Pil-Hwan Lee. 2003. A Historical Study on English Negative Expressions - with Special Reference to the Methodology in English Historical Syntax. Studies in Modern Grammar 31, 107-136. This is a study on the changes in sentential negation in English, from Old English to the present day, in terms of Jespersen`s(1917) Negative Cycle. The Negative Cycle is an assumption that negative adverbs are depleted lexical meaning they undergo phonological and morphosyntactic reduction to a bound morpheme prefixed to the finite verb. The history of English clearly supports this assumption. The issue is how to explain these aspects of changes. van Kemenade(1997a, 1997c, 1999, 2000) tries to account for the history of English sentential negation as a pure case of morphosyntactic change. It means that the change was triggered by structural factors. However, it is argued in this paper that the triggering factor for the change is the weakening of meaning. In other words, negative adverbs are morphologically and syntactically weakened to negative head status due to the semantic bleaching of negation and to the overlapping function in expressing sentential negation in NegP. The two positions in NegP inherently presuppose the functional redundancy in expressing sentential negation, so the specifier of NegP is generally weakened to Neg˚.

인터넷의 이용환경이 유선에서 무선으로 바꿔지면서 이동통신 단말기에 탑재한 모바일 게임이 눈에 띄게 발전하고 있다. 모바일 게임은 이동성에 있어서 매우 자유롭고 사용자의 계층도 매우 다양하여 여러 조건하에서 사전 테스트를 할 필요가 있다. 모바일 게임의 사용 환경별 테스트 방법론을 조사하여 체계화시키는 일은 모바일 게임 사용자의 불만을 사전에 확인하고 피해갈 수 있는 게임의 기능을 추가하거나 개선하는데 많은 도움을 줄 것이다. 이동통신 단말기의 내장형 게임부터 실시간으로 접속해서 원격사용자들끼리 게임을 하는 네트워크 게임까지 테스트에 관한 방법론을 정리하였다.

본 연구는 개선된 한국형 도로용량편람 작성 작업의 일환으로 고속도로 연결로 접속부에 대한 분석방법에 관해 검토한 것으로 1992년에 작성된 우리나라의 도로용량편람(92KHCM)과 최근에 발표된 미국의 도로용량편람(USHCM2000)의 분석방법론을 비교 검토하여 국내에서의 적용가능성을 타진하고 최적의 분석방법을 정립하고자 하였다 이를 위해 본 연구의 대상구간을 설정하고 기존 방법론을 이용하여 현장 관측치와 비교 평가한 후 수집된 자료들을 분석토록 하였다. 자료의 수집 및 분석 결과 접속차로 1개만을 고려한 92KHCM의 경우 평가에 사용된 모형식에 의한 추정치와 실제 관측치가 다소 차이를 보였으나 접속차로 2개를 고려한 2000USHCM 의 경우 계산치와 관측치가 거의 일치함을 알 수 있었다. 이를 통해 2000USHCM에서의 분석방법론이 보다 합리적인 면이 많이 내포되어 있음을 확인 할 수 있었다. 또한 서비스 수준의 판정기준으로 영향권의 밀도가 사용되어 졌으며 이전의 속도에 비해 교통량의 증가에 따른 민감도가 우수함을 알 수 있었다. 본 연구에서의 분석대상 구간은 독립적인 합류부에 국한하였으나 추후 본 연구는 보다 광범위한 자료의 수집을 통해 연속적인 분류 합류 연결로 접속부에 대한 연구로 확대가 되어야 할 것으로 판단된다

The human error or error involved with human is still the major portion of the causes of marine casualties and attracting a great concern in ship operation. However, there are not so many researches conducted to investigate or develop methodologies for analyzing such causes of human error in maritime industry, which may be caused by the variety of factors affecting the performance of ship operation and the characteristics of human being. This paper aims to study the methodologies used in investigating human factors or errors in maritime field through the investigation of researches performed so far. The methodology for human factors can be usually classified into one of three types; descriptive studies, experimental research and evaluation research. Also there are many different kinds of applied researches for some specific subjects. Prior to the investigation of the root cause of marine accident related with human error, clear concept of the human factors and systematic taxonomy shall be established. Moreover, it is very important considerations in case of casualty inspection on human factors that the inspector on the accident shall have adequate knowledges, understandings on the concept of human factors including the way of research more than those of methodologies and techniques.

Han, Sang Woo. 1999. How to Approach Old English Syntactic Structure. Studies in Modern Grammar 17, 179-190. The aim of this paper is to show (a) that both the SOVI hypothesis and the double underlying structure hypothesis have some problems in the explanation of Old English syntactic structure, and (b) that in studying Old English syntactic structure, we must put our eyes on existing Old English manuscripts more than before. Old English was a language in the mist of a change from SOV to SVO word order. Therefore, we cannot approach Old English with current synchronic linguistic theories only. Finally I would like to emphasize the importance of studying Old English manuscripts in advance to modern linguistic theory, and propose a SIOV underlying structure with a leftward verb- movement rule to explain various types of Old English word orders.

Now, the conservation policy of historic environments in Korea which started in early 1980's, is in a danger. In addition, because of economic crisis started last year, the concerns for historic environments are growing weaker. However, this situation can be a good opportunity to prepare for the coming conservation works, The purpose of this study is to find clues for conservation of historic environments by considering foreign precedents. For concrete results, this study selects historic rural settlements as a case and focuses on the relationship among related people in the light of the their rights. Based on the consideration of foreign precedents, three different characters in the conservation process could be identified compared with korean cases; 1) Except partial works of public sector, generally the conservation process is under the control of nonprofit groups and residents themselves, 2) Conservation methods include with the proper change process for the sustainable settlement, and avoid the unconditional past-oriented approach, 3) Conservation methods are composed of not only the preservation of external forms such as assets but also the continuous participation and management of the community. And the most important clue which has been extracted is that the diverse rights of related people in the historic rural settlements should be kept in balance thoroughly.

As a initial methodological approach to rational land use planning in the county-level area, three types of land suitability classification techniques were examined from the viewpoint of their practical applicability through the case study of Seungju-gun area, Chonnam-province, Korea : major factors' criteria(method I ), principal component analysis( I ), and local monitoring( R( ). Each method has its strong and weak points as shown in Tab.-5. Therefore, when its practical application, there seem to be wide-range methodological selectivities from exclusive use of the best one to intermethodological combination of related ones In the beginning stage, intermethodological combination of all three types were tried to formulate the best solution possible. However, because of reliability problem of method R accrued from non- uniformity of evaluators'quality, only two methods( 1 , E ) were combined into a new evaluation method The applied results of the new combined method to case study area are shown in Fig.-2, 3 and 4.
