        In order to commercialize large diameter PP pipes, the cutting work was attempted with the cutting machine (∅18″and AL120 cutter, 2100 r.p.m) used for the conventional PE or PVC pipe(∅1200 mm, t 70), but the cutting work was failed because the material of “PP pipe” melted and sticked to the surface of the wheel-cutter. In order to find the optimal structure and number of blades for wheel-cutters, an experimental investigation the temperature measurement of specimen and wheel-cutter and the visualization of cutted specimen surface and chip shape were carried out during and after experiment. In addition, modelings for cutting and heat transfer mechanisms have been developed for theoretical analysis. The theoretical and experimental results were in good agreement. The results show that the appropriate structure and the rotational speed of wheel-cutter are W60 and 650 rpm for the large diameter PP pipe cutting machine.

        The CNC machine tool field is showing a growing trend with the recent rapid development of manufacturing industries such as semiconductors, automobiles, medical devices, various inspection and test equipment, mechanical metal processing equipment, aircraft, shipbuilding and electronic equipment. However, small and medium-sized machining companies that use CNC machine tools are experiencing difficulties in increasingly intense competition. Especially, small companies which are receiving orders from 3rd or 4th venders are very difficult in business management. In recent years, company S experienced difficulty to make product quality and delivery time due to the ignorance of the processing method when manufacturing cooling plate jig made of SUS304 material used for cell phone liquid crystal glass processing. In order to solve these problems, we redesigned the process according to the size of our company and tried to manage all processes with quantified data. In the meantime, we have found that there is a need to improve the cutter process, which accounts for most of the machining process. Therefore, we have investigated the correlation between RPM and FEED of three cutters that have been used in the past. As a result, we found that it is the most urgent problem to solve the roughing process during the cutter operation which occupies more than 70% of the total machining. In order to shorten the machining time and improve the quality in machining of SUS304 cooling plate jig, we select the main factors such as price, tool life, maintenance cost, productivity, quality, RPM, and FEED and use AHP to find the most suitable milling cutter. We also tried to solve the problem of delivery, quality and production capacity which was a big problem of S company through experiment operation with selected cutter tool. As a result, the following conclusions were drawn. First, the most efficient of the three cutters currently available in the machining center has proven to be an M-cutter. Second, although one additional facility was required, it was possible to produce the existing facilities without additional investment by supplementing the lack of production capacity due to productivity improvement. Third, the Company’s difficulties in delivery and capacity shortfalls have been resolved. Fourth, annual sales increased by KRW 109 million and profits increased by KRW 32 million annually. Fifth, it can confirm the usefulness of AHP method in corporate decision making and it can be utilized in various facility investment and process improvement in the future.

        In this paper, heat treatment on the cutting device for automatic welding electrode is proposed. The electrode can be fed continuously by general automatic welding. When the leading end of wire is bent, it must be cut with the constant length. The wire has been cut by manual method previously but the automatic cutter device is proposed and designed in this study. These new device parts are designed and the heat treatment of cutter is determined analytically. The numerical three-dimensional analysis is carried out by means of DEFORMTM-HT, the common heat-treatment software. The meshes are divided with tetrahedral elements. As the result, the highest hardness is observed at the end edge of cutter and especially the hardness at edge is reached even HRc 64.3. The layer, 90% of which consists of martensite structure, is extended to the end edge of cutter. And the layer, 50% of which consists of the micro-structure, becomes its middle area. Because the mechanical property can be predicted by this analytical approach, it is not necessary to have any onsite heat treatment. The life of cutter can be improved by using this study result.

        This study is for a pipe cutting apparatus for use in a process of a pipe. The system refers to a novel structure comprised of a main bed, a feeder part and a cutter part. The feeder part is comprised of an AC servo motor unit, a feeding gear unit, a LM guide and a rail. The cutter part is comprised of a blade unit consisting of a blade for cutting, a AC servo motor to rotate the blade unit and a clamp unit to fix the pipe. This study proposes a mechanism of a product by designing the system and analyzes the cutting power. This study will be used as basic data for the design by analyzing the vibration and the structure

        The main milling cutter used for typical arthroplastic surgery robot, ROBODC system is 7.8 mm milling cutter. this cutter was used in case of traditional total knee arthroplasty, but 7.8mm milling cutter is not appropriate for newest surgical technique, MIS(minimally invasive Surgery). Generally, cutting method for MIS is tunnel cutting and cutter of cantilever type and small diameter is must be developed for MIS. Generally, Main problem of cutting system is chattering due to vibration of cutter by rotation and numerical analysis using finite element method was used for identifying chattering problems in this study. shaft length, cutter length, diameter and so on were proposed by axis displacement, stress, strain analysis through numerical analysis.
