A series of echo-sounding and current measurements as well as the drogue and the drift bottle experiments were carried out in Asan Bay since November 1974. Several sand bars or sand flats covered by silts were developed at ebb tide in the bay. Sand waves and sand ripples were seen on the surface of the sand bars, around which sea channels of 8~ 12 meters in depth are formed. The main stream axis of the flood current which is separated into east and west branch flows southward. A cyclonic and an anticyclonic eddy are developed at the early stage of flood tide. They are transformed into a clockwise eddy before the slack water. The maximum tidal current speed observed was 3.1 ~ 3.2 knots at the entrance of the bay, while it was 1.O ~ 2.8 knots in the bay. The location of the main stream axis of the tidal current coincides well with the sea channel. A salt wedge was observed at the estuary of the Sabgyo-cheon River.

In estimates of horizontal radiation, its values are determined by correlations among the length of day, noon altitude of the sun, and cloud amount. During winter from 1971 to 1974 in Korea, its correlations are calculated by empirical method are Qo=0.0124 HcTd at clear day and Qs=0.0124 HcTd (1-0.0C41.3) at cloudy day. here Qo, Qs, Hc, Td, C are horizontal radiation at clear day, horizontal radiation at cloudy day, noon altitude of the sun, length of day, and cloud amount. In applications of this equation at 10 stations in Korea, errors are less than 10% when cloud amount are less than 7, and 1O~20% when cloud amount are more than 7. But, according to Laevastu equation in same case, errors are 50% closely.

1977~76년에 부산수산대학의 오태산호를 사용하여 북서태평양의 소련 Kamchatka 반도와 Kurile열도 근해에서 해양 관측, 음향 측심 및 해류 조사를 실시한 자료를 해석하고, 해수유동과 해저지형과의 관련성 등에 관하여 검토하였다. Kamchaka 반도 동방의 대륙붕은 넓게 확장되어 그 폭은 약 75km에 달하고 그 경사는 완만하다(1~2。). 이 대륙붕은 Paramushir도 동방에서 폭이 좁아져서 약 36km가 되고 경사가 급해진다. Onekotan만 동쪽 약 20mile 해역에는 대륙붕이 조금 짤라져 해삼 모양의 솟은 곳이 있고, 그 단면은 평두해산과 비슷하다. Kurile열도 동방 Oyashio 해류 유역에서 직접 측류한 결과는 약 1kt로서 해류의 역학계산으로 얻은 유속 0.5~0.7kt 보다 조금 빨랐다. Oyashio 해류 동쪽 가장자리에는 강한 해류와 개속된 대소 규모의 좌선 및 우선 소용돌이가 줄지어 있다.

For four calender years (1971-1974), daily observations of weather conditions (air temperature, humidity, wind speed, wind direction, cloud amount, fog, precipitation etc.) at six stations in the north western Pacific Ocean are used to calculate mean monthly values and to check extra-conditions. At Petropavlosk and Miko'skoe, where indicate the characteristics of modified continental climate, the temperature and humidity are high in summer, and Iow in winter. At A Dak and She Mya, where indicate the characteristics of warm current type maritime climate, humidity is high in all season and annual range of air temperature is nearly negligible. At Simusir and Vasi!' eva, where indicate the characteristics of cold current type maritime climate, humidity is high in all season and annual range of air temperature is 15℃. As dry cooling power is relatively high in winter, working condition on deck is bad. Most of fogs are advection fog in the area of cold current type climate in summer.
