The jewel beetle, Trachy dilaticeps Gebhardt, 1928 has been known to occur in Japan, China, Taiwan, and Vietnam hitherto. This species is typically distributed in Oriental region. In the case of Palaearctic region, it has only been documented in Japan (Kyushu). In this study, we report T. dilaticeps for the first time from Korea, along with its diagnostic characters. Ecological and distributional information is also provided herein.
A new free-living marine nematode species of the genus Belbolla Andrássy, 1973 belonging to the family Enchelidiidae is described based on specimens collected from the sediment of a subtidal benthic environmental habitat in the East Sea, Korea. Belbolla wonkimi sp. nov. differs from its congeners by the combination of the following characteristics: a relatively long body (3263-3396 μm), the absence of ocelli, nine oesophageal bulbs in the posterior pharynx, well-developed two winged precloacal supplements, longer spicule length (115-130 μm, 1.6-1.8 anal body diameter long), and a triangle-shaped shorter gubernacular apophysis (17-18 μm). Comparative tables on the biogeographical and morphological characteristics of Belbolla species are presented. A DIC (differential interference contrast) photomicrograph of the new species is also provided. This is the first taxonomic report on the genus Belbolla from Korean waters.
As mobile shopping has increased in the new media age, fashion consumers’ decision making and product consumption processes have changed. The volume of consumer-driven information has expanded since media and social networking sites have enabled consumers to share information they obtain. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors affecting information searching strategies and information sharing about fashion products. An online survey collected data from 466 respondents, relating to the influence of product price level and consumer SNS commitment level on information search and information sharing. Experimental design of three product price level and two consumer SNS commitment level was used. Analysis of the data identified factors in fashion information searching as ongoing searching, prepurchase web portal information search, and prepurchase marketing information search. For low-price fashion products, prepurchase product-detail influenced intention to share information. For mid-priced products, ongoing search significantly affected intention to share information. Both ongoing search and prepurchase marketing information search showed significant effects for high-price products. Consumers who are more committed to SNS engaged in significantly more searching in all aspects of information search factors. Significant interaction effect was detected for consumer SNS commitment level and product price level. When consumers with low consumer SNS commitment search for information on lower-priced fashion products, they are less likely do a prepurchase web portal information search.
To improve the performance of wide-issue superscalar processors, it is essential to increase the width of instruction fetch and the issue rate. Removal of control hazard has been put forward as a significant new source of instruction-level parallelism for superscalar processors and the conditional branch prediction is an important technique for improving processor performance. Branch mispredictions, however, waste a large number of cycles, inhibit out-of-order execution, and waste electric power on mis-speculated instructions. Hence, the branch predictor with higher accuracy is necessary for good processor performance. In global-history-based predictors like gshare and GAg, many mispredictions come from commit update of the branch history. Some works on this subject have discussed the need for speculative update of the history and recovery mechanisms for branch mispredictions. In this paper, we present a new mechanism for recovering the branch history after a misprediction. The proposed mechanism adds an age_counter to the original predictor and doubles the size of the branch history register. The age_counter counts the number of outstanding branches and uses it to recover the branch history register. Simulation results on the SimpleScalar 3.0/PISA tool set and the SPECINT95 benchmarks show that gshare and GAg with the proposed recovery mechanism improved the average prediction accuracy by 2.14% and 9.21%, respectively and the average IPC by 8.75% and 18.08%, respectively over the original predictor.
Since too much information has been generated, it became very difficult to find out valuable and necessary information. In order to deal with the problem of information overload, the taxonomy for information visualization techniques has been based upon vi
The following paragraph is extracted from an email message written by a German medical doctor working in Papua New Guinea (PNG) since 1999. I was impressed the most by a 15-year-old boy who arrived out of the bush in a health center complaining about lower-right abdominal pain. Due to the possibility of an appendix infection, he had to be transferred to the hospital. But the sea was rough, and he had to wait for two days at the health center. Then a so-called banana boat, a boat with an outboard motor, brought him in a 6-hour trip to Vunapope [a town in PNG]. Even for healthy people such a trip with all the up and down is not a pleasure. As it turned out, the appendix had broken through and quite some pus had collected in his abdomen. In spite of the pain medication, the trip on the boat must have been hell for the boy, but he endured it courageously. The doctor regularly reports about her life and adventures in PNG to her friends and sponsors viaemail. The stories in her e-mail messages are often fascinating and sometimes heartbreaking. Life m PNG is far beyond what some of us can imagine. This article reports on information technology (IT) in PNG, particularly as it affects education and cultural development. The findings are based on data collected from the medical doctor and a school principal, both currently working in PNG. The purpose of the article is not to present sophisticated research results but to offer a glimpse of IT culture in PNG. It starts with a brief overview of IT in developing countries and then focuses on PNG.
The Indonesian government launched a new people's business credit program as part of a package of economic policy and deregulation. The interest rate is set lower than the average of the current loan interest rates, especially when compared with rural bank interest rates. To capture the social spatial aspects, quota sampling is applied to ten areas that divided based on the social culture. Further, the method utilized in this research is logit models, which designed to analyse the determinants of asymmetric information particularly on the rural bank and small micro enterprises. The study was conducted in East Java as the province with the largest number of rural banks in Indonesia. Based on the estimation of asymmetric information model to the respondent of rural banks and small businesses, the result shows that adverse selection can be avoided by strengthening the information about prospective borrowers. Regarding moral hazard, rural banks and small businessmen argued that the imposition of the collateral to the debtor has an important role to avoid moral hazard. Rural bank respondents stated that the KUR program with low-interest rates has affected their business development. The results implied the need of broadening the collaboration schemes between this people’s business credit program and rural banks.
NABIC(National Agricultural Biotechnology Information Center) established integrated management system of agricultural omics information to achieve and analyze a agricultural bio-information resources in Korea. The amount of bio-information is enormously increasing due to emergence of NGS(Next Generation Sequencing) technology. We are building, maintaining and providing agricultural bio-information databases and information services. Various data type for submission is available such as genome, proteome, transcriptome, metabolome, molecular marker, etc. We issue the submission confirmation which is available for research achievement. Currently, the amount of data submitted on our system is 30Tb. We are also providing various analysis pipelines such as NGS analysis(denovo, rna-seq, reference assembly), Gene annotation, GWAS, marker analysis for breeding ,Microbial community analysis and differential expression profiling analysis using submitted data through web. We have a plan to provide bioinformatics education portal in this year.
