        In this study, we addressed the prevention of fire extinguishing device malfunction caused by noise in the fire detector of automatic fire extinguishing devices applied to mobile equipment such as armored vehicles and tanks. The automatic fire extinguishing system consists of a fire detection unit, an automatic control unit, and a fire suppression unit. In the case of a fire detector, it is a major component of the fire detection unit. Even though no fire occurred during operation in the field, a number of fire extinguisher sprays occurred, and the malfunction of the fire detector, which is a fire detection unit, was reproduced. The cause was identified as noise in the fire detector connector due to vibration and shock that may occur during operation of the mobility equipment. In order to solve this problem, noise generated momentarily from a fire detector is treated as an exception, and when a fire signal is transmitted from the fire detector to the automatic control unit for more than a certain period of time, Software has been improved to enable fire extinguishers to operate. This study analyzed the causes of malfunctions in automatic fire extinguishing devices, which are components of mobile equipment, and derived improvement measures to improve the reliability of automatic fire extinguishing devices.

        차세대 염기서열 분석(Next Generation Sequencing, NGS)은 대량의 병렬 데이터 생산으로 유전체의 염기서열 을 고속으로 분석하는 기술이며, 이 기술은 바이러스 유전체 분석에도 광범위하게 사용되고 있다. 하지만, 바이 러스의 전장 유전체가 100kb를 넘을 경우, 동일한 raw data라도 분석 방법 및 소프트웨어 그리고 매개변수 (parameter)에 따라 유전체의 크기와 구조가 다르게 결정된다. 따라서 유전체가 큰 바이러스 분석 시, 최적화된 NGS 분석 방법을 선택하는 것이 중요하다. 본 연구는 장수풍뎅이 누디바이러스(Oryctes rhinocerous nudivirus, 120kb) 유전체를 기반으로, 다양한 Assembly 소프트웨어(metaviralSPAdes, metaSPAdes, velvet, shovill, Geneious, megahit)를 사용하여, 최적화된 NGS 분석 방법을 고안하였다. Assembly 소프트웨어에 따라 바이러스 유전체 크기와 특징(Single Nucleotide Polymorphism, Insertion&Deletion, repetitive genomic variants)의 차이를 확인하였 다. Assembly 소프트웨어 간의 차이가 있는 염기서열은 Sanger sequencing을 통해 재확인하여, 참조 유전체 (reference sequence)를 구축하였다. 이 참조 유전체를 기반으로 가장 정확한 Assembly 소프트웨어와 parameter를 평가하였다. 본 연구는 분석 방법에 따라 달라지는 유전체의 특성을 이해하고, 바이러스 유전체를 정확하게 구축 하는 분석 파이프라인을 제공할 것으로 기대된다.

        이 연구는 중국의 이미지 처리 소프트웨어 메이투를 중심으로 하여 기 술수용이론을 적용하고 확장하여 중국 사용자들의 이미지 처리 소프트웨 어 사용 의도에 대한 가능성을 탐구하는 것이다. 이를 위해 설문조사 방 법을 사용하여 사회의 다양한 계층의 다양한 그룹을 조사하고 수집한 데 이터를 분석했다. 연구 결과는 사용자의 사용 의도에 영향을 미치는 것 으로 나타났으며, 특히 사용자의 편리성과 유용성에 더해, 호기심과 자아 형상 일치성도 메이투 사용자의 사용 의도에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것 으로 나타났다. 본 논문의 연구 결과는 메이투와 같은 이미지 편집 소프 트웨어의 개발과 운영에 가치 있는 통찰을 제공할 수 있다.

        본 연구에서는 한옥의 해석모델 구축을 지원하고, 구축된 해석모델의 활용도를 높이고자 이를 활용한 가상현실 소프트웨어를 개발 하였다. 한옥의 구조해석 모델은 범용 구조해석 소프트웨어인 midas Gen으로 생성하고, 이를 문자기반 입력파일로 변환한 후 본 연구 에서 개발된 소프트웨어에서 한옥 해석모델의 검토에 필요한 자료들을 저장한다. 개발된 가상현실 소프트웨어 내에서 3차원으로 표 현된 한옥의 해석모델은 시점을 변경하며 살펴볼 수 있고 특정 부재를 선택하여 관련된 자료를 확인할 수 있다. 이러한 과정을 통해 해 석모델의 오류를 확인 및 수정하여 완결된 해석모델을 구축할 수 있다. 개발된 소프트웨어는 3개의 한옥 사례에 적용하여 그 적용성 과 효용성을 검증하였으며, 구조분야 이외의 타 분야에서도 활용될 수 있다.

        According to the ‘Regulations on the Delivery of Low and Medium Level Radioactive Waste’, Notification No. 2021-26 of the Nuclear Safety and Security Commission, a history of radioactive waste and a total amount of radioactivity in a drum are mandatory. At this time, the inventory of radionuclides that make up more than 95% of the total radioactivity contained in the waste drum should be identified, including the radioactivity of H-3, C-14, Fe-55, Co-58, Co-60, Ni-59, Ni-63, Sr- 90, Nb-94, Tc-99, I-129, Cs-137, Ce-144, and total alpha. Among nuclides to be identified, gamma-emitting nuclides are usually analyzed with a gamma ray spectrometer such as HPGe. When a specific gamma-ray is measured with a detector, several types of peaks generated by recombination or scattering of electrons are simultaneously detected in addition to the corresponding gamma-ray in gamma-ray spectroscopy. Among them, the full energy peak efficiency (FEPE) with the total gamma energy is used for equipment calibration. However, this total energy peak efficiency may not be accurately measured due to the coincidence summing effect. There are two types of coincidence summing: Random and True. The random coincidence summing occurs when two or more gamma particles emitted from multiple nuclides are simultaneously absorbed within the dead time of the detector, and this effect becomes stronger as the counting rate increases. The true coincidence summing is caused by simultaneous absorption of gamma particles emitted by two or more consecutive energy levels transitioning from single nuclide within the dead time of the detector. This effect is independent of the counting rate but affected by the geometry and absolute efficiency of the detector. The FEPE decreases and the peak count of region where the energy of gamma particles is combined increases when the coincidence summing occurs. At the Radioactive Waste Chemical Analysis Center, KAERI, samples with a dead time of 5% or more are diluted and re-measured in order to reduce the random coincidence summing when evaluating the gamma nuclide inventory of radioactive waste. In addition, a certain distance is placed between the sample and the detector during measurement to reduce the true coincidence summing. In this study, we evaluate the coincidence summing effect in our apparatus for the measurement of radioactive waste samples.

        Nuclear power plants, like other national critical infrastructures, could be under the threat of terrorism or other malicious action. Thus, a nuclear power plant has a robust security system that includes security guards, sensors, barriers, access control systems, lights, and alarm stations with security procedures. However, an effective security system is hard to design because a chain is only as strong as its weakest link, and there could be a vulnerable hole even in the robust security system. Thus, an effective security system requires the evaluation of all possible scenarios. Evaluation software for security system effectiveness assists in systematically assessing all the possible attack scenarios. Many countries developed security effectiveness evaluation software. The first software was developed by the U.S. Sandia National Laboratories in the 1980s. Now there are several commercially available software packages with a function to simulate limited-scope combat between security guards and attacking enemies. However, academic communication is comparatively weak because it may contain sensitive information on the vulnerability of nuclear power plants. We developed original software called Tools for Evaluating Security Systems (TESS) to identify the most vulnerable path to the designated target and model the security systems of all South Korean nuclear power plants. We also used commercial security effectiveness evaluation software, AVERT, to model the same nuclear power plants. TESS was developed to verify the results of commercial security effectiveness evaluation software for the purpose of regulatory use. For the feasibility test, we compared the results of two software with those of force-on-force (FoF) exercises in nuclear power plants. According to the relevant Act, every nuclear power plant site should perform the FoF exercises every year. KINAC was in charge of evaluating the FoF exercise and used several of its results for the study. In the results, even in some differences in detail, the two software and FoF exercises showed qualitative similarity. Conclusively, evaluation software is a useful tool to design and/or assess the security systems of nuclear power plants. We modeled the security systems of all South Korean nuclear power plants, and compared the developed software, a commercial software and FoF exercises. The results showed qualitative similarity. We provided the results of evaluation to nuclear operators for the better security of nuclear power plants.

        Deforestation and poverty in developing countries are critical ongoing issues. Forests provide a broad spectrum of benefits and services to millions of people, and more than $14 billion has been globally spent on the Forestry Official Development Assistance 2000-2019. The purpose of this study was to empirically analyze the effect of forestry ODA on the economic development and forest conservation policies of 87 major recipient countries, using panel data from the OECD DAC CRS, and the World Bank WBI 2003-2018. Herein, fixed effect and random effect models were applied, to 1,392 observed panel data using the R software. Results are as follow. First, results show that the forestry ODA has a positive and statistically significant effect on forest conservation. The higher the forest-dependent country, the greater the positive effect. On the other hand, the forestry ODA does not have a positive effect on the economic development of the recipient country. As the positive effect of the forestry, ODA has been verified; it is necessary to continuously increase international cooperation projects as well as financial support, in line with these international trends. Additionally, results suggest a joint and integrated project with the agriculture as well as forestry sectors because forest areas and farmlands area have a close negative ( ) relationship. Thus, the results provide substantial evidence for supporting as well as establishing, a solid momentum of international cooperation policies in the forest sector.

        Since 2017, the Korea Institute of Nuclear Nonproliferation and Control (KINAC) has been implementing State System of Accounting for and Control of Nuclear Materials (SSAC) training courses for the nuclear Newcomer States. This IAEA SSAC course for Newcomer States aims to provide overall concepts and techniques, particularly on nuclear material accountancy and control systems, and address future challenges with regard to developing new nuclear power plants. Due to the restricted travels and limited in-person access to training and facilities from the COVID-19 pandemic, however, a new software was developed to substitute a technical tour on bulk handling facility (BHF) of the training course, and the course was favorably shifted to online in 2021. This newly built training software allows participants to follow each step of the technical process at a virtual bulk handing facility, and provides a video tour for such conditions where the software is found difficult to operate. Another feature of the development is a security function that prevents access of unauthorized users to the software. The achievement is expected to strengthen the SSAC of Newcomer States and ensure the practical implementation of safeguards from the initial stage of their novel nuclear power program through cooperation with IAEA. This contribution of the Republic of Korea (ROK) as one of the leading countries in the field of nuclear nonproliferation will further extend the partnership between IAEA and ROK and promote cooperation with the Newcomer States.

        The distinction between software expression protected by copyright law and software functionality not protected by copyright law is often elusive. Accordingly, we analyze what the U.S. Supreme Court’s Decision in a program copyright lawsuit between Google and Oracle suggests about the direction of copyright protection for the latest software. Next, we will try to find an appropriate balance between the scope of protection of patent and copyright for software. To this end, we look at ways to increase the expertise of judges to clearly determine the boundaries of the protection scope of patents and copyrights for software. Nevertheless, as for software, overlapping protection of patent and copyrights may inevitably occur. For this, we look at ways to resolve the inconsistency between the protection period of patent and copyrights. Lastly, we will look at the special law for areas not protected by patent and copyright laws.
