In the tanker industry, there are a lot of uncertain conditions that tanker companies have to deal with.For example, the global financial crisis and economic recession, the increase of bunker fuel prices and global climate change. Such conditions have forced tanker companies to change tankers speed from full speed to slow speed, extra slow speed and super slow speed. Due to such conditions, the objective of this paper is to present a methodology for determining vessel speeds of tankers that minimize the cost of the vessels under such conditions. The four levels of vessel speed in the tanker industry will be investigated and will incorporate a number of uncertain conditions. This will be done by developing a scientific model using a rule-based Bayesian reasoning method. The proposed model has produced 96 rules that can be used as guidance in the decision making process. Such results help tanker companies to determine the appropriate vessel speed to be used in a dynamic operational environmental.
In this paper, rheological characteristics of Metal Injection Moulding (MIM) feedstock using locally binder of palm stearin are presented. The feedstock consisted of 316L-grade stainless steel powder with three different particle sizes and the binders comprise palm stearin and polyethylene. The viscosity of MIM feedstock at different temperatures and shear rates was measured and evaluated. Results showed that, the feedstock containing palm stearin exhibited suitable rheological properties and suitable to produce a homogeneous feedstock that is favorable for injection molding process.
This research is a literacy study regarding the implementation and management of the economic role of haria as a new strategy in overcoming the problem of the global financial crisis that has hit the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic. The research method comes from previous studies to compare the capitalist, socialist, and sharia economic systems. In response to various economic uncertainties, both internal and external, the ability to seize opportunities and transform has become the key to economic resilience. Islamic economics can be an alternative in responding to the dynamics of the global and national economy. Several things need to be taken into consideration in fulfilling the sharia economy and the primary strategy chosen must come from the inputs given by the stakeholders, including business actors, associations, regulators as well as experts, and academicians. The primary strategy in implementing the sharia economy also requires the support of various parties in order to develop sustainability. Strengthening regulation and governance is one of the fundamental factors. Optimization of the sharia economy based social sector such as Zakat, Infaq, Sadaqah, and Waqaf can be optimized both for collection and distribution so that the concept of sharing can certainly support the development and the economy both nationally and globally.
This research focuses on the importance of corporate social responsibility in building the company’s reputation. Experts have studied CSR as an antecedent of a company’s reputation, but the mechanisms underlying this process are rarely explored. Therefore, to fill this research gap, we demonstrate CSR’s implementation combined with organizational justice based on discrepancy and equity theory. This study involved 210 employees in a family company. The study’s analysis method uses Structural Equation Model (SEM), SmartPLS, with a five-step measurement and analysis procedure. The variables in this study are CSR implementation, organizational justice, employee trust, firm reputation, organizational objectiveness, organizational commitment, job satisfaction, and job performance. The results found that some of the direct relationships stated were not significant, but all demonstrations of indirect links were substantial. Besides, optimal CSR and organizational justice provide a reliable and positive domino effect in increasing the role and consequences of employee trust and firm reputation. The findings in this study confirm that upstream-downstream job performance causality can be successfully achieved if job satisfaction has been realized, job satisfaction can be achieved if organizational commitment can also be recognized, and organizational commitment can be developed. Reflection and influence, rather than organizational attractiveness becomes essential.
The objective of this study is to examine and provide guidelines for regional governments, communities, and the private sector in planning and implementing poverty-reduction activities that are more effective, efficient, and targeted. Besides, this research’s specific aims are: 1) increasing the rate of regional economic growth through optimization of potential sources of local income, 2) increasing per-capita income, and 3) reducing poverty, unemployment, and social-economic inequality of the community. The study was conducted in North Morowali District, Central Sulawesi Province, Indonesia, in 2018-2019. The research approach used quantitative and qualitative descriptive analysis. Data sources include sources from the Focus Group Discussion (FGD) and Regional Statistics. The results of this study are based on the Millennium Development Goals (MDG’s) indicators that there are four priority scales in poverty reduction, namely, Health and Infrastructure (Priority I), Education (Priority II), Food stability (Priority III), and Population and Employment (Priority IV). Therefore, as a solution to poverty alleviation strategies, the cost approach through regional economic optimization and local income sources and community empowerment factors are essential. Apart from that, the involvement between elements (government, organizations, society, universities, and institutions) is expected to continue as an effort to realize poverty reduction can be optimally overcome.
This study aims to analyze and confirm brand awareness’ role in influencing the repurchase intention both directly and indirectly on customer satisfaction variables and repurchase intention variables. The contribution brought by this study is to reflect manifest variables such as recall, purchase, and consumption. The number of respondents in this study was 200 samples using the online survey data collection method (Google form), while the research approach is quantitative explanatory. The data analysis test tools include the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) approach with AMOS as a statistical data analysis software and Sobel test to indirectly test the relationship. This study consists of four hypotheses, of which three hypotheses are positively and significantly related (brand awareness on repurchase intention, brand awareness on customer satisfaction, and customer satisfaction on repurchase intention). Through indirect relationship, namely, brand awareness on repurchase intention through customer satisfaction, the study showed no significant effect. In a comprehensive way, this study emphasizes the factor of customer satisfaction as a determinant of consumer loyalty and repurchase intention. Therefore, creating optimal customer satisfaction, service excellence, promotion and massive advertising, guaranteeing the safety and ease-of-use apps, and ease of shopping, especially for e-commerce industry, is a serious concern.
This study sees a critical gap in the previous body of research, which it seeks to fill; the disclosure of the unemployment ratio correlation has only been measured by the level of economic growth. This study is to add investment variables and government expenditure variables that objectively aim to measure the level of effectiveness in handling the unemployment ratio, which is then a measurement of the effectiveness of unemployment. Economic growth is measured by its impact on income inequality through empirical, conceptual relationships as a critical review and economic strategy for the future. The research uses secondary data on Indonesian macro and microeconomics since 2003-2018, then testing uses a quantitative approach to correlation, regression, and scatterplot. The results of this study show correlations between variables, and volatiles on the graphs show a similar trend. In other words, variables are bound together and support each other. The strategy of prioritizing the scale of government expenditure and investment to reach the target is the primary concern, so that the economic cycle can be optimal and equipped to face the possibility of an economic recession in the future. Many factors cause complex income inequality, though investment does not show a correlation to income inequality.
The purpose of this study is to provide benefits and ethically-rooted managerial implications based on theoretical underpinnings through an empirical study using correlation between wages, bank credit, government expenditure on economic growth, and employment via a case study in Indonesia. Besides that, managerial implications strive to provide benefits to the government regarding the importance of establishing effective and pro-development regulations to realize economic growth and employment through the efficient role of wages, bank credit, and government spending. This study uses secondary macroeconomic data from the period 2010-2019 with analysis using the correlation test with the Pearson correlation method. Out of eight hypotheses tested, two hypotheses do not have a significant correlation. The details of the statistical results obtained the following correlations: the correlation between bank credit and wages has a significant, but indirect (negative) correlation. However, the correlation between bank credit and economic growth has a direct and significant (positive) correlation. Government expenditure correlates positively with wages, but correlates negatively with bank credit. Wages are positively correlated with economic growth, but have no significant effect on employment. Finally, economic growth has a positive correlation with government expenditure, but does not have a significant correlation with employment.
This study aims to develop the concept of innovation models with the marketing channel construct approach, marketing innovation, product segmentation, and customer insight; as well as improvements to the theory of resource-based combined with the method of service-dominant logic. This study approach is based on quantitative descriptive conducted with three stages of testing scenarios. The first test is the mapping of the innovation model construct through testing the validity and reliability with the moderation of customer orientation variables. The second scenario examines the relationship of influence between the independent variables on the dependent variable of 29 hypothetical analysis equation modeling. The unit of analysis was conducted on 497 SMEs involved in the food and beverage sectors, with the criteria being SMEs must have a rating of 4-5 points on the Go-Food applications software. The results shown that: 1) the construct used to develop an innovative model both directly and via moderation is positive and significant; 2) Through a complicated relationship that involves all components of the variable, it outlines a positive and significant effect except for the path of analysis (μ5). The theoretical and managerial implications state that the service-dominant logic approach and resource-based view theory have extreme reliability and interrelations.
The study aims to develop concepts originating through empirical research models to build superior competitiveness and optimal performance achievement. Therefore, to bridge these goals, the study addresses several indicators/items as a novelty, namely, entrepreneurship insight factors, market orientation, knowledge-sharing, innovation, managerial capability, product strategy, process and service improvement, resources capability to improve performance and increase competitiveness by empirical model direct, mediating and indirect effect. The total sample in this study is 497 eligible SMEs that partner with go-food in Makassar City. All research samples are the owner or the person in charge of the business; the data collection period is from May to December 2019. Data are collecting using a survey with 64 construct questions, summarized in seven manifest variables. The research method uses quantitative tools, with SMART-PLS as a statistical tool. This study develops sixteen hypotheses; all of the hypotheses are supported both directly, indirectly, and mediated. The study also found that the link based on CCT, RBV, and TAM Theory is the right choice of theories, as the foundation of this study was very reliable and valid. Indeed, all of the grounded methods have implications both in theory and its main application for the business in the online marketplace.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the economic potential of the regions from the mining sector of North Morowali, Central- Sulawesi, Indonesia, and the formulation of pro-business regional development management that aims to create synergy between the local government and mining sector entrepreneurs. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach by taking data in the form of primary data from FGD and secondary data observations from statistical bureau data in the North Morowali, Indonesia. The analysis unit uses SWOT analysis to determine the economic potential of the North Morowali and Location Quotient (LQ) to analyze the economic potential of the mining sector. The research period covers one year (2018-2019) in North Morowali, Indonesia. All the mining products have considerable potential as a financing unit in North Morowali, while mining potential has not been maximally exploited. The absence of regulations, facilities such as road access, and optimal land and sea transportation are the causes of the difficulty of optimization and access to explore mining products comprehensively. As a new province at Central Sulawesi, more efforts and the role of government are needed to focus attention to North Morowali as an area with great potential in the mining sector.
The purpose of this study is to investigate and reconfirm the research instruments and variables that have been developed by prior study and built new concepts from empirical research results. Besides analyzing the essential role of fundamental, rational, and psychology aspects to increase employee’s intention to stay in a company, which is useful for the development of human resource development strategies for millennial workers in the future. A total of 438 non-student male respondents aged 23-36 years, with unmarried status and not working in the SOE sector or as a civil servant, were surveyed with questionnaires. The study was conducted in Makassar, Indonesia. Data collection uses a survey with the second-order model approach and regression with control variables. The findings of this study suggest the existence of an inter-relationship between fundamental, rational and psychological aspects. They are inseparable and have a positive and significant influence. Broadly speaking, the link between fundamental, psychology and rational aspects states that the decision for millennial male workers to stay in the company will depend on whether the company has a good image and reputation, the level of attention the organization pays to career development, is competent, and applies regulations and rules with flexibility.
This study analyzes the strategy of determining economic development planning on SME improvement in Indonesia. A qualitative approach was conducted through interview questionnaires with twenty respondents, including sixteen Regional Apparatus Work Unit, Fisheries and Marine Office lecturers, subdistrict heads, and development observers. The method used is Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP). AHP prioritizes criteria and sub-criteria to increase economic growth, reduce poverty, and increase community participation, while indicating the sub-criteria to optimize resource potential, strengthen micro-economy, develop tourism potential, utilize fishery potential and cultivation, and improve institutional performance. The AHP weighting results based on competitiveness and regional development of Bantaeng Regency is the priority in policy-making for a solution. The research shows that the government strategy, based on the perception of the stakeholders, is: optimizing resources strategy with priority to maximize the resource-carrying capacity that includes agriculture and farm, tourism development potential strategy, self-reliance of community groups and coaching and management. Strategies to strengthen micro economy include: industrial control, SMEs, community cooperatives and infrastructure improvements, strategies to improve institutional performance work capacity and work ethic, and strategies to utilize fisheries and cultivation potential technological development, provision of processed industries of fishery products, and improvement of the quality of the environment.
This study aims to analyze the effect of structural Person-Organization Fit and organizational justice on organizational commitment, job satisfaction, Organizational Citizenship Behavior and employee performance. This study is based on a quantitative approach by collecting data using a survey conducted on three SOE’s companies in Indonesia that operate in Makassar City, namely Pelindo. Ltd (Port Company), PLN. Ltd (Electric Company) and Pertamina. Ltd (Oil and Gas Company), with a sample of 90 employees. The study population was all non-managerial permanent employees. Data analysis using Structural Equation Modeling. In structural relations, out of the nine direct tests, there were two insignificant relationships, and in all three hypotheses there was one not-supported hypothesis. When compared between person-organization Fit and Organizational Justice, it is found that organizational justice has a more critical role in building Human Resource performance compared to Person-Organization Fit, because organizational justice is better able to provide job satisfaction and make organizational commitment and OCB as a prerequisite for its formation to better Human Resources performance. With organizational justice, employees will feel more satisfied working, committed to the work and organization, and behaves as a supportive organizational citizen for the realization of the best performance for the interests of the organization going forward.
This study aims to explore the role of Khan's engagement dimension previous study in mediating the relationship between work-life balance and in-role and extra-role performance of salesforce. To measure the data, a quantitative approach conducted through a survey of the sales force in the financial services industry sector in Makassar City, Indonesia. We determine the sample by using purposive sampling technique, and a total of 188 salesforce respondents. SEM-PLS with the second-order model was applied to test the measurement model and the mediator role of the engagement. The results show that the engagement dimension fully mediates the effect of work-life balance on both in-role and extra-role performance direct or indirect effect. the findings in this study also address the great concern of both individuals and organizations that the antecedents of the work-life balance variable are fundamental reasons for improving performance. The results of this study indicate that the worklife balance program positively influences engagement. Overall, we can conclude that commitment not only serves as a means for employees to fulfill formal job requirements. This can also encourage them to take action that goes beyond the precise requirements of their work by presenting them physically, emotionally, and cognitively in the work environment.
The issue of health risks from consuming unhealthy product is an important issue that is happening right now. Both developed and developing countries are already aware of the need for attention to the health-risk products. One tool that is believed to be able to change the consumption behavior of the health-risk products is the use of warning label on product packaging. As a persuasive act, both visual and textual warning label are believed to be able to change people's consumption behavior. In addition to the labels that contain health hazards, this research also uses social consequence contents. The main targets of such unhealthy product marketing are children and adolescents. Correspondingly, this study targets the age groups of kids and tweens. The method used in this research is experiment, involving 180 participants from two age groups namely kids and tweens. As a result, the study found that the influence of warning label on the age of tweens is greater in the age of the children. Meanwhile, the use of visual and textual warning label using social consequences contents, proved to be effective at the age of tweens. These results are useful for enrich social marketing subjects, especially within warning label research.
Purpose - Usage of E-services is critical for businesses to maximize work efficiency and gain competitive advantage. The aim of the study is to explore how awareness of technology and e-services usage in an emerging economy in Pakistan. The studies aimed to explore as to what extent these factors can potentially motivate transport employees towards e-services; who are generally not aware about technology and hence also not confident in using it also.
Research design, data, and methodology - Employees from the three transport subsidiary units from a large private company in Pakistan were sampled for the study. Through using self-administered technique, the questionnaires were distributed during the month of April, 2016 to 189 employees. A total of 150 responses were taken further for analysis where the study found a positive link between awareness of technology and e-services usage.
Results - This study found positive relationship between intention to use and e-service usage among the employees of three subsidiary units. The paper has reported 30 percent variance explained by the predicting variables in relation with e-services usage.
Conclusions - Employees could be motivated to use e-services and latest technology through enhancing their awareness about their respective importance and viability. Accordingly, organizations can foster employees’ intentions to use to enhance e-service usage.
Purpose - The aim of this article is to outline the concept of work engagement and the importance of job resources including supervisor support and coworker support pertaining to work engagement.
Research Design, Data, and Methodology - The article discusses the concept of work engagement and what empirical evidences suggest about its relationship with job resources including supervisor and coworker support.
Result - Critical review of the literature has indicated towards strengths and pitfalls of social support resources including supervisor and coworker at work, particularly with regards to work engagement thus, requiring further empirical attention. Accordingly, the article has also indicated towards the critical significance of meaningful work for fostering employee well-being at work.
Conclusions - The article has highlighted noteworthy empirical gaps in the body of knowledge concerning to job resources including supervisor support and coworker support and their relationship with work engagement. The article has also underlined the lack of research and potential of ‘meaningful work’ towards enhancing work engagement as well as, acting as a moderator between supervisor support, coworker support and work engagement relationship.
