        Durable softening water repellents such as PODCWs were prepared by blending cationized compound of poly(octadecyl methacrylate-co-2-diethylaminoethyl methacrylate), of which synthetic methods were reported in the previous paper, activated polythylene, waxes, and emulsifiers. Water repellency of prepared PODCWs was measured by performing water repellent finish to various fabrics, PODCWs showed a good water repellency for P/C blended fabrics and their repelling tendency was in the order of P/C blended fabrics〉cotton fabrics〉nylon taffeta. The initial water repellencies of PODCW-1 and PODCW-2 were 100 and 100- points, respectively, for P/C blended fabrics. And also, PODCW-1 and PODCW-2 were confirmed as durable water repellents with the results of making little difference of water repellency as ±5 point after and before washing.

        1, 3-Di(2-dodecanoylaminoethyl)-2, 7-dioxy-1, 3, 6, 8-tetraazacyclodecane[DDTD] and sorbitan monostearate(SMS) were synthesized as a main component for softner. O/W type softner(DSA) was prepared by blending of DSA, SMS, polyoxyethylene(10) castor oil, glyceryl monooleate, and polyoxyethylene(7) stearyl ether. After treatment of DSA to all cotton fabrics, the physical properties such as tear strength, crease recovery, and flexing abrasion resistance were measured. As a result of the measurement, DSA was found to be durable softner with good softness.

        Two aromatic polysulfones, poly(PhC-co-SDA)-2 and poly(TPhC-co-SDA)-2, were synthesized by interfacial polycondensation of phthaoyl chloride(PhC) and terephthaloyl chloride(TPhC) with P, P'-sulfonyldianiline(SDA), respectively. The properties of the aromatic polysulfones synthesized were as follows : inherent viscosity, 0.32~0.35dL/g:glass transition temperature, 220~240℃:tensile strength, 308~336Kg/cm2:and 5% weight loss temperature by TGA thermogram in the air, 500~530℃. As the result, thermal properties of the synthesized copolymers proved to be excellent.

        To prepare a durable softening water repellent, quaternized octadecyl methacrylate-2-diethyl-aminoethyl methacrylate as a mother resin and quaternized 1, 3-dioctadecyl-2, 7-dioxy-6, 8-di(2-hydroxyethyl)-1, 3, 6, 8-tetraazacyclodecane which increase the softening effect and the hydrostatic pressure blended with waxes and their emulsifier in various proportions to give water repellent PADWC. As the results of the measurement of water repellency, washable, tear strength and crease recovery to polyestercotton(P/C) blended fabrics treated with PADWC only or addition of textile finishing resin, the physical properties were increased. There was no significant lowering effect in water repellency when PADWC was treated the antistatic agent by the one-bath method, and the effect of water repellency by the adding the catalyst was studied. PADWC was confirmed as durable water repellent with the results of making little difference of water repellency as ±5 point after and before washing.

        Spin finish(SF) for nylon filament was prepared. The influence on the properties of filament obtained by treating the prepared spin finish in this study(SF-2) and foreign-made spin finish(Spinnar N-100) was compared. SF-2 prepared by blending of spindle oil 70g, paraffin wax 10g, glyceryl mono-oleate 5g, POE(6) nonylphenyl ether 4g, POE(10) nonylphenyl ether 4g, POE(10) octylphenyl ether 2g, POE(14) mono-oleate 4g and water 1g was excellent in its characteristics. Some of the properties of Nylon filament treated with SF-2 were better than those treated with Spinnar N-100. Also, optimal physical conditions of nylon filament according to the number of revolution of oil roller were obtained at conditions of 5rpm of number of revolution oil roller, 1.25% of SF-2 oil pick up, and denier 69D.

        To prepare a O/W type durable softner(OESA), octadecamidoethylaminoethyl dodecate and tetra (2-dodecamidoethyl) urea synthesized as the main components of softner, were blended with polyoxyethylene(20) oleyl ether, sorbitan sesquioleate, and polyoxyethylene(7) stearyl ether in various compositions. Emulsion stability of OESA was good, and mixed HLB value was 9.7, OESA was found was to be good durable softner for nylon through the examination of softness, lubriation, antistatic property, bending resistance, and color fastness.

        Some weight loss accelerating agents, dodecyltrimethylammonium chloride(DTAC), dodecyltrimethylammonium bromide(DTAB), dodecyldimethylammonium chloride(DDBAC), polyoxyethylene(2) dodecylbenzylammonium chloride(PDBAC), and 1-(2-hydroxyethyl)-1-benzyl-2-undecylimidazolinium chloride(AEUIC), were synthesized. As a result of weight loss treatment of the weight loss accelerating agents with NaOH to PET fiber, the increase of weight loss was the order of PDBAC > DDBAC > DTAC > DTAB > AEUIC. Among the weight loss accelerating agents, AEUIC hardly showed weight loss effect, and it was separated into two layer in the NaOH solution at the treatment concentration above 6g/L, but POBAC showed good weight loss effect of 21% that approach almost to a theoretical weight loss, 21.6%, at the concentration above 8g/L.

        Silicone softner(SSN-3) for permanent press(PP) finish was prepared by blending beef tallow hardened oil for Improving softness, water, the emulsion, which was synthesized from pentaerythritol monostearate as a softening component and silicone oil KF-96 as a lubricating component. The prepared SSN-3 and the PP finishing resin were applied to PP finishing cotton broad cloth and P/C gingham samples using one bath method. The properties such as crease recovery, tear strength, bending resistance test were tested. The samples treated with SSN-3 and PP finishing resin have improved properties, compared with nontreated samples, those treated only with PP finishing resin, those treated with commercial PP finishing softners and PP finishing resin. Also from the bending resistance test, the two kinds of fabric samples treated with SSN-3 of 3% showed grade 5 and these were good enough in feeling.

        The 2-packaged polyurethane coatings were synthesized, blending pheylmodified polyesters(of which synthetic methods were reported in the previous paper), Desmodur L-75(polyisocyanate wide1y used for coatings), wetting-dispersing agent, white pigment. etc. A variety of coating properties were tested for the coating treatment polyurethane coationgs. Compared with conventional 2-packaged polyure-thane coating, abrasion resistance and lightness index difference of the ones synthesized in the present work were somewhat decreased, but the coating properties such as hardness, gloss specular, cross hatch adhesion. etc. were improved. Especially, resistance against chemical reagents and salt were strikingly improved. In addition. the coationgs had short drying time and long pot-life. This shows that the coationgs are appropriate for rapid drying coatings.

        MDABM and MDAEW, as a accelerating weight loss agents, were prepared by adding water to myristyldimethylbenzylammonium bromide(MDAB) and myristyldimethylethylammonium ethyl sulfate (MDAE) synthesized. As a result of weight loss finishing of the MDABW and MDAEW with NaOH on PET fiber, the ratio of weight loss of MDABW was very larger than that of MDAEW. This result showed that quaternary ammonium bromide had higher weight loss effect than quaternary ammonium sulfate, and the ratio of weight loss was greatly varied with the kind of quaternary ammonium salts used. In these conditions, proper treatment concentration, treatment time, and treatment bath ratio were about 8g/l, 6O~90min, and 40:1~50:1, respectively.

        Durable softening water repellents for nylon fiber were synthesized, using two compounds: quaternized octadecyl methacrylate-2-diethylaminoethyl methacrylate copolymer as a mother resin of water repellent and quaternized fatty carbamide for improving softness and hydrostatic pressure, of which syntheses were studied in the previous papers. They were blended with waxes and emulsifiers in a variety of ratios and synthesized into water repellent PADWC, and it was nylon taffeta treated with and without textile finishing resin. The synthesized water repellents can be used either or without resin. The optimum curing temperature was 150 to 160℃ and the optimum concentration was 3 to 5wt%. In the independent and conjunct treatment, the water repellency of nylon taffeta samples have no remarkable changes between initial value and that after three times washing, so these prove that the synthesized compounds are durable water repellent. The water repellency of PADWC-3 and -4 were around 90. Also, comparison of crease recovery and tear strength after repelling treatment showed that the synthesized water repellents have a very high softening effect.

        For the purpose of producing emulsified fire proofing agent for synthetic fibers, 2,3-dibromopropylmonoamido orthophosphate[DP-AOP] and bis(2,3-dibromopropyl)monoamidoorthophosphate[(DP)2AOP] were synthesized, and their structures were identified by instrumental analysis, respectively. Using three kinds of emulsifiers, O/W emulsified fire proofing agents, DPF and DPDPF, were obtained corresponding to DP-AOP and (DP)2-AOP, respectively. Various synthetic textiles were fire-retardant treated by prepared DPF and DPDPF, and fire retardancy and tearing strength of the resulting products were tested. The results showed that as the concentration of fire proofing agents increased, fire retardancy increased, but the tearing strength much decreased, where the tendencies of DPDPF were deeper than those of DPF. But, since the fire retardancy appeared favorable in the range of 10~20wt% of DPDPF, DPDPF is proven to be a fire proofing agent useful for various synthetic textiles.

        Alkaline cleaning agent(ACA) was prepared by blending of POE(4)octadecylmine(S-204), Na2CO3, sodium orthosilicate(Na-OSi). Tetronix T-701(T-701), and MJU-100A. The physical properties of ACA tested with steel specimen showed the following results. The cleaning powers of ACA-6(S-204 80g/Na2CO3, 160g/Na-OSi, 80g/T-701, 60g/MJU-100A, 20g mixture) for press-rust preventing oil was 98% and 99% degreasing at 2wt%, 70℃ and 90℃, respectively : for quenching oil, the cleaning power of ACA-6 was 95% degreasing at 2wt% and 70℃. From these results, it was ascertained that ACA-6 exhibited a good cleaning power. Foam heights measured immediately after foaming by Ross & Miles method and Ross & Clark method at 3wt%. 60℃ were 17mm and 40mm, respectively. As the result, ACA-6 was proved a good low foaming cleaning agent.

        n-Octyldimethylbenzylammonium chloride, dodecyldimethylbenzylammonium chloride, and octadecyldimethylbenzylammonium chloride were synthesized to be used as the accelerating weight loss agent. These synthesized compounds were used for the weight loss treatment of PET textile with sodium hydroxide. From the treatments, it was found that the lower carbon number of high alkyl group existed in quaternary ammonium salts, the better effect of weight loss was acquired. The proper concentration of accelerating weight loss agent was 8~10g/l, the proper treatment time was 60~90 minutes, the proper treating bath ratio was 1 : 50. It is proved that n-octyldimethylbenzylammonium chloride and dodecyldimethylbenzylammonium chloride are good accelerating weight loss agent.

        In the preparation of acrylic water repellent(EDLWC). quaternized 2-diethylarrunoethylmethacrylate-stearylmethacrylate copolymer (DSACC) and quaternized 1-Iaurovlbis(aminoethyl)-2-dodecylimidazoline(LDDIC) were selected as a basic resin and the improving agent such as softening effect and hydrostatic pressure of the water repellent. EDLWC was prepared by blending waxes and emulsifier for waxes with various ratio to DSACC and LDDIC. As the results of the measurement of water repellency, washable, tear strength and crease recovery to polyester-cotton(P/C) blended fabrics treated with EDLWC only or addition of textile finishing resin, the physical properties were increased. Sodium acetate was the most effective catalyst in the water repellency among the various kinds of catalyst. and the reasonable concentration of the catalyst was 1. 4 wt%. EDLWC was confirmed as durable water repellent with the results of making little difference of water repellency as ±5 point after and before washing. The reaction mechanism between P/C blended fabrics and EDLWC in the presence of catalyst was proposed. And also, the longitudinal view of the P/C blended fabrics treated with water repellent was observed with scanning electron microscope.

        (2,3-Dibromopropyl) phenyl lauroyl phosphate[DPPL] was synthesized by adding lauric acid to (2,3-dibromopropyl)chloro phenyl phosphate [DPP]. which prepared from phenyl phosphoric acid dichloride with 2,3-dibromo propyl alcohol. Flame retardants of DPPF and DPPLF were prepared respectively. DPPF was a water soluble flame retardant, and DPPLF was o/w type emulsion flame retardant. After flame retardant treating two kinds of flame retardants to the various synthetic fabrics respectively. the flame retardancy and tear strength were measured. As the results of the measurement. DPPF had only name retardancy, but DPPLF had both of flame retardancy and softness.

        1,3-Di(2-octadecanoyl)-2,7-dioxy-l,3,6,8-tetra aza cyclodecane [DDTC] was synthesized by reacting octadecanoic acid, 2,2'-di-aminodiethyl amine with urea. O/W type softner (STA) was prepared by blending DDTC and pentaerithritol monostearate with polyoxysthylene (20) oleyl ether, polyoxyethylene (10) castor oil, and PEG #1000-lauric acid ester. Treating STA to all cotton fabrics, the physical properties, such as tear strength, crease recovery, flexing abrasion resistance, and so on were measured. Resulting the measurements, STA was found to be durable softner with softness.

        Synthesizing octylphosphate(OTP) from phosphorus pentoxide with n-octyl alcohol, octylphosphatethiourea(OTPU) was prepared from OTP with thiourea. After flame retardant finishing OTPU to acrylic fabrics, nylon taffeta and tetron taffeta, the physical properties, such as tear strength and flame retardancy were measured. As the results of the measurement, OTPU was found to be a good flame retardant having softness using to synthetic fibers.
