The Chalcididae belong to a medium-sized family of parasitoids in the superfamily Chalcidoidea (Hymenoptera). Chalcidids can be recognized by the swollen hind femur, the indistinct prepectus, the sharp occipital carina bordering the gena posteriorly, and the strong punctation of the mesosoma. They have been recorded parasitizing six insect orders, and several species are facultative or obligate hyperparasitoids. More than 1,500 species in 90 genera have been recorded worldwide, of which 12 species in six genera have been recorded in South Korea. As a result of taxonomic and faunal studies on Korean Chalcididae, we have found two newly recorded species, Haltichella nipponensis Habu and Dirhinus anthracia Walker, in Korea. These species were discovered using Malaise traps, Lindgren funnel traps, and observation with the naked eye in Jeonbuk, Gangwon province, and Sejong city in 2023. The genus Haltichella Spinola, 1811, is recorded in Korea for the first time. In this presentation, we provide morphological and ecological information on these species.

Laurencia is a red algal genus that was described by J.V. Lamouroux in 1813. The main characteristics of this genus have been known as the presence of four pericentral cells in an axial segment, secondary pit connections between adjacent epidermal cells, and the presence of corps en cerise in both epidermal and trichoblast cells. Additionally, the tetrasporangia are arranged in a parallel manner, and male branches feature terminal cup-shaped spermatangial pits. Currently, sixteen Korean Laurencia species have been reported based on their morphological characteristics. In this study, Laurencia decussata and L. pacifica have been added as new records to the Korean algal flora based on a combination of morphological observations and molecular analyses of rbcL sequences. Laurencia decussata has expanded from Australia and New Zealand to Korea, while the distribution of L. pacifica has expanded from USA and Mexico to Korea.
The family Erebidae is acknowledged as a highly diverse group in Lepidoptera. The genus Ischyja Hübner, 1823 has been known from India, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, southern China, Borneo, and Sundaland, predominantly in the old world tropic region. This research presents identification of two species, which have been in Vietnam for the first time. With these new findings, the total number of Ischyja species has increased to four. We present a checklist of them, including descriptions and illustrations of the newly recorded species.
Pseudopomyzidae (Diptera: Nerioidea) is rare and a small family of dark-colored acalyptrate flies, comprising 24 extant species in eight genera and two fossil species in a single genus. To date, only one species Pseudopomyza atrimana (Meigen, 1830) has been recorded in the Korean Peninsula. This study reports the first Korean records of the family Pseudopomyzidae, with two genera and two species, Polypathomyia stackelbergi Krivosheina, 1979 and Tenuia smirnovi Shatalkin, 1995. A key to Korean Pseudopomyzidae is provided with morphological diagnosis and illustrations of habitus and genital structures of males.
