        Nitrogen (N) loading from domestic, agricultural and industrial sources can lead to excessive growth of macrophytes or phytoplankton in aquatic environment. Many studies have used stable isotope ratios to identify anthropogenic nitrogen in aquatic systems as a useful method for studying nitrogen cycle. In this study to evaluate the precision and accuracy of denitrification bacteria method (Pseudomonas chlororaphis ssp. Aureofaciens (ATCC® 13985)), three reference (IAEA-NO-3 (Potassium nitrate KNO3), USGS34 (Potassium nitrate KNO3), USGS35 (Sodium nitrate KNO3)) were analyzed 5 times repeatedly. Measured the δ15N-NO3 and δ18O-NO3 values of IAEA-NO-3, USGS 34 and USGS35 were δ15N: 4.7±0.1‰ δ18O: 25.6±0.5‰, δ15N: -1.8±0.1‰ δ18O: -27.8±0.4‰, and δ15N: 2.7±0.2‰ δ18O: 57.5±0.7‰, respectively, which are within recommended values of analytical uncertainties. Also, we investigated isotope values of potential nitrogen source (soil, synthetic fertilizer and organic-animal manures) and temporal patterns of δ15N-NO3 and δ18O-NO3 values in river samples during from May to December. δ15N-NO3 and δ18O-NO3 values are enriched in December suggesting that organic-animal manures should be one of the main N sources in those areas. The current study clarifies the reliability of denitrification bacteria method and the usefulness of stable isotopic techniques to trace the anthropogenic nitrogen source in freshwater ecosystem.

        The nitrogen isotope value in both ammonium and nitrate ion were determined at 9 stations during both June and August 2016, in order to understand the origin of DIN at the Han river. δ15N-NO3 and δ15N-NH4 values in 8 stations (CP, SB, MHC, P4, SJ, SBC, P2, SC) were no significant variation. However δ15N-NO3 and δ15N-NH4 values in KK (Kyeongan stream) showed significant different in comparison with 8 stations, with an apparent increase of nitrogen isotope values. These results indicate that antropogenic nitrogen source influence on KK station. Also the δ13C and δ15N isotope ratio of phytoplankton (Diatom and Cyanobacteria) in KK (Kyeongan stream) showed heavier values, compared to other study stations. These results indicate that nitrogen isotope value in phytoplankton effects by different nitrogen source in study sites. These results suggest that the analysis of stable isotope ratios is a simple but useful tool for the identification of dissolved inorganic nitrogen origin in aquatic environments.

Many studies have used nitrogen stable isotope ratios to identify anthropogenic nitrogen in aquatic systems as a useful method for studying nitrogen cycle. In this study to evaluate the precision and accuracy of Kjeldahl processes, two reference materials (IAEA-NO-3, N-1) were analyzed repeatedly. Measured the δ¹⁵N-NO₃and δ¹⁵N-NH₄values of IAEA-NO-3 and IAEA-N-1 were 4.7±0.2‰ and 0.4±0.3‰, respectively, which are within recommended values of analytical uncertainties. Also, we investigated spatial patterns of δ¹⁵N-NO₃and δ¹⁵N-NH₄in effluent plumes from a waste water treatment plant in Han River, Korea. δ¹⁵N-NO₃and δ¹⁵N-NH₄values are enriched at downstream areas of water treatment plant suggesting that dissolved nitrogen in effluent plumes should be one of the main N sources in those areas. The current study clarifies the reliability of Kjeldahl analytical method and the usefulness of stable isotopic techniques to trace the contamination source of dissolved nitrogen such as nitrate and ammonia.

        To investigate the possibility of discrimination between organic and non-organic rice using stable isotope nitrogen of natural abundance, organic rice of 17 samples and non-organic rice of 13 samples grown at adjoining organic rice field were collected in 2008. Rice was grinded into brown rice, milled rice and hull, and samples were analysed for nitrogen and δ¹⁵N at NICEM. Authors also made inquiries about N source for both farmers who conduct organic- and non-organic rice cultivation. In order to know whether the δ¹⁵N can be used in discrimination between organic and non-organic rice, discriminant analysis were made with SPSS and logistic method. 1. Organic farmers used manure, rice bran, used mushroom culture, fermented fertilizer (company products), and oil cake, but non-organic farmers applied compound fertilizer. Rice straws were remained in organic rice field while moved out in non-organic field. 2. There were difference in δ¹⁵N among organic rice and its byproduct(7.760‰ in hull, 6.720‰ in rice), but significant difference was not found between them. And the trend was same between province. Non-organic rice showed similar results. 3. Significant difference of δ¹⁵N were found between organic rice and non-organic rice (p<0.01) and between hull of organic rice and that of non-organic rice hull (p<0.05). δ¹⁵N seemed to be useful criteria for discrimination of organic and non-organic rice. 4. When applied discrimination analysis of SPSS and logistic, there were significant difference between organic rice, non-organic rice and its byproducts except brown rice and hull in SPSS method. Hull can be used as the most useful component for unknown sample prediction with 83.3% probability.

        월동 후 녹비용 호밀에 시용한 질소가 콩의 질소고정 및 흡수에 미치는 효과를 보기 위하여, 2004년 온실 및 2005년 포장에서 포트시험을 통해 시비질소량별 토양, 호밀 및 콩의 질소회수율을 조사하였다. 1. 2004년 온실폿트 시험에서는 호밀에 시용한 질소비료 량이 증가할수록 호밀지상부가 토양에서보다 질소비료로부터 질소를 흡수하는 비율이 증가하였다. 호밀이 없는 조건에서는 논흙이 밭흙보다 콩의 건물 중 및 질소흡수량이 현저히 증가하였는데, 지력이 높았던 논흙에서는 밭흙에 비해 콩이 질소고정 유래 질소의 비율이 상대적으로 낮아지고 토양유래 질소의 비율이 높았다. 2. 밭흙에서 무녹비와 대비하였을 때 호밀녹비 이용 시의 콩 시비질소회수율은 낮았지만 토양의 시비질소회수율(질소유기화)이 높아 전체회수율은 높았으며, 또 호밀녹비 이용시 콩의 시비질소회수율은 호밀에 대한 질소시용량이 많을수록 증가하였다. 3. 2004년 온실포트 실험에서의 콩의 근류고정유래의 질소비율은 약 92~95% 로 2005년 포장포트에서의 82~84% 보다 약 10% 정도 높았으며, 콩의 근류고정유래 질소량 및 질소량 분획 추정에서는 2년 모두 Difference method와 15N method간 차이를 보이지 않았다.

        The nitrogen (N) absorption and partition of the rice plants are important indicators that can be used to improve the N use efficiency (NUE) of the plants. Improving the plant NUE can help to avoid nutrient waste that may cause environmental pollution. To investigate the N absorption and partition of the rice plants, Hwaseongbyeo (Japonica) and Dasanbyeo (indica/japonica) were applied with N fertilizers at the rates of 60, 120, and 180 kg N per ha in paddy field. Also micro plots of 0.81m2 were established inside each plot for application of 15N-labeled fertilizer. The differences in N utilization of the rice plants were associated with the total N absorption and partitioning after the heading stage. In the grain filling period, the increase of nitrogen content in the total and leaf blades of Dasanbyeo was higher than that of Hwaseongbyeo. Soil N was the main contributor for the increase of total N of Dasanbyeo during the grain filling period. The N fertilizer uptake rate of Hwaseongbyeo rapidly increased with the increment of N fertilization rate. In Dasanbyeo, N fertilizer uptakes were similar under all rates and times of N application. From heading stage to harvest, Dasanbyeo continued accumulating nitrogen, whereas Hwaseongbyeo had small changes. In conclusion, the difference in nitrogen absorption and partition after heading of the two cultivars was caused by the ability of Dasanbyeo to accumulate and remobilize soil nitrogen to the grains during the grain filling period.

        규소와 석회의 단독 및 병용효과 그리고 이들 상호작용을 보기 위하여 수행한바 결과는 다음과 같다. 1. 최고분얼기의 초장 및 분얼이 규소처리구에서 Control구에 비해 약간 증가를 보였다. 2. 주당수수에서 규소처리구는 약간 감소를 보였지만 수당립수 천립중 등숙율에 있어서는 규소 단독구와 규소+석회구에서 증가를 보였다. 3. 수량은 규소단독처리구가 Controlrn에 비해 15% 석회단독처리구가 13% 그리고 규소석회혼용구에서 22%의 증수를 보였다. 4. 수확한 수도체내 질소함량은 규소와 석회구에서 Control구에 비해 높은 함량을 보였으며 인산함량 적시 규소와 석회구에서 높은 경향을 보였고 가리함량은 경엽이나 수에서 규소와 석회처리구가 Control구에 비해 월등히 낮은 함량을 보였다. 그리고 규소와 석회함량 다같이 규소석회를 사용하므로서 각각 높은 함량을 보였고 특히 석회+규소병용구에서 높은 함량을 나타냈다.
