        When cooking, especially during processes such as grilling or frying, harmful gases are generated. Among them, fine dust is a major factor causing lung cancer, and to eliminate it, range hoods are commonly used. Particularly, when using portable cooking device like gas stoves, it is even more challenging to remove fine dust. In this study, a cooking device was developed to combine steam and cooled air in the air-curtain area to recover fine dust generated during the cooking process, allowing it to be collected as food. The device was evaluated according to criteria defined independently and validated through experiments. As a result, all criteria were satisfied within the specified range.

        We have developed a DH-PROTO equipment to measure the Unit-Water Content of concrete. In this paper, using an accredited certification HI-330 and developed DH-PROTO to measure the Unit-Water Content, it was evaluated by comparing the measurement stability. In experimental results by using a capacitive equipment DH-PROTO and HI-330, Estimation error of DH-PROTO and HI-330 according to the type of binder is -4.4 to 2.0%, -7.4 to 4.0%, measuring equipment for Unit-Water Content in concrete showed excellent performance in reliability assessment measures. Also, the estimation error according to the type of fine aggregate was appeared to 3.4~10.4 % and 2.8~9.1%, was determined that excellent performance and accuracy levels with it. Thus, it expected to be released as a commercial product through further studies.

        This paper is focused on an optimal design of two degree of freedom (2-DOF) dynamic vibration absorber (DVA) for the simply supported damped beam subject to a harmonic force excitation. In order to achieve this aim, we first show how to define the objective function of optimal design problem for 2-DOF DVA. Second, we apply the cyclic topology-based particle swarm optimization (PSO) to find the optimal design parameters of 2-DOF DVA. Finally, some numerical results are compared with those of conventional researches, which demonstrates a reliability of the proposed design method

        General end-mill is considered and chosen by kinds and properties of material before machining, but in case of orthopedic surgery, cutting performance of orthopedic end-mill must be always best because bone condition is checked after operative preparation including skin incision. Generally hard metal end-mill is used for high cutting performance in industrial fields. To apply hard metal end-mill to robotic orthopedic surgery, prototypes with STS are manufactured and tested for determining proper number of flutes and helix angle, additionally proper overhang length of end-mill from sleeve end was determined by checking deflection under cutting load and critical speed using FEM program. As a result helix angle, blade number and overhang length are determined as 45∘, 3, 7cm respectively.

        Instruments for surgical and dental application based on oscillatory mechanics submit unwanted vibrations to the surgeon's and dentist's hands. frequently the weight of the instrument's body is increased to dampen its vibration. Because medical devices to contact with human body directly are sterilized before use, conventional damping method and damper are not good for medical use. For dissipation of vibration, based on recent research regarding the optimization of particle damping, we made a prototype particle damper that dissipate the vibration of oscillatory saw and tested for validation of particle damping. As a result we found that particle damper operate more efficiently than solid mass damper if the geometry of the damper is optimized with respect to the specific amplitude of the vibration.

        The main milling cutter used for typical arthroplastic surgery robot, ROBODC system is 7.8 mm milling cutter. this cutter was used in case of traditional total knee arthroplasty, but 7.8mm milling cutter is not appropriate for newest surgical technique, MIS(minimally invasive Surgery). Generally, cutting method for MIS is tunnel cutting and cutter of cantilever type and small diameter is must be developed for MIS. Generally, Main problem of cutting system is chattering due to vibration of cutter by rotation and numerical analysis using finite element method was used for identifying chattering problems in this study. shaft length, cutter length, diameter and so on were proposed by axis displacement, stress, strain analysis through numerical analysis.

        Recently, many MEMS manipulator or mechanisms have been developed for application in nanotechnology and optical sensors. In this paper, the method that is measurement and analysis of the motion-ability is introduced for 1 degree of freedom MEMS Manipulator. To do this, the MEMS manipulator is fabricated on the SOI wafer. It is comprised of a parallel bi-lever flexure mechanism and a bent-beam thermal actuator. The flexure mechanism is comprised of an actuator input stage, four lever arms, ten circular flexure hinges, and an output stage. Each flexure hinge provides a point of compliance and acts similar to a rotational joint with an attached rotational spring. These components are significantly stiffer than the flexure hinges, so that they act as rigid bodies in the plane of motion. The static and dynamic parameters of fabricated manipulator are measured and analysis by 3D optical profiling system. It contains a CCD camera, a field-of-view (FOV) lens, a filter assembly, and an illumination source. Light from the illuminator travels through the system and is reflected down to the objective by a beamsplitter. Once the light reaches the objective, another beamsplitter separates the light into two beams. One beam, the reference beam, reflects form a super smooth reference mirror in the objective, while the other reflects form the surface of the sample and back to the objective. With this system, we can measure and analyze the resolution, accuracy, precision, stability and responsibility of MEMS manipulator and it is very useful for fabrication or application of improved manipulator without surface damage.

        In a total hip arthroplasty, the artificial hip joint is composed of an acetabular cup and a femoral head. To minimize the wear of the joint, the bearing surface should be precisely spherical. There were concerns that the press-fitting of the acetabular cup to the pelvis may cause the deformation of the cup and accelerate the wear of the joint, but its in-vivo measurement was challenging. In this paper, 3 dimensional finite element(FE) models of a pelvis and acetabular cups of Metasul 50mm and Pinnacle 50-60mm cups were used to simulate the deformation of the acetabular cups. For Metasul cups, the change of inner radius with respect to the location and the maximum shrinkage of the inner radius were found. For the Pinnacle cups, maximum change of the outer diameter were found and compared with the literature. FE model showed that the maximum shrinkage of the inner radius of the Metasul cup was 23μm (1.0mm press-fit, Bone stiffness 17GPa case). The shrinkage occurred mainly on the anterior and posterior side of rim of the cup, and the amount was proportional to the press-fit amount. The diametric change of the Pinnacle cup was 0.16mm on average, which was in same range of the clinically reported value. In conclusion, under the normal condition the reduction of the inner radius of the Metasul cup was too small to cause the jamming or the excessive wear.

        The multistage double acting oil pressure cylinder can overcome limits of a stroke of cylinder. Development target of the multistage double acting oil pressure cylinder makes a overcome operation distance, in the case of transport of bodies or tension, contraction working. It's structure is composed that fluid flow pipelines are inserted in the cylinder. In the serial arrangement of reciprocating cylinders, the multistage double acting oil pressure cylinder can prevent a buckling or cylinder loss because assemble arrangement is simple type of insertion way. Using the MSC.Visual Nastran, the 3D simulation was executed. Through the 3D simulation, we ascertained that the multistage double acting oil pressure cylinder could be adapted to a elevation system.

        Conventional product development process employs a design-build break philosophy which is sequentially executed product development process. It often results in a prolonged lead-time and a high product cost. This paper proposes the concurrent engineering design approach integrating design process to solve the above problems. The proposed approach in this paper holds potential for shortening the overall product development cycle, improving product quality, and reducing product cost. This paper presents three concepts and methods for product development : (1) considering product performance, quality and cost together in early design stage, (2) supporting design decision-making through a quantitative approach, and (3) incorporating rapid prototyping and virtual prototyping for design verification.
