        iRAP(international Road Assessment Program)에서는 최근 다양한 유형의 도로 정밀자료를 바탕으로 한 AiRAP(Accelerated intelligent Road Assessment Program)을 개발하여 여러 국가별 RAP에 확대 적용해나가고 있는 단계에 있다. 2023년부터 국내 도로 여건을 고려한 한국형 도로안전도 평가 프로그램 개발 연구가 진행 중에 있으며, 개발되는 평가항목 및 기준, 평가기술 등에 적합한 도로안전도 평가 기초데이터 역시 유형 및 범위에 변화가 필요해짐에 따라 이를 충족하는 기초데이터 수집이 가능한 도로안전도 조사장비 개발이 기획 되었다. 이에 따라 본 연구에서는 고사양의 360도 도로영상 촬영장치와 360도 128채널 LiDAR 센서, 정밀 GPS 시스템, 휴대용 운영장 치 등을 갖춘 도로안전도 조사장비를 일반 차량에 탈부착이 가능한 형태로 개발하고자 하였다. 본 개발 장비로 취득 가능한 도로영상 및 점군데이터를 활용하여 AiRAP 자동분석을 통한 도로안전도 평가가 가능한데, 이를 통해 객관적이고 신뢰성 높은 평가가 가능할 것으로 기대된다.

        최근 결빙으로 인한 교통사고가 빈번히 발생하고 있으며, 도로순찰시 육안 인식이 어려운 도로살얼음 검지를 위해 다양한 방식의 검지센서가 도입되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 국내외 상용화되어 있는 차량부착식 노면상태 검지센서에 대한 현장 검증을 통해 국내 도 로조건에의 적용 가능성을 검토하였다. 차량부착식 검지센서의 성능을 평가하기 위해 한국건설기술연구원의 연천SOC실증연구센터 내 의 도로기상재현 실험시설에 결빙(Ice), 습윤(Wet), 건조(Dry) 등 3가지의 노면상태가 육안으로 명확히 구분이 가능하도록 도로환경을 구현하였으며, 센서종류별로 차량에 부착하여 다양한 도로상태를 측정하였다. 평가결과 노면상태 측정결과의 정확도는 높은 것으로 나 타났으나, 그 외의 측정항목의 정확도는 상당한 차이가 발생하기도 하였다. 향후 다양한 도로환경 조건에서 추가적인 시험을 통해 차 량부착식 노면상태 검지센서의 현장적용을 기반자료로 활용할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

        In South Korea, the level of Highway Pavement Management System (HPMS) was developed since early 2000. During this time numbers of professional pavement condition monitoring equipment were developed and applied in the actual field. One of the remarkable results is 3D Pavement condition Monitoring profiler vehicle (3DPM) designed and developed in Korea Expressway Corporation Research Division (KECRD). Thanks to this equipment, The surface condition of current pavement can successfully be monitored and proper following management strategy cab be established. However, the inner condition of pavement layer cannot be monitored dur to limitation of 3DPM equipment. In this paper, Bending Beam Rheometer (BBR) mixture creep test was performed to verify the effectiveness of current 3DPM equipment. It was found that the current 3DPM equipment has reasonable feasibility on surveying pavement condition.

        PURPOSES : The purpose of this study is to provide basic data to improve the service life of asphalt pavement using basalt aggregate in Jeju Island by evaluating the performance of asphalt pavement through analysis of material and structural aspects. METHODS : To evaluate the performance of Jeju Island's asphalt pavement, cracks, permanent deformation, and longitudinal roughness were analyzed for the Aejo-ro road, which has high traffic and frequent premature damage. Cores were collected from Aejo-ro sections in good condition and damaged condition, and the physical properties of each layer were compared and analyzed. In addition, plate cores were collected from two sections with severe damage and the cause of pavement damage was analyzed in detail. RESULTS : About 45% of the collected cores suffered damage such as layer separation and damage to the lower layer. The asphalt content of surface layer in the damaged section was found to be 1.1% lower on average than that in the good condition section, and the mix gradations generally satisfied the standards. The density difference between the cores of each layer was found to be quite large, and the air voids was found to be at a high level. CONCLUSIONS : Test results on the cores showed that, considering the high absorption ratio of basalt aggregate, the asphalt content was generally low, and the high air voids of the pavement was believed to have had a significant impact on damage. High air voids in asphalt pavement can be caused by poor mixture itself, poor construction management, or a combination of the two factors. Additionally, the separation of each layer is believed to be the cause of premature failure of asphalt pavement.

        The public safety management guidelines were introduced in 2019 and continue to be dedicated to advancing comprehensive measures for public safety management, with a primary focus on prioritizing the safety and well-being of the public within governmental institutions. To achieve this goal, our previous study developed a establishment procedure of risk assessment-based safety inspection system for public institutions that order construction projects and applied it to highway construction projects to evaluate its effectiveness. To enhance the practicality of the establishment procedure, it is essential to collect and analyze feedback from stakeholders regarding its performance and suitability. This study conducted a survey involving 200 participants who had experience with the establishment procedure, and performed statistical analyses to evaluate its performance and applicability. The survey results indicated that the participants reported a high level of satisfaction (scoring 4 and above on a 5-point Likert scale) in several areas: specialization of safety inspection items for different types of work (with a satisfaction rate of 65%), the evaluation process for safety ratings (64.5%), and their willingness to recommend the procedure to other institutions (75.5%). In the factor analysis with Varimax rotation, two factors emerged: (1) a specialization factor related to safety inspection items, and (2) a grading factor associated with safety evaluation results. Regression analyses of these factors unveiled significant positive relationships with improvements in safety and health performance, including the prevention of fatal accidents, heightened safety responsibility, and raised safety inspection standards. The establishment procedure of safety inspection system developed in our previous study can play a crucial role in reducing accidents resulting in fatalities and injuries at construction sites, ultimately contributing to a safer working environment for all involved parties.

        PURPOSES : Traffic volume, an important basic data in the field of road traffic, is collected from traffic survey equipment installed at certain locations, which sometimes results in missing traffic volume data and abnormal detection. Therefore, this study presents various missing correction techniques using traffic characteristic analysis to obtain accurate traffic volume statistics. METHODS : The fundamental premise behind the development of a traffic volume correction and prediction model is to set the corrected data as the reference value, and the traffic volume correction and prediction process for the outliers and missing values in the raw data were performed based on the set values. RESULTS : The simulation results confirmed that the algorithm combining seasonal composition, quantile AD, and aggregation techniques showed a detection performance of more than 91% compared with actual values. CONCLUSIONS : Raw data collected due to difficulties faced by traffic survey equipment will result in missing traffic volume data and abnormal detection. If these abnormal data are used without appropriate corrections, it is difficult to accurately predict traffic demand. Therefore, it is necessary to improve the accuracy of demand prediction through characteristic analysis and the correction of missing data or outliers in the traffic data.

        PURPOSES : The evaluation of the low-temperature performance of an asphalt mixture is crucial for mitigating transverse thermal cracking and preventing traffic accidents on expressways. Engineers in pavement agencies must identify and verify the pavement sections that require urgent management. In early 2000, the research division of the Korea Expressway Corporation developed a three-dimensional (3D) pavement condition monitoring profiler vehicle (3DPM) and an advanced infographic (AIG) highway pavement management system computer program. Owing to these efforts, the management of the entire expressway network has become more precise, effective, and efficient. However, current 3DPM and AIG technologies focus only on the pavement surface and not on the entire pavement layer. Over the years, along with monitoring, further strengthening and verification of the feasibility of current 3DPM and AIG technologies by performing extensive mechanical tests and data analyses have been recommended. METHODS : First, the pavement section that required urgent care was selected using the 3DPM and AIG approaches. Second, asphalt mixture cores were acquired from the specified section, and a low-temperature fracture test, semi- circular bending (SCB) test, was performed. The mechanical parameters, energy-release rate, and fracture toughness were computed and compared. RESULTS : As expected, the asphalt mixture cores acquired from the specified pavement section ( poor condition – bad section) exhibited negative fracture performances compared to the control section (good section). CONCLUSIONS : The current 3DPM and AIG approaches in KEC can successfully evaluate and analyze selected pavement conditions. However, more extensive experimental studies and mathematical analyses are required to further strengthen and upgrade current pavement analysis approaches.

        PURPOSES : The numeric-based Highway Pavement Management System (HPMS), along with an advanced three-dimensional pavement condition monitoring profiler vehicle (3DPM), in South Korea has presented remarkable advancements in pavement management since the early 2000. Based on these results, visual distress on pavement surfaces can be easily detected and analyzed. Additionally, the entire expressway pavement surface conditions in South Korea can be easily monitored using the current graphical user interface-based advanced information graphic (AIG) approach. Therefore, a critically negative pavement section can be detected and managed more easily and efficiently. However, the actual mechanical performance of the selected pavement layer still needs to be investigated in a more thorough manner not only to provide more accurate pavement performance results but also to verify the feasibility of the current 3DPM and AIG approaches. In this study, the low-temperature performance of the selected asphalt pavement layer section was evaluated to further verify and strengthen the feasibility of the current 3DPM and AIG approaches developed by the Korea Expressway Corporation. METHODS : Based on 3DPM and AIG approach, the positive and negative-riding-quality road sections were selected, respectively. The asphalt material cores were extracted from each section then bending beam rheometer mixture creep test was performed to measure their low-temperature properties. Based on the experimental results, thermal stress results were computed and visually compared. RESULTS : As expected, the asphalt material from the negative driving performance section presented a poorer low-temperature cracking resistance than that from the positive driving performance section. CONCLUSIONS : Current 3DPM equipment can successfully evaluate expressway surface conditions and the corresponding material performance quality. However, more extensive experimental studies are recommended to verify and strengthen the findings of this study

        PURPOSES: Investigating road pavement conditions using an investigation vehicle is challenging especially if repeated driving is required on the by-lane, and the traffic in the investigation section is heavy. A technology used to investigate the road pavement conditions is studied herein using image data obtained by drone photography. METHODS : Flight plans were made for the survey areas, and ground control point measurements were performed. The research section was filmed using drones. The acquired image data were modeled using Pix4Dmapper. The images taken by the drones were used to investigate the road pavement cracks. A digital surface model was extracted from the Pix4Dmapper modeling results using the Global Mapper program to investigate plastic deformation and flatness. As regards plastic deformation, the elevation of each point was extracted at intervals of 50 cm and 10 cm in the longitudinal and lateral directions, respectively, for 20 m× 10 m of the entire road. In terms of flatness, the elevation values for each point were extracted at intervals of 5 cm and 10 cm for the wheel path and 20 m for the entire roadway. RESULTS: This study compared drone-captured images, which were consistent, and vehicle scan images and confirmed that the former can detect a large number of cracks on road surfaces. The results showing the difference in the elevation values of the road surface indicate that the section, wherein the plastic deformation occurs throughout the entire road surface, can be identified and evaluated. With regard to flatness, in future studies, the long-directional elevation value of the target segment extracted using Global Mapper is likely to be derived from the International roughness index, which is the international flatness index used in the ProVAL program developed and used by the Federal Highway Administration. CONCLUSIONS : The road pavement status investigation conducted herein by utilizing drone-acquired images showed that repeated driving in a section is not required, and various analyses can be made in a single shot. If technologies, such as artificial intelligence, big data, and Internet of Things, which are the key components of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, are adapted, they can be used to investigate road pavement conditions and inspect completely constructed road lines and major road facilities.

        대도시를 제외한 일반적인 지방소재 시‧군에서 관리하고 있는 지역도로의 경우, 장비조사 비용에 대한 경제적 부담과 협소한 도로 등 지역적 여건에 따라 정량적 장비조사를 활용한 유지관리에 어려움을 겪고 있는 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 지역도로 관리의 문제점을 극복하기 위하여 육안 조사를 통해 경제적이고 정략적 평가가 가능한 도로 포장상태 조사방안을 제시하고자 한다. 현장조사 수행 사진은 그림 1.과 같다. 일반적인 도로 현황 조사를 위하여 차량 내부에 캠코더를 설치하고 선정된 노선을 주행하면서 도로를 촬영하였으며, 영상 분석을 통해 도로의 기본정보, 시설물 등에 대하여 조사하였다. 또한, 도로 포장상태 조사를 위해 걸어 다니면서 육안으로 균열현황을 조사하였다. 신속하고 효율적인 육안조사를 위해 거리측정기를 이용하여 100m를 기준으로 선형균열(m), 면적균열(m2), 포트홀(갯수, m2)에 대한 균열현황을 조사하고, 조사결과를 이용하여 지역도로 평가지수(Local-road Pavement Condition Index,이하 LrPCI)와 균열률을 산출하여 포장상태를 평가하였다. 산업통상자원부에서 지원하는 공공기관연계 지역산업육성사업 ‘지역 도로관리 신산업 창조를 위한 기술개발(과제번호A016100014)’ 연구를 통해 개발된 LrPCI는 타 포장상태 평가지수 HPCI(고속도로), NHPCI(국도), SPI(서울시), MPCI(시단위)와 달리 균열률, 도로종류와 설계(제한)속도에 따른 개별 결함지수를 적용한 포장상태 지수이다. 기존의 포장상태 평가지수는 단일식으로 도로포장 상태를 평가하고 있으나 지역도로의 경우 지방도, 국도, 시도, 군‧면‧리도와 같이 다양한 도로가 존재하므로 동일조건의 평가방안을 적용하는 것은 무리가 있다고 판단되어 도로 특성을 고려한 포장평가방안을 개발하였다. 본 연구에서는 개발된 LrPCI와 장비조사 결과를 이용하여 경험식을 도출하였고, 이를 적용하여 포장상태를 평가하였다. ㅇㅇ시를 대상으로 육안조사를 통해 도로 포장상태 평가를 수행하였으며, 육안조사를 통한 도로포장상태 평가의 신뢰성 검증을 위해 같은 구간에서 자동포장 상태조사장비(KRISS)를 이용하여 포장상태를 조사한 후 결과를 비교‧분석하였다. 육안조사와 자동포장 상태조사장비의 균열률에 대한 비교‧분석 결과 평균 1.85% (최소0.03%, 최대9.99%) 차이로 매우 유사하게 나타나 균열률만 이용하여 포장 상태평가가 가능함을 알 수 있었다. 또한, 경제적인 면에서 육안조사는 장비조사의 약 30% 비용으로 수행이 가능하며, 신규 노동시장 창출에도 기여할 것으로 예상된다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 조사자의 안전을 위해 4차선 이하 지방도, 시도, 군‧면‧리도의 포장 상태조사는 육안조사로 대체 가능하며, 향후 육안조사 결과의 신뢰도 향상과 체계적인 조사체계 수립을 위한 추가 연구가 필요할 것으로 판단된다.
