        This research is to investigate the cooling performance analysis of the heat sinks for LED light with four different fin types and two different fin numbers (16EA and 64EA) of heat sinks. Temperature distributions of fins over the flow domain are numerically calculated for the optimum design of heat sink fin types with uniform initial temperature of the bottom of the fins. According to the calculations of convective heat transfer coefficient between fin and atmosphere in the flow domain, S-curve fin type of heat sinks with 64EA of fins reveals the highest cooling performance of the heat sink fin types in the present cooling heat sink model.

        A three dimensional numerical analysis was performed to study the cooling performance of xEV battery module depending on cooling fluid inlet position. Depending on the inlet position from the top, case 1 (top inlet), case 2 (middle inlet), and case 3 (bottom inlet) are selected. For the case 1, the temperature of the battery near inlet was higher than that of the battery near outlet. For the case 2 and 3 the temperature of the battery near inlet was lower than that of the battery near outlet. From the analysis result, the cooling performance is higher in the order of case 2, case 3, and case 1.

        This analytical work was performed to reveal the effect of inlet geometry of battery pack on the temperature distributions and flow stream line for a electric vehicle. To achieve this, standard k-ε model with wall function was applied and the working conditions of battery pack under different air flow rate and inlet area according to the geometry were estimated. It was revealed that as inlet area was smaller, the flow velocity was faster, and it can't cover the whole area of battery module. In case of two inlet case, the cooling efficiency of air flow is less than that of one inlet case because of low flow rate.

        A new plate heat exchanger for water-refrigeration systems such as chillers has been developed. Before forming, two stainless steel plates are placed on each other and connected by tig welding. To outline of the plate did the seam welding, in order to form the flow pass on the plate inside the spot welding used. After the plates have been welded, the plates are hydraulically inflated using pressure by water or nitrogen.The plate is made of an SUS plate of 1m×2m in length and 1.2mm in thickness and are fixed in the top of the water tank.As a result of these, it is concluded that the plate exhibits good cooling performance and the average cooling capacity is approximately 2.9RT/plate and the average coefficient of performance (COP) of chiller system is 3.16.

        We have tested the performance of the Proto-model of Space Infrared Cryogenic System (PSICS), which is a small infrared camera, developed by Korea Astronomy and Space science Institute (KASI), Korea Basic Science Institute (KBSI), Korea Institute of Machinery and Materials (KIMM), and i3system co., as a cooperation project. The purpose of PSICS is to ensure a technology of small infrared cryogenic system for future development of space infrared (IR) cameras. PSICS consists of cryogenic part, IR sensor and electronics part, and optical part. The performance test of each part and the integrated system has been completed successfully. PSICS will be used as a guiding camera for ground-based IR telescopes and a test system for developing a space-borne instrument.

        별도의 엔진 구동형 소형 패키지 해수냉각시스템을 개발하기 위하여 압축기 회전수와 냉각수 유량 및 온도, 냉수 유량을 파라미터로 장치의 운전 특성을 파악한 결과 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. (1) 압축기 회전수와 증발기의 냉수 및 응축기의 냉각수 유량이 증가할수록 장치의 냉동능력은 증가하였으며, 압축기 회전수 및 냉각수 온도가 증가할수록 구동엔진의 연료소비량도 증가하였다. (2) 압축기 회전수와 냉각수 및 냉수의 유량이 증가할수록 냉각시스템의 성능계수는 증가하였으며, 냉각수 온도 및 압축기 회전수가 감소함에 따라서는 감소하였다. (3) 별도 엔진 구동용 소형 해수냉각장치 개발 및 운전조건 변화에 따른 시스템의 특성과 운전조건변화의 상관 관계를 파악할 수 있었으며, 시스템의 상용화 설계를 위한 기초자료를 얻을 수 있었다.

        The purpose of this study is analyzing the performance of sea water cooling system under various refrigerant pipe length. In sea water cooling system, the increase of refrigerant pipe length cause increases of pressure drops. These pressure drops cause fresh gas in liquid pipe and increase specific volume in gas pipe outlet, so sea water cooling system capacity is decreased by decrease of refrigerant mass flow rate. Sea water cooling system capacity in refrigerant pipe length 70m is decreased more than 30% when compared with pipe length 10m and the decrease of the coefficient of performance is nearly 20%.
