Using Service Dominant Logic (SDL) to place marketing research, this paper conceptualizes and empirically tests the triadic relationship of place branding, souvenir branding, and consumers‟ perceptions of souvenir brands. We propose place branding to be the dominant strategy that encompasses destination product branding and brand personalities of such brands.

The purpose of this research is to review the current situation of the support system in the process of achieving the Sixth Industrialization by exploring an intermediate support activity called “Sixth Industrialization Promotion Council on Food and Tourism in Southern Hokkaido.” In this case, several strategies have been developed for regional promotion, including organizing seminars, planning experience tours, supporting new product development and series of propaganda events, in which the council provides not only technics and funds but also advice to all the joined parties. In this way, it has been playing an essential role in promoting the sustainable development of the Sixth Industrialization regionally. Also, the council works as a control tower that cooperates and coordinates with other industries involved in tourism.

The joint international educational project has been developing between Hokkaido University and Jeju University based on reparations cases in both islands of tragedies. There are many reasons why I as a Japanese civil law/ reparations scholar have got interested in the Jeju tragedy: the need for building peace-making network, the historically- strong relationship between Jeju and Japan, and the continuity of violence between the Korean right-wing soldiers at the Jeju mass killing and the Japanese soldiers in the colonization era. The challenges of Jeju reparations are still immense: including most importantly, unfinished individual symbolic and economic reparations and the US responsibility. To attain true reconciliation, more Americans should know these past injustices in accordance with the theoretical framework/ process of reconciliation: (1) fact findings of past injustice and their recognition, (2) the admittance of historical responsibility (3) sincere apologies and supplementary reparations from perpetrators’ sides, and then (4) forgiveness from victims’ sides. As for the Jeju tragedy, international efforts towards this direction is imminently required.

홋카이도와 주변지역에 대한 유럽인들의 탐사와 지도 작업은 유럽인들의 동해와 한반도 인식에 중요한 역할을 하였다. 본 연구에서는 16세기와 17세기의 서양고지도에 나타난 이 지역의 표현 형태를 논의하였다. 16세기까지는 이 지역에 대한 유럽인의 지리적 인식 수준은 매우 미약하여 일본만 태평양 한 가운데에 표현하는 수준에 머물렀다. Angelis의 지도가 1621년 제작됨으로 홋카이도의 지도 제작은 새로운 전기를 맞이하였다. Dudley는 Angelis의 보고서를 인용하여 홋카이도에 대해 기술하였는데, 한반도와 홋카이도 의 상대적 위치에 대해 비교적 상세하게 기술하였다. 17세기 중반에는 Vries의 탐사 결과 쿠릴 열도의 한 섬을 아메리카와 동일시하게 되는 오류가 발생하였으며, 이는 이후 이 지역의 지도에 엄청난 영향을 미쳤다. 그래서 Vries 이후의 이 지역의 표현 형태를 여섯 가지 범주로 유형화하여 살펴보았다. 또한 Vries의 탐사와는 별도로 지도 오류의 원인을 Kaempfe가 유럽에 가져간 지도를 근거로 하여 살펴보았다.

In this study, the effect of slope length and angle at the entrance to fishing pots on the size of captured shrimp was examined to determine the optimal design of pots for use in Hokkaido, Japan. The purpose of the current study was to optimize the design of shrimp pots to allow greater control over the size of captured individuals for the purposes of shrimp resource management. Tank experiments were conducted to determine the optimal slope length and slope angle by analyzing the sizes of shrimp entering 10 model pots with combinations of five different slope lengths on slope angle of current shrimp pot, and five different angles on slope length of current shrimp pot. The results showed that, as the slope length of the pot increased, the size of individuals which entered the pot increased. In addition, as the slope angle was elevated in each of the five different slope angle treatments, the size of individuals entering was also increased.
