Our results showed that indoor radon concentrations were 2 to 3 times higher than outdoor but those results were not significantly attributed from gypsum contents in the building material. Indeed, phosphate content in gypsum board did not significantly play a role in indoor radon level variations. 서 론 산림생태계 내에는 다양한 생물들이 그들이 위치한 먹이 사슬 내에서 각각 고유한 기능을 수행하면서 공존하고 있다 (Patton, 1992). 하지만 그러한 생태계는 인간에 의해 줄어 들고 파괴되고 있는 실정이다. 이러한 서식지의 파괴는 생 물 다양성을 위협하는 가장 큰 이유 중 하나이다(Wilcove et al., 1986; Webb and Shine, 1997). 또한 야생동물들의 지속적인 서식을 보장하고 유지하기 위해서는 포유동물 중 저차소비자의 위치를 차지하고 있는 설치류의 지속적인 존 재의 필요성과 더불어 서식에 관한 기초자료의 수집이 불가 피하다(정과 이, 2004). 소형설치류는 산림생태계 내에서 저차소비자와 고차소 비자를 연결하는 중요한 역할을 하고 있는 종으로서, 생활 사가 매우 짧고 서식환경에 따라 쉽게 증가하거나 감소하기 때문에 환경변화에 매우 민감하다. 따라서 생태계의 주요 구성원으로 중요한 역할을 한다. 특히 먹이사슬에서 상위에 위치한 육식동물의 먹이가 되며 또한 다양한 식물의 종자를 산포하는 역할을 하기도 한다(Marser et al., 1978; Forget and Milleron, 1991). 지금까지 설치류는 다양한 서식환경과의 관계를 알아보 기 위한 연구대상으로 많이 이용되어 왔다(원, 1967; Kawamichi, 1996). 특히 수계주변 소형 포유류의 서식지 선호도 비교(정과 이, 2004), 국립공원에서의 설치류의 서식 밀도(조, 2008), 설치류와 하층식생에 관한 연구(임과 이, 2001), 산림내에서 설치류의 서식지 분석(Menzel et al., 1999), 서식환경에 따른 개체군의 분산(Saitoh and Nakatsu, 1993) 등에 관한 연구가 수행되었다. 본 연구는 덕유산 국립공원의 각 조사구에 서식하고 있는 설치류의 서식밀도를 조사하고, 유형별 개체군의 군집특성, 설치류를 먹이자원으로 하는 상위 포식자에 대한 먹이원 적정지수를 산출하여 중·대형 포유동물의 서식 및 생존을 위해서 반드시 필요한 먹이 공급원인 소형설치류에 대한 자료를 제시하기 위해 실시하였다. 연구내용 및 방법 1. 조사지 선정 본 연구대상지인 덕유산국립공원은 전형적인 내륙산악 지형으로서 전라북도 무주군과 장수군, 경상남도 거창군과 함양군의 2도 4군에 걸쳐 나누어져 있으며, 총 면적이 231.650㎢에 달한다. 조사지 선정은 덕유산을 대상으로 ArcGIS 분석기법을 사용하여 분석결과를 바탕으로 환경요건이 높은지역 내에 야생동물의 먹이원으로 잠재성이 있는 소형포유류를 다루 는 최소한의 조사면적인 1개의 조사구 10ha를 설정하고, 면적대비 10%인 0.5ha의 고정조사구 2곳을 설치하였다. 2. 조사 기간 및 포획방법 조사기간은 2010년 5월부터 2010년 12월까지 덕유산국 립공원 일원 3개 지역 6개 방형구에서 채집하였다. 각 조사 지역 내 10m 간격으로 생포트랩(Sherman's trap, Sherman Co. US)을 설치하였으며, 지형 여건상 조사구를 설치하기 힘든 경우는 조사구 크기를 지형 여건에 맞게 조정하여 실 시하였다. 포획은 개체의 특성을 고려하여 야간에 활동성이 높은 설치류의 생태를 고려하여 일몰 전에 생포트랩을 설치하고 일출 전 트랩을 회수하였다. 3. 분석항목 분석방법에는 서식밀도분석과 Petersen 방법으로 개체군 크기를 산정하였다. 또한 신남식 등(2009)의 지수산출방법 에 의거하여 서식밀도를 추가하여 일반적인 산술평균법 (arithmetic mean)을 사용하여 먹이원적정지수를 산출하였다. 결과 및 고찰 1. 조사지별 포획결과 덕유산국립공원 3개 지역 6개 방형구에서 포획한 설치류 는 총 360개체로 그중 비단털들쥐가 242개체(67.22%)가 포획되었으며, 흰넓적다리붉은쥐 70개체(19.44%) , 등줄쥐 48개체(13.33%)순으로 포획되었다. 가장 많은 개체수가 포 획된 지역은 구천 site2로 98개체, 가장 작은 개체수가 포획 된 지역은 상조 site2로 16개체가 포획되었다(Table 1). 다른 지역에 비해 구천동 지역에서 비단털들쥐가 많이 포획되었다. 구천동지역은 낙엽활엽수림이 우점한 혼효림 의 환경과 더불어 인위적인 간섭이 비교적 적은 곳으로 보 이며, 이러한 결과는 설치류의 번식과 먹이공급에 좋은 서 식환경을 제공하는 요소(나뭇가지, 돌무더기, 굵은 나무 잔 해)(Wang et al., 2002)와 비단털쥐아과가 최근 새롭게 재조 성된 산림에서의 서식을 선호하지 않는 것(Mills, 1995)에 관련이 있을 것으로 사료된다. 이와 반대로 가장 작은 개체수가 포획된 상조 지역은 과 거 민가가 있었으며, 개간한 흔적이 남아있는 지역으로 조 사지역은 해발 550m의 계단식 묵정논과 계곡 등이 형성된 사면부가 있고, 잎갈나무 조림지가 우점하고 있다. 침엽수 인 잎갈나무 군락과 농로를 따라 사람의 왕래가 잦은 농경 지역에서는 하층식생이 절대적으로 부족하고, 낙엽층의 발 달이 아주 빈약하기 때문에 이는 설치류의 서식제한요인(신 등, 2009)으로 작용되었다고 판단된다. 2. 월별에 따른 조사지별 개체수 분석 덕유산국립공원 3개 조사지역에서 5월에서 12월까지의 월별 개체수를 보면 5월부터 월별로 증가를 보이다 7월에 가장 높은 개체수를 나타내었고, 8월부터 12월까지 점차 개체수의 감소를 보였다(Fig. 2). 8월의 급격한 개체수의 감소는 7~8월의 강수량 증가로 굴과 보금자리가 유실되었을 것으로 보이며, 9월 이후 보여주는 꾸준한 감소는 이 등 (2009)의 설치류의 행동패턴 연 구자료에서 보여지는 겨울철의 낮은 행동권 결과와 먹이부 족 및 외부기온 저하에 대비하여 에너지를 절약하기 위해 일중휴면 시간을 증가시키기 때문인(윤과 한, 2006)것으로 판단된다. 3. 개체군 밀도 분석 1)지역별 소형포유류 서식밀도 각 지역별 설치류의 0.5ha당 서식밀도를 보면 구천 site2, site1이 14, 13.6으로 가장 높은 수치를 나타내었고, 벌한마 을 site2, site1이 각각 8.7, 7.7, 상조마을 site1, site2에서 5.1, 2.3 순으로 나타났다. 구천동 지역은 산림의 수계주변 과 인접해 있고 낙엽활엽수가 우점하여 있으며, 인위적인 간섭의 영향이 가장 미치지 않은 지역으로 다른 지역보다 샘플면적에 비례하여 많은 개체수가 포획되었다(Table 2). 2)개체군 크기 포획 재포획법은 개체군을 평가하는 모델로 학술연구에 많이 쓰인다. Petersen의 방법에 따라 밀도 산출방법을 사용 한 지역별 개체군의 크기를 보면 벌한 site1에서 16개체로 가장 높은 수치를 나타내었으며, 그 다음으로 구천 site1에 서 12개체, site2에서 8.8개체, 벌한마을 site2에서 6.4개체 로 확인되었고, 상조마을 site1에서 1.5개체, site2에서 1개 체로 낮은 수치를 보였다(Table 3). 중·대형 포유류의 먹이 원이 되는 풍부한 설치류 밀도와 분포는 중·대형 포유류를 위한 서식지 결정 가운데 하나의 중요한 요소로서 반영될 것이다(신 등, 2009) 4. 먹이원 적정지수(FSI) 덕유산국립공원의 먹이자원 비교를 위하여 구천, 상조, 벌한의 소형포유류의 군집분석결과를 바탕으로 분류하였 고 각각에 대한 적정지수(SI)를 작성하였으며, 작성방법에 있어 가장 높은 다양도, 균등도, 풍부도, 서식밀도에 대한 수치를 1로 정하고 나머지 지역은 상대치로서 계산하였다 (Table 4). 각 지역별로 먹이원 적정지수를 산출한 결과, 벌한 site2 가 0.81로 가장 높게 나타난 것으로 보아 저차소비자가 되 는 설치류의 풍부함으로 인하여 이를 먹이자원으로 활용하 는 중·대형 포유류의 서식이 불가피할 것으로 보이며, 쉽게 먹이자원을 획득할 수 있을 것으로 보인다. 이와 같이 설치류의 높은 다양도를 유지하기 위해서 서식지 다양성의 유지와 더불어 인공으로 조림되지 않은 산림의 식생을 유지하면 야생동물의 풍부도와 다양도는 증가하게 될 것으로 보이며, 이러한 설치류의 서식을 유지, 관리하는 것은 이들 설치류에 의존하여 서식하게 하는 다른 야생동물 에 있어서도 중요한 의미라 할 수 있다(Cockle and Richardson, 2003). 나아가 계절별로 설치류의 개체군 변이를 분석하고, 강수 량, 기온, 지온, 토양수분, 증발량 등 기상학적인 요인과 병 행해서 조사를 수행하는 것이 필요할 것으로 사료된다. 또 한 장기적으로 이를 포식하는 피식자의 복원연구에도 이와 같은 연구를 통하여 합리적인 복원방안을 모색할 수 있을 것으로 보인다. 인용문헌 신남식, 윤희정, 유병호, 양병국, 권수완, 주승진, 용환율, 어경연. 2009. 토종여우(Vulpes vulpes)의 인공증식 및 자연생태계 복 원기술 개발. 환경부 원병휘. 1967. 한국동식물도감 제 7권(포유류). 문교부. 서울. 659 윤명희, 한창욱. 2006. 등줄쥐(Apodemus agrarius)의 일중휴면에 관한 연구.
