Metacognition in L2 listening has garnered attention, but there is limited research on concrete methods to practice it in high school EFL contexts. This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of self-annotation interventions in a high school EFL listening classroom. Through the analysis of pre- and post-listening tests, students’ annotations over 10 sessions, and a post-questionnaire, this study reveals that selfannotation interventions improve students’ comprehension, confidence, and motivation. Both higher- and lower-level students demonstrated improved L2 listening test scores compared to the control group, with the former generating more analytical selfannotations and achieving more statistically significant progress. The thematic analysis of students’ self-annotations identified recurring patterns that can inform effective listening instruction, while also enabling students to recognize and correct their mistakes, as well as receive cognitive and affective support. This study emphasizes the importance and feasibility of incorporating self-annotation in high school EFL listening classrooms, making students’ reflection processes observable and actionable, and providing recommendations for effective metacognitive interventions.
The purpose of this study was to investigate how the English speaking ability of Korean EFL college students was affected by their interactions with Talk-to-ChatGPT while taking an ‘English Interview’ class. Thirty pieces of English conversation scripts with thirty chatbot conversations created by five students were collected for analysis. Two online text analysis programs, Quillbot including word counter and grammar checker and T.E.R.A.(Text Ease and Readability Assessor), were used for data analysis. The findings of data analysis revealed that 1) The average length of the sentences and words spoken by the participants has increased through English speaking practice using Talk-to-ChatGPT, and 2) There was no significant change in text ease and readability, and coherence of students’ utterances through English speaking practice using a chatbot while there were differences depending on their English proficiency levels. 3) Students A, B, and D, who had relatively low levels of English proficiency, showed a slight increase in syntactic accuracy and semantic clarity in their English interview practice. Based on the study findings, pedagogical implications for the effective use of AI-based apps or programs in English speaking classes were presented.
This paper chronicles the evolution of load-sharing parameter estimation methodologies, with a particular focus on the significant contributions made by Kim and Kvam (2004) and Park (2012). Kim and Kvam's pioneering work underscored the inherent challenges in deriving closed-form solutions for load-share parameters, which necessitated the use of sophisticated numerical optimization techniques. Park's research, on the other hand, provided groundbreaking closed-form solutions and extended the theoretical framework to accommodate more general distributions of component lifetimes. This was achieved by incorporating EM-type methods for maximum likelihood estimation, which represented a significant advancement in the field. Unlike previous efforts, this paper zeroes in on the specific characteristics and advantages of closed-form solutions for load-share parameters within reliability systems. Much like the basic Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) model enhances the understanding of real-life inventory systems dynamics, our analysis aims to thoroughly explore the conditions under which these closed-form solutions are valid. We investigate their stability, robustness, and applicability to various types of systems. Through this comprehensive study, we aspire to provide a deep understanding of the practical implications and potential benefits of these solutions. Building on previous advancements, our research further examines the robustness of these solutions in diverse reliability contexts, aiming to shed light on their practical relevance and utility in real-world applications.
The purpose of this study is to use an evacuation simulation program to measure the change in evacuation time according to the width of the evacuation route due to the installation of an intermediate sales counter and the placement of a shopping cart between the sales counters of a large supermarket and to analyze the results. Currently, the “Distribution Industry Development Act” does not regulate the size and installation method of intermediate sales counters installed between sales counters that serve as practical evacuation routes in the event of a fire at a large supermarket, the size of shopping carts, etc. Considering this, we set evacuation route widths of 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, and 100 cm and compared and analyzed evacuation times according to various variables in the facility space. As a result of the experiment, as the width of the evacuation route was expanded, there was a significant difference in the evacuation time, from a maximum of 468.3 seconds to a minimum of 320.8 seconds. Considering the safety of evacuees in large supermarkets used by many people, it is time to regulate the size of intermediate sales stands installed between sales counters in large supermarkets and shopping carts that can become obstacles in an emergency.
As global climate change impacts become more apparent, countries are implementing various policies to achieve carbon neutrality that can be categorized into direct regulations and market-based indirect regulations. The latter, utilizing economic incentives, is considered more efficient in transforming corporate behavior and promoting voluntary efforts for carbon reduction. In alignment with international trends, South Korea has introduced the Emission Trading System (ETS) in 2015. Despite this, the domestic carbon market remains underdeveloped, with low ETS participation, particularly in the aquaculture sector. In order to activate external projects under the ETS, this study proposes short-term strategies including linking ETS with popular eco-friendly energy distribution projects, developing standardized monitoring techniques, and integrating carbon reduction initiatives with other support mechanisms such as direct payment programs. Long-term strategies focus on developing new methodologies for external projects, promoting the use of renewable energy, and enhancing technologies to reduce energy consumption in aquaculture operations. By implementing these strategies, the study aims to enhance the participation of the aquaculture sector in carbon reduction efforts, contributing to the overall goal of carbon neutrality.
This study analyzes the impact of occupational health risk assessments on the safety and health levels and the safety behaviors of workers in manufacturing workplaces. An online survey was conducted among 3,172 companies, yielding 637 responses. The statistical analysis on the collected responses revealed three key findings. First, the safety and health levels (safety importance, safety comprehension, safety awareness) positively influence the outcomes of occupational health risk assessments(safety practice, safety management, safety improvement) and safety behaviors (activity change, safety check). Second, the effectiveness of occupational health risk assessments has a positive impact on safety behaviors. Lastly, the effectiveness of occupational health risk assessments partially mediate the relationship between safety and health levels and safety behaviors. These findings are expected to contribute to the promotion of risk assessments in the field of industrial health and to enhancing safety performance by improving workplace safety, health levels, and safety behavior.
Although concerns about overheating of the franchise industry's market structure continue to be raised, there are few studies that analyze the market structure of the franchise industry and suggest practical use. Most existing studies mainly analyze the market structure of other industries using industrial concentration(HHI) as an indicator of market competition intensity from the perspective of industrial organization theory. This study seeks to present a market structure analysis method that is different from existing methods. Considering practical application, this study presented a method to analyze the market structure that combines industry concentration(HHI) analysis and matrix analysis of the franchise industry. First, the industry concentration(HHI) and operating profit ratio(SMR) of 15 major industries in the franchise industry were analyzed in a time series manner (2014-2019). Second, using industrial concentration and operating profit ratio(SMR) as two variables on the x-axis and y-axis, a two-stage matrix analysis was used to understand the market structure characteristics of 15 industries at a glance. Third, a method of utilizing the matrix analysis results for practical decision-making was presented.
Fishing losses require a practical rather than an academic theoretical approach. As of the end of 2023, in accordance with the construction plan for the Gadeokdo New Airport, we are in a situation where we must realistically deal with losses not only to land and other obstacles in the area, but also to the fishing industry. However, in order for such compensation to be properly made, the legal realization procedures, ranging from the Land Compensation Act a general law, to the Fisheries Act, a special law, and even the Gadeokdo New Airport Special Act, must be identified and practically implemented. We will look into special cases in a special way and ultimately make efforts to resolve social conflicts in advance, and then, if unavoidable, take care to ensure that appropriate compensation for losses is provided in spite of ex-ante and ex-post rights relief. We would like to present a feasible plan. Going further from the concept and implementation method of compensation so far, shares of so-called 'post-asset' are distributed to fishermen so that other benefits can be provided to fishermen for the development of nearby areas at the same time as the construction of Gadeokdo New Airport. Effective plans will also have to be devised. In order to execute above targets, research and implementation concerning the compensation should be conducted according to the following procedures: 1) Resident and Status survey, 2) Reviewing measures for preparing a resettlement area and land for their livelihoods, 3) Selecting the candidate site for the resettlement area and land, 4) Establishment of Basic concept, and 5) Feasibility review.
The Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) aims to maintain and promote the safety and health of workers. Additionally, violations of the act can result in imprisonment or fines, depending on the severity of the offense. This study examines whether the severity of OSHA violations is proportional to the size of the fines imposed. There are 120 items subject to fines, with penalties ranging from a minimum of 50,000 won to a maximum of 30 million won. To assess the severity of these items, pairwise comparisons were conducted, and the results were expressed numerically. In summary, no significant correlation was found between the severity of violations and the amount of the fines. Therefore, this study proposes calculating fines based on the severity of violations. In many small companies, resources (e.g., budget and manpower) are limited. Thus, greater attentions tend to be directed toward addressing items with higher fines. Consequently, aligning the severity of legal violations with the size of the fines may contribute to improving the industrial safety.
There is a demand for introducing a challenging and innovative R&D system to develop new technologies to generate weapon system requirements. Despite the increasing trend in annual core technology development tasks, the infrastructure expansion, including personnel in research management institutions, is relatively insufficient. This situation continuously exposes difficulties in task planning, selection, execution, and management. Therefore, there is a pressing need for strategies to initiate timely research and development and enhance budget execution efficiency through the streamlining of task agreement schedules. In this study, we propose a strategic model utilizing a flexible workforce model, considering constraints and optimizing workload distribution through resource allocation to minimize bottlenecks for efficient task agreement schedules. Comparative analysis with the existing operational environment confirms that the proposed model can handle an average of 67 more core technology development tasks within the agreement period compared to the baseline. In addition, the risk management analysis, which considered the probabilistic uncertainty of the fluctuating number of core technology research and development projects, confirmed that up to 115 core technology development can be contracted within the year under risk avoidance.

To identify effective methods for boosting incidental vocabulary learning, this study examines the impacts of two tools—bimodal presentation (BP) and lexical elaboration (LE)—on vocabulary acquisition through repeated encounters with target words during meaning-focused reading. In a quiet and comfortable place conducive to full concentration on reading comprehension, 80 L2 learners of English were assigned to one of four treatment groups (BP+LE+, BP+LE-, BP-LE+, and BP-LE-) and individually read three reading passages where target words appeared four times. Surprise posttests assessed meaning recognition and meaning recall. The results of this ecologically valid experiment show significant vocabulary learning through reading, with BP notably enhancing meaning recall. Although the main effect of LE was non-significant, LE was also significantly effective for both meaning recognition and meaning recall if it was noticed by participants. These findings suggest that BP and LE can serve as valuable tools for promoting vocabulary acquisition during meaning-centered reading.
In an influential paper, Choi and Kim (2010) derived waiting times in an queuing model under net neurality and under prioritization. In this short paper, we argue that the waiting times of content transmission that Choi and Kim (2010) derived by using the gueuing model under the non-preemptive priority rule are miscalculated. We provide corrected waiting times in the queuing model in the prioritization case. We also show that this correction does not affect their main results on the delay time and the incentive to invest in the network capacity qualitatively.
The purpose of this study is to examine the determinants of management performance in the remaining offshore fishing industry after the resource management-oriented fisheries structure improvement policy by the fisheries vessel buy-back program and Total Allowable Catch (TAC). The results of the analysis of the determinants of management performance of offshore fishing can be summarized as follows. First, based on the management performance determinant model of offshore fishing, it is confirmed that the government's resource-managed fishing structure improvement policy, such as the fishing boat reduction project and the TAC policy, is improving the management performance of the resource-managed remaining fishing boat. Second, looking at the specific management performance determinants based on the management performance model of offshore fishing, the leverage ratio (TLTA), which is the total debt ratio, shows a statistically significant positive (+) relationship with management performance, which increases management performance directly proportional to the leverage ratio. The increase in the leverage ratio (total debt ratio) was expected to lead to a high interest cost burden, resulting in a reverse (-) financial leverage effect; however, rather a positive (+) financial leverage effect occurred with a high profit covering interest costs. The total catch (TCATCH) has a positive (+) relationship with management performance at a statistical significance level of less than 1%, indicating that an increase in catch is improving or increasing the management performance of fishing companies. The selling price (UPRICE) shows a positive (+) relationship with management performance at a very high statistical significance level of less than 1%, and it can be seen that high fishing prices are a major factor in improving or increasing the management performance of offshore fishing. On the other hand, fishing vessel tonnage (TON), fishing vessel horsepower (RHP), and operating days (WDAYS), which indicate have a statistically significant negative (-) relationship with management performance, which deviates from the existing fisheries common sense that the size of fishing vessel tonnage and fishing vessel horsepower and the increase in the number of operating days is proportional to management performance. As a result of the increase in fishing vessel tonnage, horsepower, and the number of operating days, it was confirmed that the higher the fishing cost, such as oil costs, is worsening the management performance of fishing companies. Participation in TAC has a statistically significant positive (+) value with management performance, indicating that the remaining offshore fishing companies participating in TAC are improving or increasing management performance compared to offshore fishing companies that do not. Third, there are conflicting results depending on the industry as a result of estimating the management performance determinants of offshore fishing by TAC participation, and TAC participation had a negative impact on management performance in anchovy boat seine and southern west sea bottom trawl in fishing industry while TAC participation had a positive impact on management performance in large stow nets on anchor in fishing industry.
The study is aimed at investigating the impact of self- and peer-assessment on students’ teacher efficacy and satisfaction in lesson planning at a university foreign language pedagogy course. Four self- and peer-assessment sessions for developing pedagogically sound lesson plans were held for 7 weeks. Nineteen students participated in the study. A student questionnaire was collected to see if self- and peer-assessment affected students’ teacher efficacy twice in weeks 1 and 7. In addition, in-depth interviews were conducted to understand students’ perceptions of self- and peer-assessment in terms of its benefits and room for improvement. The research revealed the findings as follows. Firstly, there was a statistically significant impact of self- and peer-assessment of lesson plans on both domains of teacher-efficacy: personal teaching efficacy and teaching outcome expectancy. Secondly, students found self- and peer-assessment satisfactory and useful when building lesson plans. Thirdly, themes for benefits of self- and peer-assessment were ‘objective perspective,’ ‘heightened insight,’ and ‘reflective thinking.’ Lastly, two themes for room for improvement in peer-assessment were ‘offering positive feedback’ and ‘working on the same period.’
통일신라시대의 석성이란 무엇인가. 삼국시대와 고려시대 석성과는 어떤 다른 점이 있는 것인가. 결국 기준이 되는 것은 석축으로 쌓은 성벽과 출토유물의 조합일 것이다. 유물이 어 떤 층위와 맥락속에서 출토되었는지도 중요한 점이다. 이 논문은 통일신라시대 서울·경기 지역에 분포한 12개 석성을 분석 유적으로 삼았고, 외벽, 기단보축, 보축성벽, 치성, 출토유 물과 층위를 종합적으로 파악해 통일신라시대 석성의 특징을 살펴보고자 하였다. 이 중에서 가장 주목되는 것은 보축성벽이며, 서울·경기지역 통일신라시대 석성에서 새 롭게 나타나는 특징 중에 하나라고 알려져 있다. 보축성벽의 출현은 아마도 삼국이 통일된 이후 방어적인 기능과 성곽의 위계를 나타낼 수 있는 기재가 필요했을 것이다. 이는 서울· 경기지역의 중심 지역인 한산주(한주)의 주성인 이성산성에서 가장 치석이 잘 되고, 형태적 으로도 견고하고 미적으로 뛰어난 보축성벽이 이를 말해 주는 것 같다. 보축성벽과 함께 치성 변화가 있다. 계단형 보축성벽의 축조방식을 치성의 하단부(기단) 에 적용하고 상단부터는 수직기둥홈에 나무를 세워 상단부 외벽을 수직으로 쌓은 치성이 등 장한다. 이러한 치성은 아차산성 3차 치성에서 등장하고 이후 계양산성 치성(고려시대)으로 이어진다. 이번 분석 대상에서 빠진 서울·경기지역의 석성과 더 나아가 통일신라 한산주(한주)의 영역까지 차후 분석하여 통일신라시대의 석성 특징과 변화의 원인을 밝혀보고자 한다.
This study aims to develop a regression model using data from the Ammunition Stockpile Reliability Program (ASRP) to predict the shelf life of 81mm mortar high-explosive shells. Ammunition is a single-use item that is discarded after use, and its quality is managed through sampling inspections. In particular, shelf life is closely related to the performance of the propellant. This research seeks to predict the shelf life of ammunition using a regression model. The experiment was conducted using 107 ASRP data points. The dependent variable was 'Storage Period', while the independent variables were 'Mean Ammunition Velocity,' 'Standard Deviation of Mean Ammunition Velocity,' and 'Stabilizer'. The explanatory power of the regression model was an R-squared value of 0.662. The results indicated that it takes approximately 55 years for the storage grade to change from A to C and about 62 years to change from C to D. The proposed model enhances the reliability of ammunition management, prevents unnecessary disposal, and contributes to the efficient use of defense resources. However, the model's explanatory power is somewhat limited due to the small dataset. Future research is expected to improve the model with additional data collection. Expanding the research to other types of ammunition may further aid in improving the military's ammunition management system.
본 논문은 중국의 사이버 보안법을 둘러싼 쟁점을 살펴보고, 이 법이 기술무역장벽협정(TBT)의 규정을 위반하는지 여부를 검토하였다. 각 국 가들이 중국의 사이버 보안법을 TBT로 간주하는 주요 이유는 국경 간 데이터 흐름에 대한 제한 때문이다. 분석 결과, 국경 간 데이터 흐름에 대한 국가들의 상이한 태도 이면에 존재하는 핵심 문제는 주요 이해 관 계자들이 사이버 보안을 정의하는 방식에 있어 큰 차이가 있다는 것이 다. 따라서 주요 사이버 강국들은 사이버 보안을 정의하는 데 있어 합의 에 도달하는 것을 우선적으로 고려해야 한다. 각 국가들은 자국의 사이 버 전략을 강화하기 위해 관련 행정 규정, 부처 규칙, 및 규범에 관한 문서를 발행 및 개선하여 네트워크 운영자와 법 집행 기관을 위한 구체 적인 시행 기반을 제공해야 한다. 아울러 한국 정부는 중국과의 중요한 경제 관계와 국가 안보 및 경제 성장을 위해 데이터 현지화와 국경 간 데이터 흐름에 관한 정책의 균형이 필요하다고 강조한다.
본 연구에서는 한국 건설업에서 근무하는 외국인 근로자들의 안전문 화, 안전의식, 그리고 안전참여행동 간의 상호 연관성을 파악함으로써, 안전의식의 매개 효과와 연령의 조절 효과를 검증하고자 하였다. 연구 결과, 안전문화의 핵심 요소인 의사소통, 교육 및 제도, 작업환경이 안전 의식 및 안전참여행동과 강력한 상관관계를 보였다. 특히 의사소통과 교 육 및 제도가 안전의식을 통해 안전참여행동에 유의미한 영향을 미쳤으 며, 이는 건설 현장에서 해당 요소들의 강화가 안전한 작업 환경 조성에 필수적임을 시사한다. 이와 함께, 의사소통과 작업환경의 향상이 안전의 식을 매개로 안전참여행동을 촉진하는 중요한 경로로 작용함을 확인하였 다. 이 결과는 안전 관리 개선을 위한 효과적인 접근법으로서 의사소통 개선과 작업환경의 질적 향상의 필요성을 강조한다. 또한, 연령에 따른 조절 효과 분석에서는 50대 근로자 그룹에서 의사소통의 중요성이 특히 강 조되었으며, 이는 안전의식과 안전참여행동 간의 강한 연관성을 보여준다.
본 연구의 목적은 전쟁 후의 정의에 있어 정치적, 윤리적 우선순위는 무엇이 되어야 하는지를 살펴 보는 것에 있다. 본고에서는 이를 위해 정 의 전쟁론에 기반하여 전쟁의 규범성 및 윤리성을 검토함으로써 전쟁 후 의 정의에 필요한 요건들을 살펴보았다. 러시아-우크라이나 전쟁과 이스 라엘의 가자지구 하마스 섬멸 작전은 최근 신냉전 담론을 일반화 시키고 있다. 그러나 역설적이게도 이는 동시에 전쟁 규범의 목소리를 키웠다. 현재 진행되고 있는 전쟁들의 정당성과 전투 가운데 벌어지는 제 사건들 에 대한 윤리적 비난 등이 그것이다. 본 연구는 이러한 혼란 가운데 전 쟁의 규범성에 주목했다. 정의로운 전쟁이 되기 위한 정당성은 어떻게 형성이 되는지, 그리고 이러한 정의전쟁은 구현할 수 있는가? 사실 이는 규범과 국가이성, 합리적 자조(self-help)행위 간 충돌과 그로 인해 폭로 되어진 규범의 이중성은 권력의 불가분성을 설명한다. 그리고 완성은 전 후 정의에 대한 승전국의 선언으로 끝난다. 그러나 역설적이게도 동시에 전쟁 피해자의 피해 복구 또한 전쟁 후 정의로서만 복구 가능하다. 혹자 는 이러한 피해자의 피해 복구는 전쟁범죄에 대한 처벌로만 가능하기 때 문에 승전국은 이를 피해 화해를 앞 세워 전쟁의 정당성을 완성하려 한 다고 본다. 그러나 전후의 정의는 오히려 처벌과 화해가 동시에 양립함 으로써 수립된다고 본 고에서는 주장한다. 이러한 연구는 전쟁이 한참인 가운데 전쟁 이후의 정의로운 평화를 구상하는 편린이 될 수 있다는 점 에서 유의미하다. 더불어 현재 전쟁들에 대한 정당성이 아닌 전후의 정 의를 논한다는 점은 연구의 공헌성을 더 한다.
