This study was conducted to develop a bended steel-hybrid GFRP (Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer) bar. The steel-hybrid GFRP bar was to develop for replacing steel rebar for RC structures which were built in the corrosive environment. To be used for RC structures, a bended type of steel-hybrid GFRP bar is required. This study explains the results of current status of the project.
In this study, CO2 reduction type quaternary component high fluidity concrete was produced with more than 80%r eduction in cement quantity to increase the use of industrial by product sand enhance construction performance, there by reducing CO2 emissions. Furthermore, theq uality properties, and CO2 reduction performance of this concrete were evaluated. As a result of the quality evaluation of quaternary component blended high fluidity concrete with CO₂reduction, the target performance could be achieved with a 80% or more reduction of cement quantity by mixing a large amount of industrial byproducts. The required performance level was obtained even though the flow, mechanics, and durability characteristics decreased a little compared to conventional mix.
In this paper, the material characteristics of field applied green slope soil for development of vegetation shotcrete using mineral additive are evaluated. From the results, after a consolidation of certain level is proceeded, soil hardness and soil strength are not affected by ages. However, in order to ensure slope stability, the cohesion should be improved of green slope soil.
Chlorides have an strong effect on durability of concrete. So, Damage cases of RC bridge structure subjected to chloride were collected through precise safety inspection for effective maintainance of concrete bridge.
Steel corrosion in concrete induced primarily by chloride ingress and its diffusion, deteriorates concrete structures exposed to aggressive agents, such as chloride, significantly. This paper discusses the rehabilitation case study of deteriorated bridge by de-icing salts attack.
Road bridges are affected by de-icing chemicals, which are used to prevent snow and ice on the road. Corrosion of steel girders due to de-icing chemicals are becoming common problems. The deterioration of steel girder ends due to deck joint leakage and occasional spray from passing vehicles usually cause section losses and strength reduction. This report presents th results of a study carried out to repair corroded steel box girder bridge.
Maintenance costs, depending on the occurrence of deterioration expressway bridges has been increasing at a very rapid rate (approximately 200% increase in the last five years). In order to reduce the damage caused by water leakage and de-icing salt damage, We proposed a design improvement of concrete slab edge.
In the past, concrete pavements were routinely designed and constructed to provide low-maintenance service lives of 20 to 25 years. More recently, there has been a movement toward construction of pavements with a longer initial service life of 40 or more years. This paper discusses a mixture improvement for long life concrete pavement.
In this study, the resistance to salt-attack of concrete using various mineral admixtures was experimentally evaluated to develop high durability concrete. As a result, the resistance to salt-attack of concrete using fly ash was lower than that of OPC concrete at age of 28 days. However, all concrete using mineral admixtures showed the higher resistance to salt-attack than OPC concrete at long-term age.
Recently, the concern on the deterioration of concrete due to de-icing salts and its counter measurements has been increased. This paper discusses the durability Assessment procedure of RC Structures against chloride attack under depicing salt environments.
The maintenance costs will be increased due to the aging of the bridge. Most of maintenance activity is generally known for preventing and repairing the deterioration by de-icing salts. The objective of this research is to investigate the minimizing strategy of maintenance costs for the deterioration by de-icing slats of highway bridges.
