지금 청소년들은 여러 가지 부담과 짐스러움을 강요하는 가정질서, 의미 없는 성취 억압과 스트레스를 제공하는 학교제도, 청소년들의 창의력을 무디게 만들고 억압하는 단조로운 직업세계로 둘려 싸여있다. 그래서 청소년들은 그들의 삶의 세계로부터 벗어나서, 그들의 고유한 시간, 고유한 공간, 고유한 언어, 고유한 의식 등으로 이루어지는 자신들만의 문화 속으로 도피하고 있다. 이와 같은 현상은 대중매체에 의하여 확대 조장될 뿐만 아니라 가상공간의 활용이라는 문화작용 속에서 지속적으로 진행되고 있다. 청소년들이 미래 사회의 건강한 열린 존재로서 그 역할을 다할 수 있도록 도와주기 위해서는 청소년에 대한 건강한 이해가 필요하다. 이에 이 연구에서는 청소년들의 시간과 공간과 언어 등 세 가지 인간학적 측면에 근거하여 청소년 이해의 실마리를 제시하고 그들의 열린 가능성을 제고해보았다.

Anthropology is the study of human being, and builds on knowledge from philosophy and social sciences, as well as the humanities and the natural sciences. This paper examines the youth as a philosophical anthropology under the view of Otto Friedrich Bollnow in the name of time, place, and language. From this perspective, we can conclude the youth is a genuinely independent existence, and the best period of transition from the dependence of childhood to independence of adulthood. The youth is a fluid period and free-flight existence. To achieve a world where the youth can live healthy and fulfilling lives, it is necessary that governments, society, and the youth themselves have to promote policies and programs that support universal and lifelong approach to quality future-oriented education.
