        Subway trains with air cleaners have been newly deployed in the Seoul Metro system. The purpose of this study was to determine differences regarding in-cabin particulate matter with respect to concentrations less than 10 um (PM10) and 2.5 um (PM2.5) through the operation of air cleaners in subway trains. One subway train newly installed with in-cabin air cleaners on Seoul Metro Line number 2 was chosen monitoring in 2020. In-cabin air cleaners were turned-on at both front and back areas while those in the middle area were turned-off while the train was running. In-cabin PM10 and PM2.5 concentrations were measured in each area using a real-time aerosol monitor. Average in-cabin PM10 concentrations were statistically significantly lower (by 15%) in areas with air cleaners turned-on (43.8±12.1 μg/m3) compared to those areas where the air cleaners were turned-off (51.4±15.0 μg/m3). Average incabin PM2.5 concentrations were significantly lower (by 14%) in areas with air cleaners turned on (33.7±12.2 μg/m3) compared to those areas where air cleaners were turned-off (39.2± 14.4 μg/m3). In-cabin PM10 and PM2.5 concentrations ratios were similar regardless of area with air cleaners turned-on or turned-off. The in-cabin PM10 and PM2.5 concentrations were not associated with commute time. Use of air cleaners in subway trains effected reductions in in-cabin PM10 and PM2.5 concentrations.

        The vibration of wheel is mainly affected by a fault on a wheel contacting with railway when average speed is over 60km/h. When the wheel vibration caused by wheel scratch increase more than a certain criterion, the wheel is shaved to reduce the vibration. This criterion of shaving is determined from the acceleration signal measured from the sensor mounted on the railway. In this study, vibration characteristics of the rolling wheels having a fault is analyzed with experimental approach to verify the acceleration criterion for shaving wheel.

        This study highlights the theme of human error of train drivers, conducting empirical analysis on the relationship between emergency stress, psychological fatigue, safety behavior, and accident. The hypothetical test results based on questionnaires received from 223 train drivers working at A subway firm indicate that emergency stress shows a significant positive effect on psychological fatigue, which in turn shows a significant negative influence on safety behavior. And safety behavior is shown having a significant negative relationship with accident. These results suggest the necessity of corporate-level approaches to depict the drastic causes of drivers’ emergency stress, and to effectively manage this stress, as well as the necessity of making effort to enhance safety behavior, and to prevent or reduce accidents.

        Railway noise is one of the main causes of environment impact. Whenever a new railway line is planned or a housing project near an existing railway is proposed, an estimate of the relevant noise levels is usually required. For this, it is necessary to quantify those parameters that affect the railway noise. Therefore we investigated the noise level which subway trains generated passing through the block of test railway track between Hopo and Keumgok station in Busan. This paper shows the status and characteristics of the subway train noise and a subjective evaluation.

        본 연구에서는 열차 진행에 따른 진동이 지하철 박스구조물에 미치는 영향에 대해서 분석을 수행하였다. 이를 위하여 지하철 본선에 센서를 설치하고 지하철이 운행 시간대의 열차진동 데이터를 획득하였다. 센서의 위치는 하부보, 측벽, 상부슬래브에 설치하였고, 자갈도상부와 콘크리트도상부의 하부보와 측벽에 각각 센서를 부착하여 부재의 위치 및 도상의 종류에 따른 진동의 영향을 분석하였다. 하부보와 상부슬래브의 동적응답을 분석한 결과 하부보의 진동속도에 비하여 상부슬래브의 진동속도는 작은 것으로 분석되었고, 상부슬래브 균열의 폭에 대한 변화도 없는 것으로 분석되어 진동의 영향이 상부슬래브까지 미치지 않는 것으로 분석되었다. 자갈도상과 콘크리트도상의 위치에서 하부보와 측벽의 가속도를 비교한 결과 콘크리트 도상의 약간 큰 것으로 나타났으나 그 차가 크지 않아 도상의 차이에 따른 정량적인 분석은 추후에 추가적인 연구를 통하여 분석하여야 할 것으로 판단된다. 구조물의 진동을 평가하기 위해서 가속도 이력을 속도이력으로 변환하여 기존의 승강장에서 수집된 진동 속도 데이터와 비교하였으며, 승강장보다는 본선의 진동속도가 더 빠른 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 금번 연구를 통하여 정밀안전 시에 지하철의 진동을 측정하여 구조물의 평가를 처음으로 시도하였으며 추후 연구에서는 측정 분해능을 보다 세밀하게 하고 측정 개소를 다양화하여 보다 세밀한 분석을 수행하는 연구가 필요할 것으로 판단된다.
