        This study aimed to investigate the physicochemical characteristics and antioxidant activity of cereal bars containing various concentrations (0, 10, 20, or 30%) of apple pomace (AP). Highest vitamin B1 and C contents were observed in 30% AP-containing bars, but vitamin B2 and B3 contents were highest in the control (0.347 and 3.566 mg/100 g, respectively). Cutting strength decreased significantly in an AP concentration-dependent manner. Total polyphenol and flavonoid contents in 10% AP bars were 2.949±0.157 mg of GAE/g and 1.001±0.009 mg of CE/g, respectively. Antioxidant activities were assessed by measuring free radical scavenging activities, and 10% AP bars had the highest activities, as determined by ABTS (2,2'azino-bis-(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) and DPPH (α-α-diphenyl-β-picrylhydrazyl) assays (0.412±0.008 and 0.492±0.021 mg GAE/g, respectively). These results suggested that apple pomace should be regarded a potential nutritional and antioxidant source.

        There has been increased interest in lignans due to their potential effect in reducing the risk of developing several diseases. To evaluate lignan contents, sensitive and accurate methods should be developed for their quantification in food. The present study aimed to validate a liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) method for the quantification of 5 lignans: lariciresinol (Lar), matairesinol (Mat), pinoresinol (Pin), secoisolariciresinol (Seco), and syringaresinol (Syr). The validation included selectivity, linearity, recovery, accuracy, and precision. The method was proved to be specific, with a linear response (R2≥0.99). The limits of detection were 0.040~0.765 μg/100 g and the limits of quantification were 0.114~1.532 μg/100 g. Recoveries were 90.588~109.053% for black sesame powder. Relative standard deviations of repeatability and reproducibility were below 5%. Total lignan contents of roasted coffee bean, oat, and blacksoy bean were 105.702 μg/100 g, 78.965 μg/100 g, and 165.521 μg/100 g, respectively. These results showed that LC-MS/MS analysis would be effective in producing acceptable sensitivity, accuracy, and precision in five lignan analyses.

        Despite the recent increase in the consumption level of the processed meat-byproducts, the health and safety issue has consistently been raised in the processes of production, distribution and consumption. The purpose of this study is to analyze and evaluate the microbiological hazard elements in the Korean sausage, “Sundae,” to present not only the safety standard of meat by-product vendors based on HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point), but also the quality control criteria and sanitary arrangements of small manufacturers. For the study, the microbiological hazards in 24 raw materials, 7 manufacturing processes, 40 facilities and tools, 17 workplace environment, and 12 workers were analyzed. The analysis revealed the hazardous elements in the initial stages with 6.28 and 4.07 log CFU/g of total aerobic count and coliforms, respectively, detected from the porcine blood and 3.23 log CFU/g of coliforms from the porcine small intestines. The result also showed that the total aerobic counts and coliforms in the process of mixing and filling process exceeds the standards in the hygiene guidelines by Natick with the total aerobic counts of 5.23, 5.45 log CFU/g, and the coliforms of 3.25, and 3.31 log CFU/g, respectively. Although the detected total aerobic count and the coliforms in the filling and washing rooms exceeded the standards, it was found that the total aerobic count was significantly reduced by 98% after cleaning and disinfecting and no coliforms was detected in any process thereafter. In order to achieve high level of safety in the manufacturing processes of Sundae, the separation of washing and disinfection room from the other sections and the sanitation control of the workers must be preceded, along with strict monitoring in the storage and distribution processes. The study raises necessity for additional studies for the safety evaluation of the processed meat-byproducts and further researches on the validity of the critical limits.

        Purpose: This study aimed to gain an in-depth understanding by analyzing and exploring the work experience of infection control nurses (ICNs) in response to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: Data were collected from 14 ICNs, (two in in-depth interviews and 12 in groups of six) from February 19, 2021, to March 20, 2021, and were analyzed according to the content. Results: In the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, ICNs took the lead in responding to infectious diseases, where they felt pressure in doing everything. In addition, they were confused by a lack of workforce and undetailed job plans. ICNs have been exhausted by insufficient support and system, such as the lack of support in the hospital, communication with health authorities, and difficulties with patients and visitors. However, ICNs settle with the help and encouragement of those around them. For example, pride in the work that only ICN can do, change in the cooperation of hospitals, and development of ICNs’ unique method of perseverance. Conclusion: During the COVID-19 pandemic, ICNs experienced structural, physical, and mental difficulties at work. Nevertheless, the study found that a driving force enabled ICNs to endure, and that to efficiently respond to new infectious diseases in the future, it is necessary to secure ICNs and strengthen them.

        This study examines the effects of different cooking methods (stir-frying, steaming, superheated-steaming) on the contents and the true retention of moisture, water-soluble vitamins, and bioactive compounds of ten selected vegetables: broccoli, brussels sprout, cabbage, eggplant, green bean, onion, red cabbage, red onion, squash, and tomato. The total color difference (ΔE) values were decreased after stir-frying the samples, except for eggplant, green bean, and tomato. The true retention of water-soluble vitamins (B1, B2, B3, and C) was increased in most vegetables after superheated-steaming, as compared to steaming and stir-frying. Moreover, compared to the uncooked vegetables, a higher true retention of total polyphenol and flavonoid was obtained for most vegetables subsequent to superheated-steaming. Total anthocyanin content was detected only in eggplant, red cabbage, and red onion, and a smaller loss of anthocyanin was determined after subjecting red cabbage to superheated-steaming. Also, the free radical scavenging activities were higher in superheatedsteaming vegetables, except in eggplant and squash. These results indicate that superheated-steaming induces a positive effect for retaining water-soluble vitamins and functional components of vegetables.

        본 연구는 십자화과 채소인 갓(Brassica juncea) 추출물 을 이용하여 지표성분인 sinigrin의 함량을 분석하고, 내분비계 교란물질 환경호르몬인 비스페놀 A (BPA)로 분화를 유도한 3T3-L1 전구지방세포에서 갓 추출물과 sinigrin 처 리에 대한 지방세포 분화 및 활성산소종(ROS) 생성 억제, 지방 생성 전사인자(PPARγ, C/EBPα, aP2)의 단백질 발현 감소 효능을 평가하였다. 연구 결과에 따르면 HPLC를 이용하여 측정한 갓 추출물 중 sinigrin의 함량은 21.27±0.2 mg/g 인 것으로 나타났다. BPA로 유도된 3T3-L1 전구지방세포에 서 XTT assay 결과 sinigrin 180 μM 및 갓 추출물 300 μg/ mL 농도에서 세포 독성을 보이지 않았으며, 지방세포 분화과정 중 세포 내 지방 축적량과 ROS 생성량을 비교하였을 때 갓과 sinigrin을 처리한 지방세포의 경우 지방축 적량 및 ROS 생성량 모두 유의적으로 감소시키는 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 갓 추출물 및 sinigrin을 처리하였을 때 지 방세포 분화를 조절하는 전사인자 PPARγ, C/EBPα 및 aP2 의 발현이 억제됨을 확인하였다. 이 결과를 통해 갓은 환 경호르몬 비스페놀 A로 유도된 지방세포 내 지방 축적 억제와 더불어 ROS 저감에 효과적으로 작용함을 확인하였다. 향후 sinigrin을 함유한 갓은 BPA로 인한 지질 대사 장애를 예방하는 천연물 유래 기능성 식품 소재로 활용할 가능성이 높은 것으로 기대되며, 추가로 임상 연구 및 작용기전 입증을 위한 in vivo 모델에서의 후속 연구가 진 행되어야 할 것으로 사료된다.

        목적: 소프트 렌즈의 이상적인 피팅을 위해 각막 윤부의 모습에 따라 콘택트렌즈의 후면디자인이 렌즈의 피팅에 미치는 영향을 알아보고자 하였다. 방법: 젊은 성인 대상으로 난시가 없는 피검자 31(62안)명과 난시가 있는 피검자 29(58안) 명을 대상으로 각막의 윤부의 형태를 5가지 형태로 구분하였다. 피검자들은 후면 디자인이 비구면인 구면 및 토릭 소프트 렌즈를 착용하였다. 렌즈를 30분 이상 착용 후 세극등 현미경으로 중심안정 상태, 좌우상하 래그 량, Push-up test을 진행하였고, 난시가 있는 피검자 들의 경우 토릭 소프트렌즈의 회전량도 함께 측정하였다. 결과: 후면 디자인이 비구면인 렌즈를 착용한 난시가 없는 피검자의 경우 1번(19.35%),2번 (58.06%) 윤부의 경우 래그 량은 각각 1.60±0.09mm, 1.60±0.18mm이었고 Push-up test 는 40.00±8.01%, 43.00±16.70%로 측정되었으며 3번(12.90%),4번(9.68%) 윤부는 래그 량이 1.55±0.09mm, 1.48±0.03mm이었고 Push-up test 50%, 51±2.89%로 1,2번 윤부보다 상대적으로 가파르게 피팅되었다. 후면디자인이 비구면인 렌즈를 착용한 난시가 있는 피검자의 경우 1번(21.43%) 윤부의 경우 래그 량이 1.65±0.32mm이며 Push-up test는 41.00±21.37%였고 2번(28.57%) 윤부는 래그 량이 1.56±0.16mm, Push-up test는 50.6±11.48%이었다. 3번(28.57%),4번(21.43%) 윤부는 래그 량이 각각 1.48±0.09mm, 1.51±0.20mm이었고 Push-up test는 53.13±5.94%, 48±13.30%이었다. 따라서 1,2번 윤부보다 상대적으로 가파르게 피팅되었다. 축의 회전양은 1번 윤부가 6.67±9.83°로 제일 크게 회전하였으며 2번 윤부는 5.56±6.13°이었다. 3, 4번 윤부는 각각 5.00±4.28°, 3.50±5.09° 순으로 회전되었다. 결론: 1,2,3,4번 윤부 형태에서 모두 이상적으로 피팅 되었지만, 1,2번의 완만한 윤부 형태에 비해서 3,4번의 급격한 윤부 형태에서 상대적으로 가파르게 피팅 되었고, 토릭 소프트렌즈의 회전량도 상대적으로 더 작게 측정되었다. 따라서 각막 윤부의 종류에 따라 콘택트렌 즈의 후면디자인이 피팅 상태에 영향을 주며 콘택트렌즈 피팅에 있어서 도움이 될 수 있는 추가적인 요소로 사료된다.

        Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify effect of visiting nursing simulationbased training for community nursing. Methods: Participants for this study were 56 nursing college students in Busan. Data were collected and measured for the general characteristics, students’ responses regarding simulation experience, students’ self-assessment, self-confidence, and problem solving ability. Results: In nursing college students, the scenario experience in community - based nursing simulation training was the most lacking communication area with the subject, so it was necessary to supplement it. The experience of the visiting nursing simulation scenario showed satisfactory results in all areas. The confidence of the nursing college students after learning the simulation training was 7.6 points out of ten. As a result of comparing the degree of problem solving ability before and after the simulation training, the degree of problem solving ability of the nursing college students after the training was increased compared to before the simulation training. Conclusion: Simulation training before clinical practice contributes to improvement of nursing assessment, performance, confidence and problem solving ability. Through simulation training, students will be able to provide qualitative nursing care and coping with problems from an integrated perspective.

Drawing on recent theoretical discussions that focus on the unsettled borderline between realism and modernism, this paper explores the nature of the intertextual and historical relationships between Joyce and Trevor.

        Fuel pump of a vehicle is a device to supply the fuel from fuel tank to engine. This study analyzed the pulsatility on the shape of fuel supply pipe using a CFD(Computational Fluid Dynamics). Numerical analysis was performed to use 3-dimensional incompressible k-ε turbulent model with measured pressure values at an exit by an experiment. Simulation models used commercial and improved model. In this study, the characteristics of the pulsatility reduced in improved model compared to those in commercial model. The pressure loss, which occurs at the flexure, was effective to pulsatile reduction. Commercial and improved model differed by numbers of flexure. The number of flexure between inlet and outlet decreased the difference of velocity and pressure. Therefore, the design of fuel supply pipe should be considered numbers and shape of flexure.

        This article is based on the observation of <Braille Painting·Munja(Character) Painting>, an educational program for the culturally underprivileged people for the first half of 2013 by the National Folk Museum of Korea, and provides observation and analysis of the process how the visually challenged people experience and apprehend traditional art through the museum’s education program that focuses on Hyoje Munjado(character painting), traditional Korean folk painting. The <Braille Painting·Munja(Character) Painting> program helped the attendees with visual disability to learn about the folk painting, Hyoje Munjado, exhibited in the museum, and re-interpret and visualize the meaning of eight characters of Hyo Je Choong Shin Ye Ui Yeom Chi (filial piety, brotherly love, loyalty, sincerity, etiquette, fidelity, integrity, and shame) based on one’s unique experience, and create an art work of their own. This program was distinct as it allowed those with visual disability to learn about the ethics and culture of the Chosun society through the contents of Hyoje Munjado, while at the same time helped them experience the process of art creation by making an art work of one’s own. Hyoje Munjado is a special type of painting in which eight Chinese characters of Hyo Je Choong Shin Ye Ui Yeom Chi, the key ethical virtues of the Chosun society, were written and old sayings and figures are symbolized and drawn into the strokes in the eight Chinese characters. The ethical virtues expressed in the painting are still considered socially important and the program attendees can understand the meaning of the Hyoje Munjado reflected in their life and create their own munjado based on such contextual understanding. The program demonstrates how suitable a contextual understanding from constructivism perspective is in the exhibition and education of museums for the museum visitors with diverse cultural background, knowledge, and environment as well as the visually challenged. Furthermore, the program clearly indicates the effects of a constructivism education that creates a new meaning through a contextual interpretation of experiences in the education for the visually challenged. Although the program started out of an exploration into how to enable those with visual disability experience art, it also appears to be effective in allowing people with rare access to art and history of art experience art in their daily life experience.

        백두산은 역사시대에 다수의 분화 기록이 있으며, 2002년도에 불안정한 전조를 나타내었다. 지질조사 결과 백두산에서는 플리니안 분화로 인하여 강하화산재 발생 후 분연주의 붕괴로 화쇄류가 발생한 것이 인지되므로, 특정 분화구로부터 소규모 분화에 의한 화쇄류의 영향 범위에 대하여 시뮬레이션 하였다. 화산폭발지수(VEI) 3 이하의 분화가 발생하여 분연주의 붕괴에 의하여 화쇄류가 발생하면 칼데라 외륜산으로부터 백두산 사면을 따라 최대 7 km까지 영향을 미칠 것으로 해석되었으며, 칼데라 내의 분화구에 의한 분연주 발생 시 대부분이 칼데라 내부에 퇴적되거나, 흘러넘칠 경우에는 주로 북쪽 이도백하 상류 계곡에 두껍게 퇴적될 것으로 파악된다.

        The purpose of this paper is to examine the foundation and subsequent reconstruction years of Unsoo-sa Daeoong-jeon in Busan, especially based on the five records of this building. Moreover, this paper aims to analyze the possibility of the architectural type changes by comparison with nearby Buddhist buildings. The results of this study are summarized as follows. First, Unsoo-sa Daeoong-jeon was built in 1655. Afterward, it had been repaired through five times, but most members of it's wood-framework were found to had been prepared and constructed in 1655. Second, such as the gongpo type, roof type, module system, intercolumnar distance and proportion of intercolumnar distance and column-height, the architectural type of this building is similar to nearby Sinhung-sa Daekwang-jeon. This was because the identical monk-craftsmen carried out the many constructions of nearby temples with their architectural skills at the same period. Third, in particular, the style and created-time of the front gongpos are different from those of the rear gongpos. That is why the front gongpos were replaced when Unsoo-sa Daeoong-jeon was reconstructed in 1771.
