The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between the regular selling price and nutrient contents of foods used for special medical purposes in Korea. This study investigated the regular selling price and nutritional composition of 114 enteral nutrition (EN) foods on the manufacturer’s internet homepage. The average price of the total products was 1,156.0 won/100 mL. The price of foods used for calorie and nutrient supplementation (CNS) was significantly higher compared to that of the other EN food types (p<0.01). With respect to the nutritional content per 100 mL of the product, EN foods for CNS had significantly higher contents of energy, protein, 5 minerals, and 7 vitamins than the other EN food types. On comparing the nutritional contents of foods according to the price, the balanced nutrition foods showed significantly higher contents of energy, carbohydrate, protein, 3 minerals, and 7 vitamins in high-priced products than in low-priced foods. Summarizing these results, foods for CNS were approximately twice as expensive as the other EN foods, and the energy, protein, mineral, and vitamin contents were also high. Balanced nutrition foods had higher nutrient contents in high-priced products, which showed the relationship between the product price and nutrient content.
Purpose : This study investigated the consumer satisfaction of the rehabilitation counseling via internet for parents of children with developmental disabilities aged under 6.
Methods : The web site for internet counseling (ddchild.com) consisted of 1,500-page information for educating children at risk, with mental retardation, autism, learning disabilities, and cerebral palsy. Internet counseling was conducted in the form of Q/A, real-time chatting, monthly interview, and search engine. The consumer survey form was dispatched to a total of 1,459 registered members and 91 (7%) of them replied to the survey. The survey included general information of the respondents, the types of disabilities they used mostly, their satisfaction level, criticisms and suggestions to this internet counseling.
Results : The general characteristics of the respondents were: (1) The users were distributed across the nation from Seoul and its vicinity (61%) to Cheju (1%); (2) The respondents’ 68% was middle or lower middle class; (3) The types of disabilities were children at risk including learning disabilities and ADHD (37%), autism (21%), mental retardation (21%), cerebral palsy(18.5%). The 68% of the respondents were satisfied with the internet counseling, and 65% actively used the data base consisted of rehabilitation information for educating children with developmental disabilities. Regarding the usage of the data base, 49% replied that this program was very helpful, because the instructions were described with concrete examples, 47.7% “helpful in understanding how to teach these children,” and 27.7% “in better understanding the behaviors of these children.” As to the suggestions, the respondents demanded two things. One is that the government build more schools and centers for educating these children along with more economic support, and the other requests are related to the operation of this internet counseling: enforcing of speech therapy program, opening of demonstration program with regard
to the usage of this system, and setting up a psychological counseling for the parents.
Conclusion : Operation of the internet counseling system can be a viable approach for providing early intervention programs for parents with developmental disabilities with low-cost effectiveness in the country where early intervention has not been systematically established.
The aim of this paper is to investigate the applicability of high spatial resolution remote sensing images for conducting the rural amenity resources survey. There are a large number of rural amenity resources and field reconnaissance without a sufficient preliminary survey involves a big amount of cost and time even if the data quality cannot always be satisfied with the advanced study. Therefore, a new approach should be considered like the state-of-the-art remote sensing technology to support field survey of rural amenity resources as well as to identify the spatial attributes including the geographical location, pathway, area, and shape. Generally high-resolution satellite or aerial photo images are too expensive to cover a large area and not free of meteorological conditions, but recently rapidly-advanced internet-based image services, such as Google Earth, Microsoft Bing maps, Bluebirds, Daum maps, and so on, are expected to overcome the handicaps. The review of the different services shows that Google Earth would be the most feasible alternative for the survey of rural amenity resources in that it provides powerful tools to build spatial features and the attributes and the data format is completely compatible with other GIS(Geographic information system) software. Hence, this study tried to apply the Google Earth service to interpret the amenity resources and proposed the reformed work process conjugating the internet-based high-resolution images like satellite and aerial photo data.
