        The algal blooms in stagnant streams and lakes have caused many problems. Excessive algae leads to disturbance of ecosystem and overload of water treatment processes. Therefore, phosphorus(P), source of algal blooms, should be controlled. In this study, a filtration trench has been developed to convert dissolved phosphorus into hydroxyapatite(HAP) so that it could be crystallized on the surface of ‘phosphorus removal granular material’; and residual particulate phosphorus could be removed by additional precipitation and filtration. The front and rear parts of filtration trench consisted of ‘phosphorus removal granular material contact bed’ and ‘limestone filtration bed’, respectively. As a result of the column test using phosphorus removal granular material and limestone serially, PO4-P was removed more than 90% when EBCT(empty bed contact time) of the contact bed was over 20 minutes; and T-P represented 60% of removal efficiency when total EBCT was over 1.5 hours. The results of column tests to figure out the sedimentation characteristics showed that more than 90% of particulate phosphorus could be removed within 24 hours. It was necessary to optimize the filtration part in order to increase removal efficiency of T-P additionally. Also, it was confirmed through the simulation of Visual MINTEQ that most of particulate phosphorus in the column tests is the form of HAP. Based on the results of the study, it could be suggested that the design parameters are over 0.5 hour of EBCT for phosphorus removal granular material contact bed and over 1.5 hours of EBCT for limestone filtration bed.

        One of the major sources causing eutrophication and algal blooms of lakes or streams is phosphorus which comes from point and nonpoint pollution sources. HAP (hydroxyapatite) crystallization using granular alkaline materials can achieve the decrease of phosphorus load from wastewater treatment plants and nonpoint pollution control facilities. In order to induce HAP crystal formation, continuous supply of calcium and hydroxyl ions is required. In this research, considering HAP crystallization, several types of lime-based granular alkaline materials were prepared, and the elution characteristics of calcium and hydroxyl ions of each were analyzed. Also, column tests were performed to verify phosphorus removal efficiencies of granular alkaline materials. Material_1 (gypsum+cement mixed material) achieved the highest pH values in the column tests consistently, also, Material_2 (gypsum+slag mixed material) and Material_3 (calcined limestone material) achieved over pH 9.0 for 240 hours (10 days) and proved the efficiencies of long-term ion supplier for HAP crystallization. In the column tests using Material_3, considerable pH increase and phosphorus removal were carried out according to each linear velocity and filtration depth. T-P removal efficiencies were 87.0, 84.0, 68.0% and those of PO4-P 100.0, 97.0, 80.0% for linear velocity of 1.0, 2.5, 5.0 m/hr respectively. Based on the column test results, the applicability of phosphorus removal processes for small-scale wastewater treatment plants and nonpoint pollution control facilities was found out.

        PURPOSES : This study is to compare sound transmission loss(STL) value depending on the four kinds of materials, PC(Polycarbonate), PMMA(Polymethyl mathacrylate), PE(Polyethlyene), PP(Polypropylene), and two types of structure, single layer and double with vacuum layer, of soundproof panel. METHODS : With four sorts of polymer material, the specimens were made as various structures, 4 mm and 8 mm of single soundpoof panel and vacuum layered 4 mm of one. The experimental condition and procedures were complied with authorized process test, KS F 2808. RESULTS: STL of single panel made of PC were the greatest followed by PMMA, PE, PP regardless of the thickness of panel, However, STL of PMMA panel began to decrease around 2500 Hz and reached the lowest value among others in 5000 Hz. Vacuum layer soundproof panel showed good performance in more than 2000 Hz. Only vacuum layer panel made of PC presented resonance frequency at 800 Hz while that of other vacuum ones at 1000 Hz. CONCLUSIONS: According to results of single layer, it was found that single panel functioned as the theorical way we expected in terms of surface density. That trends were blurred as the panel got thicker. And it was suggested also that vacuum layer panel performed well at high frequency, more than 2000 Hz.

        In this study, an experiment was conducted on influent water with low concentrations of organic matter, such as river water or secondary treatment water of a sewage treatment plant, according to HRT changes by using aerobic biofilm. In the biofilm process, as the biofilm increases in thickness, the inner membrane can be low in oxygen transfer rate and become anaerobic conditions, while the detachment of biomass from biofilm occurs. To overcome these limitations in the detachment of microorganisms in biofilm, the yarn, which was made from poly propylene(PP), was weaved and manufactured into a tube. Then, a test was carried out by injecting air so that the interior of the biofilm could create aerobic conditions. The results of the experiment showed that the removal efficiency of TCODcr reached 66.1∼81.2% by HRT 2hr, and 50.9 ∼61.8% after HRT 1 hr. The removal efficiency of SCODcr was 45.9 to 55.1% by HRT 1hr, and 26.1% in HRT 0.5hr, showing the highest removal efficiency in HRT 1hr. The SS removal efficiency was at 81.8 to 94.6%, and the effluent SS concentration was very low, indicating less than 2.2 mg/L in all HRT's. As a result, the SCODcr and NH4 +-N that were removed per specific surface area and attached to microbial biofilm showed the highest efficiency in HRT 1hr with 8.37 gSCODcr/m2·d, 2.93 gNH4 +-N/m2·d. From the result of reviewing the characteristics of biofilm growth, microorganisms were found to be attached, and increased by 36 days. Later, they decreased in number through detachment, but showed a tendency to increase again 41 days later due to microbial reproduction.

        Finding a head of a person in a scene is very important for taking a well composed picture by a robot photographer because it depends on the position of the head. So in this paper, we propose a robust head tracking algorithm using a hybrid of an omega shape tracker and local binary pattern (LBP) AdaBoost face detector for the robot photographer to take a fine picture automatically. Face detection algorithms have good performance in terms of finding frontal faces, but it is not the same for rotated faces. In addition, when the face is occluded by a hat or hands, it has a hard time finding the face. In order to solve this problem, the omega shape tracker based on active shape model (ASM) is presented. The omega shape tracker is robust to occlusion and illumination change. However, when the environment is dynamic, such as when people move fast and when there is a complex background, its performance is unsatisfactory. Therefore, a method combining the face detection algorithm and the omega shape tracker by probabilistic method using histograms of oriented gradient (HOG) descriptor is proposed in this paper, in order to robustly find human head. A robot photographer was also implemented to abide by the 'rule of thirds' and to take photos when people smile.

        This paper describes an algorithm that improves 3D reconstruction result using a multi-sensor fusion disparity map. We can project LRF (Laser Range Finder) 3D points onto image pixel coordinates using extrinsic calibration matrixes of a camera-LRF ( ) and a camera calibration matrix ( ). The LRF disparity map can be generated by interpolating projected LRF points. In the stereo reconstruction, we can compensate invalid points caused by repeated pattern and textureless region using the LRF disparity map. The result disparity map of compensation process is the multi-sensor fusion disparity map. We can refine the multi-sensor 3D reconstruction based on stereo vision and LRF using the multi-sensor fusion disparity map. The refinement algorithm of multi-sensor based 3D reconstruction is specified in four subsections dealing with virtual LRF stereo image generation, LRF disparity map generation, multi-sensor fusion disparity map generation, and 3D reconstruction process. It has been tested by synchronized stereo image pair and LRF 3D scan data.
