램에 사용할 수 있는 아동 용 느낌말을 알아보고자 수행하였다. 조사는 2016년 4월 27일에서 5월 10일까지 서울, 전주 초등학교 4,5,6학년 학생 450명을 대상으로 조시를 실시하고, 조사에 정확하게 답한 392명을 대상으로 분석을 하였다. 조사내용은 한국비폭력대화센터에서 제시하고 있는 느낌말 목록(162개, 욕구가 충족되었을 때 71개, 욕 구가 충족되지 않았을 때 92개)으로 제시하고, 정확히 알겠다. 보통정도다. 정확히 모르겠다의 3점 척도로 조사하였다. 조사결과 욕구가 충족되었을 때의 목록 중 초등학생 80%이상이 알겠다고 답한 느낌말은 고마운, 즐거운, 행복한, 사랑하는, 감사한, 기쁜, 반가운, 신나는, 감동받은, 편안한, 재미있는, 따뜻한, 뿌듯한, 평화로운, 든든한, 여유로운, 용기나는, 가벼운, 당당한, 자신감 있는, 만족스 런, 차분한, 힘이 솟는, 진정되는, 활기찬, 안심이 되는 , 흥분된, 두근거리는, 긴장이 풀리는, 상쾌한, 포근한, 흥미로운, 기운이 나는, 살아있 는, 느긋한, 감격스런, 개운한, 짜릿한, 잠잠해진, 고요한, 흐뭇한, 평온한, 통쾌한, 들뜬으로 44개 느낌말로 나타났으며, 20%의 학생만이 알 고 있는 느낌말은 원기가 왕성한, 누그러지는으로 조사되었다. 욕구가 충족되지 않았을 때의 목록 중 초등학생 100-80%가 정확히 알겠다고 답한 느낌말은 무서운, 걱정되는, 화나는, 힘든, 심심한, 슬픈, 놀란, 부끄러운, 짜증나는, 외로운, 겁나는, 답답한, 억울한, 두려운, 안타까운, 떨리는, 실망스러운, 지루한, 그리운, 서운한, 귀찮은, 불편한, 속상한, 긴장한, 우울한, 괴로운, 피곤한, 불안한, 지겨운, 민망한, 지친, 쑥쓰러운, 섭섭한, 열받는, 어색한, 질린, 신경쓰이는, 서러운, 오싹 한, 분한, 약오르는, 조마조마한, 멍한, 좌절한, 초조한, 절망스러운, 혼란스러운, 찜찜한, 허전한, 따분한, 섬뜩한으로 51개의 느낌말로 조사 되었다. 암담한, 곤혹스러운, 겸연쩍은은 20%미만의 학생들만 알고 있다고 답하였다.
This study was focused on the relationship between horticultural preference and parenting attitude of parents having elementary school students. Because a human’s preference of plant was inhered an image of one’s life. This study carried out to define the variables related to horticultural preference and parenting attitude, for promotion in horticultural activity program of parent. For this study, the data was collected from 193 parents having elementary school child from May to July, 2015 at Seoul, and Jeonju city. The major variables related to parenting attitude were grade of children, dialogue hour with their children, understanding of their children, intimate, number of breakfast, occupation, family income, growing activity. And the relationship between parenting attitude and horticultural preference were marked statistical difference at plant classification into need a supporting stick, foodstuff, life time of plant, individual or community growth, cook and industrial arts or ornamental plants. Especially it was concerned in achievement, rationality, affection of parenting attitude.
It was conducted to provide a basis for the development of healing programs utilizing the existing infrastructure of the rural education farm in the process of looking for early application plan of ‘Agro-healing’. The purpose of operating the farm was in order production・ process・sales and education, and then, healing. The production・process・sales was the highest (p=0.000). All farms have had signs or bulletin board, parking. Gender-separated toilets, and basin was held 90% or more. The farm which was held cultivation facilities for disabled in wheelchair was found to be 9.6%. Regular employee was minimum 1 people including owner up to 10 people, an average of 3.7 people were working, a welfare horticultural therapist is the highest as a retain qualification. The purpose of operating program in the farm was education, it was the highest. The most utilizing resources were agricultural work for operation the programs (p=0.000). The program was developed by owner themselves in the most of farms. Regular employment was found to be 6.7%. The age of participant was in order elementary schoolchild and then toddlers. Group form of visiting was school unit or work unit mostly. Target who needed help appeared to alcohol drug addicts and then handicapped, the number of people of participating at the same time was minimum 10 to 100 people. 79% of respondents had the intend of introducing healing program and transition to healing farm. Subject who respondents wanted to access for the next healing program was elementary schoolchild. Number of participants which respondents wanted as a group was 15. Most general people wanted the emotional experience which stimulated the emotion and mood such as positive emotions, joy, and pride. If we introduce the program for healing utilizing the infrastructure of the rural education farm, it might contribute to explore new spaces for creative agriculture and the early settlement of ‘Agro-healing’.
This study was conducted to understand the public recognition about the concepts and literary definition ‘curing, healing’ as a reporter for basic research to be able to use the meaning of the terms and terminology related to ‘agro-healing’. The public was aware that ‘curing’ and ‘healing’ are different, ‘healing’ is natural compared to ‘curing’, ‘do’ is for ‘curing’, ‘become’ is for ‘healing’. This is interpreted as ‘curing’ is active, ‘healing’ is ‘passive’ and natural processes manually. And also, ‘healing’ is required for those who do not have a problem and was recognized as priority access to psychological and social purposes. ‘Healing’ has the means to cure the sick and disease, and the target of ‘sick, disease’ include abstract and mental. It equals to literary definition. Based on these results, in order to promote the ‘agro-healing’ in Korea, it will have to go to find the direction focused on the psychological and social purpose to highlight the differences between the results obtained with the medical approach. This study looked at with meaning and usage of english vocabulary. The area which is discussed as ‘agro-healing’ in Korea is expressed as green care’, ‘care farming’, ‘green care farming’, ‘social farming’, etc. in Europe. There are presented translation of the term differently for each scholar, Rural Development Administration has proposed as ‘agro-healing’ in final. How to use the english vocabulary may not be considered, but to develop the ‘agro-healing’ as science, brand name and industry internationally, which english brand name will be used should also be important. When we saw the meaning of many english vocabulary, including usage and discussion, the word ‘healing’ which means the healing in humans is considered the best goal-oriented and well known term that reflects the current social trends. when combined ‘agri’ which means the ‘land’ comes from the Latin word as a expression that encompasses rural resources with ‘healing’, ‘agro-healing’, it could be used as english name which has comprehensive meaning that is healing and rural resource utilization through agriculture.
This study was conducted to evaluate effects of indoor horticultural therapy program based on ‘relaxation - cognitive behavior - social support’ strategy on quality of life, stress and serotonin of woman cancer patients. Subjects were 18 female cancer patients. Experimental group of 9 members received a horticultural therapy program and control group of 9 members did not receive a horticultural therapy program. The horticultural therapy program was conducted, for 90 minutes per session, once a week, total 8 times. And this study was performed from 9. Nov. to 28. Dec. in 2015. As a results, horticultural therapy program made significant improvement in emotional condition among sub-category of quality of life, nervousness, depression and frustration among sub-category of stress. Also the program decreased the total stress score with significant increased level of serotonin comparing to control group. This result means that depression mood in cancer patients was improved. In summary, horticultural therapy program focused on indoor activities based on ‘Relaxation-social support-cognitive behavioral’ strategy could be utilized as supporting program for psychological health for cancer survivors.
