        A 2-month-old Turkish Angora cat presented with multiple skin masses after first vaccination and spot-on antiparasitic treatment. There was no hair loss or pruritis, and tests revealed negative for the feline leukemia and immunodeficiency viruses. Biopsy revealed densely packed eosinophils in sparse dermal tissue with a few mast cells. These lesions did not respond promptly to prednisolone treatment, but they regressed without relapse over the following month, despite sequential vaccinations and anti-parasitic treatment. The present case is interesting considering the rarity of multiple eosinophilic granuloma development in a very young cat with a recent history of vaccination and antiparasitic treatment.

        Red-Green-Blue (RGB) imagery techniques are useful for both forecasters and public users because they are intuitively understood, have advantageous visualization, and do not lose observational information. This study presents a novel RGB convective cloud product and its application to tropical cyclone analysis using Communication, Oceanography, and Meteorology (COMS) satellite observations. The RGB convective cloud product was developed using the brightness temperature differences between WV (6.75 μm) and IR1 (10.8 μm), and IR2 (12.0 μm) and IR1 (10.8 μm) as well as the brightness temperature in the IR1 bands of the COMS, with the threshold values estimated from the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) radar observations and the EUMETSAT RGB recipe. To verify the accuracy of the convective cloud RGB product, the product was applied to the center positions analysis of two typhoons in 2013. Thus, the convective cloud RGB product threshold values were estimated for WV-IR1 (−20 K to 15 K), IR1 (210 K to 300 K), and IR1-IR2 (−4 K to 2 K). The product application in typhoon analysis shows relatively low bias and root mean square errors (RMSE)s of 23 and 28 km for DANAS in 2013, and 17 and 22 km for FRANCISCO in 2013, as compared to the best tracks data from the Regional Specialized Meteorological Center (RSMC) in Tokyo. Consequently, our proposed RGB convective cloud product has the advantages of high accuracy and excellent visualization for a variety of meteorological applications.

        In this study, pitch crosslinked by oxygen function groups was made into activated carbon (AC) and pore structure was observed. The oxygen functional groups were introduced by the addition of waste PET for pitch synthesis. Activation agent ratios used to obtain the AC during the activation process were 1:1, 1:2 and 1:4 (pitch:KOH, w/w). The oxygen content in the prepared pitch was characterized by elemental analysis. Also, the molecular weight of pitch was investigated by MALDITOF. Specific surface area and micropore volume of the prepared AC were determined by the argon adsorption–desorption analysis and calculated using the Brunauer–Emmett–Teller and Horvath–Kawazoe equations, respectively. Micropore fraction of PET-free AC was smaller than that of PET-added AC. At high activation agent ratio, mesopores were created when the micropore structure collapsed. However, in the PET-added AC, due to the oxygen crosslinking effect, the micropore structure and micropore size were maintained even at a high activation agent ratio. Therefore, PET AC was found to have a higher micropore fraction than that of PET-free AC.

        To prepare activated carbon with a high specific surface area, oxygen functional groups (OFGs) that can serve as useful electron donors during KOH activation were treated with nitric acid and incorporated into activated carbon. OFGs are incorporated differently according to the surface characteristics of starting materials. Up to 22.46% OFGs are incorporated into wood-based activated carbons (WACs), the C=O, COOH contents was 1.90, 17.05%, respectively. Whereas up to 12.82% OFGs are incorporated into coconut shell-based activated carbons, the C=O, COOH contents was 4.12, 6.15%, respectively. The OFGs used for increasing the specific surface area are the carbonyl group, and as the content of the functional group increases, the carbonyl group spreads to the carboxyl group. The specific surface area of activated carbons increased by 10–68% with an increase in the carbonyl group up to 6% (maximum point of carbonyl group). On the other hand, the specific surface area for WACs increased when the carboxyl group was 10% or below, but decreased by 6–15% when it increased to 10% or excess.

        In this study, commercial activated carbons (ACs) were upgraded by different activation methods, and the gases generated during the activations were defined and quantified. The chemical activation commonly applied for upgrading ACs uses complex reactions, involving pyrolysis, physical, and chemical reactions. The ACs based on wood materials were characterized by elemental analysis, N2 physisorption, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and temperature-programmed desorption mass spectrometry. The patterns and composition of the generated gases were analyzed by gas chromatography and X-ray diffraction; high-resolution scanning electron microscopy was also used to characterize the activated carbon. The AC was mostly decomposed to CO2 by pyrolysis and physical activation, while CO was mainly detected during chemical activation from the K2CO3 produced by the reactions between CO2 and K2O. The detected amounts of generated gases were differed at various KOH ratios and residence times. The highest surface area obtained in this study was 2000 m2/g at the optimum ratio of AC and KOH (1:2).

        경기도농업기술원에서는 2016년도에 고온기 생육 및 개화 특성이 우수한 절화용 스프레이 국화 ‘Perky Star’ 품종을 개발 하였다. 2012년도에 화색이 진한 노란색이면서 좁고 긴 설상화를 가진 ‘Sei-vista’ 품종을 모본(♀)으로, 화형이 좋은 ‘Amisa’ 품종을 부본(♂)으로 인공교배를 하였고 2014년부터 2016년까지 억제재배, 촉성재배, 가을재배 작형에서 생육 및 개화특 성을 검정하였다. 2016년 기호도 조사를 통해 최종적으로 GCS12-81-150계통을 선발하여 ‘Perky Star’로 명명하였고 2017 년에 국립종자원에 품종보호출원(제2017-64호)한 후 2018년에 품종보호권이 등록(제7465호)되었다. ‘Perky Star’ 품종은 노란 색 홑꽃형으로 고온에서 화색발현과 생육이 좋았으며 꽃잎이 두꺼워 여름철 수출품종으로 적합하다고 판단되었다. 가을재 배작형, 억제작형, 촉성작형에서 단일처리 후 개화소요일 수는 각각 49, 49, 53일, 절화장은 88.3, 84.2, 103.3cm, 꽃의 직경은 5.1, 4.8, 4.8cm, 줄기당 착화수는 25.0, 21.5, 38.8개로 고온에서 절화장과 착화수가 증가하는 경향을 보였다. 흰녹병 에 완전한 저항성을 갖지는 못한 품종이며, 자연개화 작형에서 절화수명은 21.3일로 대조품종 20.2일에 비해 조금 길었고, 5점 척도로 기호도를 조사한 결과 4.2점으로 대조품종 4.1과 비슷한 선호도를 보였다.

        4차 산업혁명은 인공지능으로 대처할 수 없는 인간의 창의성과 의사소통 능력 개발을 위한 교육 체계의 변화가 필요하다. 현재 교육 시스템은 사실과 절차에 기반을 둔 구조로써 지식을 창의적으로 활용하는 시스템으로의 변화를 요구한다. 로봇과 인공지능 기계들의 영역에서 벗 어난 창조성 개발은 4차 산업혁명 시대의 핵심요소이다. 본 연구는 토론학습과 영어 앱 읽기를 통하여 창조성 개발에 미치는 효과를 검증하고자 한다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 끊임없이 변화하는 4차 산업혁명 시대의 차세대교육을 위한 해결 방안은 오직 인간의 창의성 재능 개발에 달려있다. 이 시대의 교육 방향은 창의적인 능력을 함양할 수 있는 학습을 목표로 해야 한다. 둘째, 토론학습은 4차 산업 혁명 시대에 필수 요소인 의사소통 기술, 팀 워크 기술, 분석 기술, 윤리적 기술의 기초가 된다. 토론학습은 문제 해결 능력과 기획 및 비판적 사고 능력을 향상시켜 창의성 개발의 근원이 된다. 셋째, Lingbe, Memrise, HelloTalk 등과 같은 영어 앱을 통한 독서는 창의성 개발에 효과적이다. 읽기 학습 은 학습자의 생각과 상상력을 풍부하게 하여 사물을 새롭고 독창적인 방식으로 이해하게 한다. 즉 학습자 스스로 논리적 사고로 자신의 가치관을 형성하고 대상에 대해 새롭게 판단하며 문제 해결할 수 있는 능력을 함양하게 된다. 상상력은 창의성의 기초이며 토론과 영어 어플 읽기는 비판적 사고 논리와 논리를 사용하기 때문에 창의력 개발의 기본이 된다.

        In regard to upgrading the teaching sylabus on Advance Training Program of Architecture courses, we would like think about what some of the main drivers of the effort were here: 1) to promote more research in the design studios (which also meant making them longer in duration, to accommodate the research phase); 2) integrate related analyses and syntheses by using diagrams and diagram models for analysis of precedents and synthesis of new work; 3) setting up concurrent related coursework, especially related to green design, but also across the curriculum, at every opportunity, so that lectures and studios can support each other more and 4) creating a portfolio review framework to identify and address problems individual students are having at the end of the 2nd year and the end of 4th year. If these ideas are applied to publish a new training program of architecture, they will bring out many advantages to both the university and the student. Furthermore, new university campuses in Vietnam will find suitable for applying to the new course.

        This paper explores a group of lexical bundles identified in a corpus of research article (RA) introductions in applied linguistics written by native speakers of English and second Korean learners of English for Academic Purposes (EAP). In a further step in this analysis these lexical bundles were matched to the moves and steps which fulfill communicative functions of RA introductions (Swales, 2004). The findings show that considerably different lexical bundles were used in each step in the two corpora while some lexical bundles were exclusively identified in one step in a move. In addition, it was found that two groups of writers have different priorities for selecting lexical bundles in terms of function in each move/step. This study provides pedagogical implications by establishing English experts’ bundle-move connection as a yardstick for EAP writing instruction. Longitudinal analysis of the emerging patterns is needed in the future studies.

        During the winter of 2017/2018, significantly low water temperatures were detected around the western and southern coasts of Korea (WSCK). In this period, sea surface temperature (SST) in the Korea Waters was about 2℃ lower than mean temperature. Using the real-time observation system, we analyzed the temporal variation of SST during this period around the western and southern coasts. Low water temperature usually manifested over a period of about 10 ~ 20 days. The daily Arctic oscillation index was also similarly detectable with the variation of SST. From the cross-correlation function, we compared two periodic variations, which were SST around the WSCK and the Arctic oscillation index. The cross correlation coefficients between both variations were approximately 0.3 ~ 0.4. The time lag of the two time series was about 6 to 7 days. Therefore, significanlyt low water temperatures during winter in the Korean coastal areas usually became detectable 6 to 7 days after the negative peak of Arctic oscillation.
