        “Ahyun”, an Asiatic lily cultivar was released by the National Horticultural Research Institute (NHRI), in 2001. A crossing was made between Asiatic lily “Make up”, a spotted light pink colored variety, and “Anabelle”, a spotted deep orange variety in 1993. It was selected in natural cultivation condition from the progenies of a cross combination between “Make up” and “Anabelle” in 1995. The flower characteristics and performance of “Ahyun” were investigated from 1999 to 2001. The natural flowering time of “Ahyun” was late June, but year-round cut flower production was possible by storing the bulbs under -1 to -2℃ conditions. It has light orange petals with a little spots. The plant height is 104 cm. The width of flower is 15.6 cm. The weight and circumstance of bulb are 41.3 g and 14.8 cm, respectively. For forcing culture, it is necessary to add calcium to the fertilizer or remove side scales to prevent leaf scorch. Botrytis disease should be properly controlled especially in wet season.

        An experiment was conducted to examine the effects of aromatic flowering plant fragrance on concentration and emotional stability of middle school students' studies. The students of three classes from Y and C Middle School located in Seoul and Ansan, were selected for the experiment for one month. Each class was classified to the control group, the oriental lily group and complex group, respectively. The students of complex group was treated with a different flowering plant each week. After a month, the oriental lily group was rose in their scores of concentration on studies. Furthermore, most students contacted with aromatic flowering plants applied their school life was pleasant or that they got interest in flowers. Its results were an evidence of positive effects on students' emotion. A test of electroencephalogram(EEG) also indicated an increase of α-wave which was thought to be related with power of concentration and creative thinking.

        유색 칼라 세 품종(Sunlight, Chiante, Pink Persuation)의 기내 급속증식체계를 확립코자 정단분 열조직을 배양함에 있어 callus, 신초 및 뿌리 분화에 미치는 식물생장조절물질의 효과와 sucrose가 기내 괴경 형성 및 비대에 미치는 효과를 조사하였다. 식물체는 캘러스를 통하거나 또는 치상체에서 직접 분화되는 두 경로로 형성되었으며 2.0 mg/L BA 단용 처리에서 Sunlight품종은 53.3% 캘러스를, Chiante 품종은 56.7% 직접 신초를 형성하였다. 2.0-3.0 mg/L BA 단용 처리는 품종별로 식물체재 분화 빈도가 20-70%로 차이가 있었으나 세 품종 모두 3.0 mg/L. BA 단용 처리에서 신초 분화가 양호하였다. 다아체 형성에 미치는 cytokinin의 효과는 Sunlight품종은 1.0 mg/L 2ip 처리로 16개체를, Chiante 품종은 5.0 mg/L BA를 처리로 14개체를, Pink Persuasion품종은 1.0 mg/L BA처리로 12개체를 형성하였다. NAA는 세품종 뿌리분화에 효과가 없었으며 Sunlight 와 Chiante 품종은 1.0 mg/L IAA에서, Pink Persuasion 품종은 2.0 mg/L IBA가 효과적이었다. 괴경형성에 미치는 sucrose는 Sunlight 품종은 90 g/L, Chiante 및 Pink Persuasion 품종은 70 g/L 가 괴경 형성 및 비대에 효과적이었다.

        유색칼라 미숙배 배양에 의한 급속 증식체계를 확립 하고자 Southern Light 품종을 자가수분 시켜 배발육단계 및 식물생장조절제 종류와 농도가 다량의식물체 재분화에 미치는 효과를 조사하였다. 배 발육단계 별로 MS 기본배지 에 배양한 결과 globular 단계 미숙배는 반응이 없었고 몇 개의 어뢰형 배 및 초기 자업기배는 팽대 및 발아되었는데 어린 자엽기 미숙배가 87.5% 발아율을 보여 가장 효과적이었다. 한편 어린 자엽기 미숙배를 2,4-D, NAA및 BA를 단용 또는 혼용처리한 결과 2,4-D 단용 및 BA와 혼용처리배지에서는 유백색의 점액성 캘러스만이 8개월까지 증식되었고 NAA와 BA혼용처리 배지에서는 담황색의 단단한 배발생적 캘러스가 증식되어 모두 식물체로 재분화되었는데 특히 0.5 mg/L NAA와 1.0 mg/L BA혼용처리 하였을때 한개 자엽기 미숙배로 부터 25-30개의 식물체가 재분화 되었으며 동일배지에 10% coconut water를 첨가하므로 기내 식물의 급속생장이 효과적이었다. 배유래 재분화된 식물체는 vermiculite, perlite 및 모래를 1:1:1로 혼합한 토양에 이식하였으며 100% 정상식물체로 자라고 있다.
