Within aging rotary painting system for plastic wheel cover, sprayed paint particles caused the quality problem as attached to back surface of the wheel cover by the cyclone vortex in the booth. The purpose of this study is to select the spray conditions to ensure a stable quality of the rotary painting system. For this, simulation for flow characteristics of each spray nozzle have been carried out using ANSYS program, and tested to find the optimum spray condition, such as spray distance, spray pressure and rotation speed by manufactured test apparatus of paint spray. Finally, satisfactory results were obtained by testing with a actual painting system in developed spray conditions.
This study was carried out to assess the covering of 11 Sedum species on an extensive green roof system under the urban climate of South Korea for 2 years. The eleven Sedum species which came up to the criteria were selected: S. acre, S. album, S. kamtschaticum, S. oryzifolium, S. polystichoides, S. reflexum, S. rupestre, S. sarmentosum, S. sexangulare, S. spurium, and S. telephium. The plants were planted in the extensive green roof system with the substrate of porous glass+bark+field soil (v:v:v, 3:2:5) and then evaluated. The covering area of the Sedum species were about 72㎠ at the start after the establishment. When a year had passed since the systems were established, S. acre, S. oryzifolium and S. sexangulare maintained 200-500㎠/plant of covering area and the others maintained 800-1200㎠/plant. Most covering area increased continuously for about two years and showed a large quantity of increment in summer season with the exception of S. kamtschaticum, S. polystichoides, S. sarmentosum, and S. telephium, whose above-parts were not alive in winter.
The objectives of this study were to assess plant growth of the flowering shrub species for adapting to growing on hanging baskets in the vertical greenery system with different cover materials and substrates for low maintenance effectively utilizing rainfall. Water amount taken up by the fabric cover was higher than that by the plastic film cover. Evaporated water amount from the fabric cover was much slower than that from the plastic cover. A higher ratio of hydrophilic polymer to the substrate resulted in higher substrate water content within the same cover material. The relative growth rates of plant height, leaf width and stem diameter were higher when the Cotoneaster horizontal was grown in the vertical greenery system with the fabric cover, whereas the leaf number and survival rate were higher with the plastic film cover. The relative growth rates of plant height, leaf width and leaf number and the survival rate was higher when the Euonymus fortunei ‘Emerald n Gold’ was grown in the vertical greenery system with plastic film cover than those with both fabric cover and hydrophilic polymer treatment. In contrast, the stem diameter of Euonymus fortunei ‘Emerald n Gold’ was higher in the plants grown in the vertical greenery system with the fabric cover at a 1.0% ratio of hydrophilic polymer to substrate than that with plastic film cover. The highest stem diameter of Spiraea × bumalda ‘Gold Mound’ was observed in the plant grown in the vertical greenery system with fabric cover and at a 1.0% ratio of hydrophilic polymer to substrate, while there was no significant difference in the plant height. The leaf number was decreased with increase in the ratio of hydrophilic polymer to substrate, while the leaf width was decreased. The survival rate of Spiraea × bumalda ‘Gold Mound’ was higher than 80% regardless of treatments. In particular, the highest survival rate was observed in the plastic film cover treatment after overwintering.
The protective cover system is needed for the safety and bearing capacity of underground cable pipe. This study evaluates the flexural capacity through the experimental study according to the several design variables for the protective covers.
The pipe system for underground cable can be damaged by shock and corrosion under the various types of upper load. The existing protective systems have many problems because of constructivity and maintenance. Therefore, this study presents the protective system for underground cable pipe and evaluates the field application according to upper load.
Environment-friendly soybean planting system has been being required in the upland field with high slope and heavy rain in summer season. Changes of weed amount and soybean yield by rye cover crop and conservation tillage were investigated. Soil-disturbing at conservation tillage before soybean planting increased numbers and dry weights of weeds germinated in late spring such as Echinochloa crusgalli P. Beauv (barnyardgrass) and Portulaca oleracea L. (common purslane) regardless of herbicide spray even though the weed, Chenopodium ficifolium Smith germinated before soil-disturbing were higher at non-disturbing soil. Higher weed amounts at plots of strip-tillage (30cm rototilling) compared to minimum tillage (10cm rototilling) was mainly due to the weed increase by soil-disturbing. Soybean yields at plots with rye cover crop, particularly early maturity rye cover crop, were lower than those at plots without rye cover crop, which was due to lower soybean seedling stand by heavy rye residue. More researches are required for the higher soybean yield at the minimum tillage with rye cover crop in which weed amounts were low.
